Advantages: Soft, strong and delicate on the skin and a good price
Disadvantages: None
Before becoming a parent I hadn't realised what an essential, piece of baby kit wipes are. For something so small it is amazing the mess they can created. Initially I used wipes to clean any mess off myself or when travelling with my baby. As a newborn I used cooled boiled water and cotton wool to clean the little one but after a while moved onto wipes all the time. Naturally I wanted to make sure the wipes didn't irritate my baby's delicate skin so wanted to use wipes that are fragrance free.
These wipes comes in a pale blue packet and each packet contains 64 fragrance free wipes. The packet clearly states they are suitable for newborns and dermatologically tested. Certainly when I have used them on my baby he has not shown any signs of irritation. Well perhaps irritation to me if I am taking too long!
One of the things I like about these wipes is that they are easy to pull out and just one at a time comes out. This is important to me when I have a rather dirty and wriggly baby to clean. Now my baby has started solids these wipes are really proving their worth as dirty nappies are that bit more challenging not to mention the food which my baby manages to spread over his face, hands, hair and anything within a 2 metre radius!
The wipes are a good size and strong so can deal with mess fairly easily. Although they are sting they also feel soft so my baby doesn't complain too much when I use them on him. The wipes apparently contain aloe vera and chamomile which help sooth the skin. Although I sometimes use them on his face I obviously stay clear of his eye area as the packet states you should avoid direct contact with eyes. If this does happen you should rinse them with water.
Recently my baby had a bug which meant I was changing his nappy every hour. These wipes were great at cleaning him and he didn't develop nappy rash or any other form of irritation despite the frequent changing.
I am amused to see that the guidance on the packet says you should use the wipes within 6 months of opening as it is pretty easy to go through a pack in 6 days! Again another advantage of these wipes is the price. Although they may only be 10 to 20 p cheaper than the well known brand names as you will no doubt be buying lots of them this does add up over time and why pay more when this product does a great job. They cost around 98p but sometimes can be picked up slightly cheaper when Tesco have one of their promotions on. incidentally it is worthwhile to join Tesco's baby and toddler club so you are aware of promotions.
Overall I have to say these a great buy and I am not surprised the have a Mother and Baby Gold Award as they deal with mess and are skin to your baby's skin. These are certainly an essential in your changing bag and at home. A tip I have is to keep an empty packet which you can put a few wipes into if you are just popping out to the shops to keep the weight of your bag down.
Summary: An essential piece of baby kit
