“ Brand: Tesco / Type: Make Up Remover / Suitable for: Eye / Skin type: for dry skin and for all types „
I don't wear make up everyday but when I do my eyes always get quite sore and it doesn't seem to matter what make up I use my eyes are sore regardless due to this I am always very careful about taking my make up off on a night before I go to bed.
I saw this product when looking at the nail varnishes in Tesco and for the measly sum of 80p decided it was worth giving a try as the bottle I was using was bordering on empty. The product is one of Tesco's own brand and therefore you can only get it from their stores and for 80p you get a bottle which holds 150mls which I thought was really great value and also cheap enough to throw in the bin if it was no good.
The product comes packaged in a very simple plastic bottle, it states that it is suitable for people who wear contact lenses and for people with sensitive skin which can be me at times.
The product is very easy to use, you simply remove the lid and then I soak a cotton pad in the solution and pull gentle across my eyes, I find that as the make up is removed it does cause some transfer of mascara to under the eyes and so finish off with a clean cotton pad again with the solution on it and clean under my eyes with it too. For the rest of my face I use cleansing wipes but find they don't generally remove mascara which is why I use a proper eye make up remover.
The solution doesn't really have a smell to it and just really smells clean if that is a scent! The solution works really well and generally one cotton pad of solution does over my eyes and one cotton pad of solution does under my eyes so I don't use much on each occasion meaning the bottle is going to last me ages. The solution doesn't irritate my eyes or my skin and best of all it is fantastic value, I cannot pick any faults with the product.
If you are searching for an effective, cheap and cheerful eye make up remover then you really cannot go past the one that Tesco make. For only 80p you get a 150ml sized plastic bottle, which does a really brilliant job at quickly removing eye make up, even waterproof mascara. It's suitable for sensitive skin and contact lens wearers too and a bottle of this lasts me for ages.
Usually I will just use facial wipes for removing my eye make up but often I cannot get all of my waterproof eyeliner off with them so I need to use something a little bit stronger. I first discovered this own brand eye make up remover from Tesco about eight months ago and I use it about three times a week, depending upon what sort of eye make up I have been wearing using during the day. I always use it if I have ever been using a 'night time' eye make up as I find this harder to remove with simple facial wipes.
This bottle of eye make up remover is very simple and easy to use. I just remove the top, turn it upside down and soak some cotton wool pads with it. I then simply stroke the soaked pads right across my eyes, making sure I get all the lashes covered in the lotion. It has a slight smell to it but it's certainly not heavily perfumed at all and it feels light and refreshing on the eye area. I love the fact that this eye make up remover never feels greasy on my skin and it doesn't clog up my eyes so that it looks like I am trying to see through a film of Vaseline after I have used it.
It's thin and watery but surprisingly effective at what it does. There is nothing fancy about this eye make up lotion. The packaging is plain and simple and not eye catching in any way and simply marketed as an eye make up remover. It is, however, a real bargain and I am so glad that I discovered it as I have used it hundreds of times and it never fails to work no matter what sort of make up I am using.
I also love the fact that it doesn't smear my eye make up across the eye area, making me look like a panda. I found this is the case with a lot of (very expensive) eye make removers I have used, and it really annoys the hell out of me. This one from Tesco just lifts the make up right onto the cotton wool pad and never allows the make up to streak across my eyes. It's really brilliant at what it does.
I never have to pull or drag at my eyes and it comes off in a couple of easy swipes. I think that if you are searching for a low cost but extremely effective eye make remover, then you really cannot go past this one from Tesco's own range.
I cannot recommend it highly enough.
~ Why I Bought It ~
I came across this in Tesco a few months ago and didn't have very high hopes for it as it is so cheap but I thought that it was worth a try. It is just as good as branded make up removers!
~ Price ~
I paid around 80 pence for my 150ml bottle of this eye make up remover which is the full retail price believe it or not! This is over a pound cheaper than the brand of make up remover that I used to use so it is a good way to save a bit of money and it is a real bargain.
~ My Opinion ~
When I saw how cheap this eye make up remover was I thought it would be worth getting a bottle to try, but I didn't really think it would be any good to be honest! The packaging is very cheap looking and basic but this doesn't bother me too much and I just keep it tucked away behind my other skin care products when I'm not using it. There's a slight flaw in the packaging - the bottle has an open neck rather than having a dispenser hole, so a lot of product comes out at once so I need to be extra careful when using it.
I have actually knocked this over a couple of times by mistake when the lid was off and as a result a lot of product went to waste whereas if it had a dispenser hole only a few drops would have spilled out but never mind. The make up remover itself has the consistency of water and it is clear and runny, and it does have a slight smell to it which smells quite chemical but it isn't too strong or overpowering.
I use the make up remover by soaking a cotton wool pad in it and massaging it over my eyes to get all of my eye shadow, mascara and eye liner off. It removes eye shadow really quickly and easily and it also gets non waterproof eyeliner off really easily too, however when it comes to mascara, including non waterproof mascara I find that I need to use quite a lot of product to get all of it off.
The make up remover is marketed as a sensitive make up remover. It is fine as long as I keep my eyes closed but if I am using it on my lower lash line and need to keep my eyes open then it stings a little and if it does get into my eye it does hurt a little but not agonisingly so. It does not irritate my eye lids or the skin near my eyes.
~ All in All ~
A cheap and cheerful make up remover which does the job! The packaging design could do with being altered a little and it could be made a bit stronger so that I don't have to use so much of it to get rid of mascara but it is the cheapest make up remover I've come across and I definitely recommend it.
Tesco sensitive eye make up remover
I do a lot of my shopping at tesco online and when I needed eye make up remover this one seemed too good a bargain to pass it up.
I believe it cost around 80p for 150ml of the product so immediately tremendous value.
The product comes packaged in a white bottle with the name of the product simply written on the front and all of the information and ingredients on the back and side. Not a fancy bottle but not unpleasant to look at. The bottle has a screw on and screw back on lid which opens easily. The one issue here is that the hole through which the product is dispensed is quite large so it's important to use a nice big cotton wool pad to completely cover the hole and ensure none of the make up remover drips onto the floor.
The product itself is, as expected, clear in colour and has no discernible scent. It is a liquid and looks and is as liquid as water. This makes me wonder whether it could in fact be water but using it will soon clear this one up.
To use it, the eye make up remover should be applied to cotton wool and then swept across the eyes. I find that if I saturate a cotton wool pad and then hold it on my eye kids for a couple of seconds before wiping it does remove any eye shadow very easily. Non waterproof mascara is similarly removed easily although waterproof mascara requires a bit more holding of the pads on my eyes; this I would also expect from much more expensive eye make up remover. Similarly, for any residual eye liner or make up caught in the corners of my eyes, I find that it's best to soak a new cotton wool pad and gently wipe over with slightly more pressure.
The product is available to buy in tesco stores and also online at www.tesco.com
This is an effective eye make up remover and certainly as effective as some more expensive branded products. It is able to gently remove eye make up and has caused me no irritation whatsoever.
I will certainly be buying this again
