Tesco Value Facial Wipes
Disadvantages: SO DRY
It's been some time since I last used one of Tesco's own brand Value Facial Wipes. The reason it's been so long was due to the fact that I bought these at what I considered at the time to be a rock bottom price of 46p for a standard pack of 25 wipes. I couldn't really believe how cheap they were and as anyone who reads my reviews regularly will be aware, I am a great fan of anything by Tesco and I use a lot of their Value Range products anyway, so I had no reason at all to assume that these facial wipes would be below par.
The packaging of these wipes was very plain and simple when I bought them though I do think that Tesco have updated their Vale Range packaging on make up and skin care lately, however, it's still fairly plain to look at. The wipes came in a plastic pouch / pack with a sticky seal on the top which had to be peeled back to get into the wipes inside the pack. The seal was sticky enough to allow me to be able to reseal it every time I'd removed a wipe.
The first thing I noticed about these wipes was that they just didn't seem to have any moisture to them at all. In fact, they were so dry that I wondered if I'd just picked a 'bad batch'. I usually turn my facial wipes upside down and rotate the pack to make sure any moisture which is inside is distributed throughout all of the wipes in the pack.
Turning these wipes over made no difference at all, however. The wipes were white, oblong shaped, strong and smelled okay and not too perfumed. They were advertised as being able to remove all traces of make up, including eye make up and also being suitable for sensitive skin. They sounded just the job but in fact they didn't work at all well for me personally. I found that I was using another wipe and then another and then another and so on, in the vain hope that eventually I might come across with a little more moisture to it.
The whole pack was as dry as a bone and this really put me off from trying another pack and buying any more. I have a friend at work who swears by these wipes and she much prefers them over the more highly priced Johnson's wipes. Se agrees with me that they are drier than Johnson's but it doesn't seem to bother her and she continues to buy these regardless.
Personally speaking, I was finding that in order to be able to remove any make up I was really having to pull and drag the wipe over my face, which really you shouldn't be expected to do if the product is advertised as a 'moist wipe'. Finally, I resorted to using these wipes alongside my bottle of facial cleansing lotion and using the two together I was able to remove my make up effectively, but this sort of defeated the object of using a wet wipe in the first place.
I really would never consider using these facial wipes again. I know I may have just bought a particularly dry pack, but they put me off enough not to bother with any more. I would give these one star out of a possible five, and really, even that is being very generous.
A very disappointing product.
Summary: Would never consider buying these again
