“ Brand: Tesco / Type: Cleanser / Skin type: for dry skin and for all types / What it does: Cleanses, „
I picked up this cleanser for around 70 pence when I was strapped for cash and needed a cheap cleanser to take my make-up off. The cleanser has been democratically tested and is suitable for all skin types, it also contains Vitamin E which is known for its moisturising and soothing properties. The product is 150ml in quantity.
There is a screw top lid which is removed to dispense the white, slightly watery, cleanser. It is lightly fragranced with a floral smell which is not over powering. but does smell a bit artificial. I apply this with my fingers, as directed - due to the watery consistency I have to be careful when I dispense this product, as I have covered the floor with it before as it comes out so fast!
The cleanser is cooling and soothing when it is applied to the skin, and it is easily massaged over the face to help remove make-up. I can visibly see the cleanser changing colour and picking up the grime off my face, which is reassuring! I do rub it over my eyes to take off mascara and it doesn't sting or irritate my eyes.
The cleanser is easily removed with cotton wool or a damp flannel, it doesn't drag on the face. My face looks clean and it effectively removes make-up and daily grime. Mascara is removed without burning or causing irritation to my eyes. My skin feels soft and supple, not dry and tight - thanks to the Vitamin E. I like to use a separate toner after I have used this to take every last trace of residue of the skin to ensure the cleanser doesn't clog my pores.
I have used this on and off for a couple of years and never experienced any breakouts or irritation from it. Overall, it is a decent product for under a pound, it is much better for the skin than cheap cleansing wipes. Despite the watery consistency, it effectively removes make-up around the eyes and the face. It is not the product that I use on a daily basis nowadays, but I would not hesitate to use this again if I ran out of my Liz Earle C+P.
4 stars due to consistency
A little while ago a rash flared up on a small area of my cheek and when it didn't settle down I decided to visit my Doctor. She asked me what I used to remove my make up and I told her I use make up wipes. She was horrified! She sent me off with cream for the rash and instructions to buy a cleanser, toner and moisturiser.
I went to Tesco and decided I was going to try their own branded products rather than expensive brands as I was unsure how long I would keep up the "proper" beauty regime my Doctor had instructed! On the shelf I spotted their own branded Vitamin E products and each just cost 78 pence so I bought all three there and then.
The Vitamin E cleanser comes in a simple white bottle with a peach coloured label. The bottle contains 150ml of the cleanser. The bottle tells us the product name, instructions for use and that the cleanser "cleanses and refreshes, is dermatologically tested, paraben free and ph balanced".
To use the cleanser I simply pour some from the bottle on to my hand and then rub it on to my face. I do try and wash off as much make up as I can before doing this using water though as I do tend to wear a lot of make up each day.
The cleanser is relatively runny; certainly more so than a moisturiser but it does rub into the skin well. It also has a pleasant but subtle scent. When I have rubbed the cleanser in to my face I then wipe it off using a cotton wool ball or pad. I have to say it does surprise me how much the lotion lifts from my face, especially when I think I have removed pretty much all my make up!
After using the cleanser my skin feels soft but slightly greasy. This is soon rectified though when I use the toner from the same range.
One point to note is that you should avoid getting this product into your eyes. Obviously as you are wiping the product off this can sometimes occur and it bloody stings! If you quickly wash your eyes with clean water though it is almost immediately relieved.
I can't fault this product at all really. It is so cheap that you can always buy it to give it a go without losing out on too much money. I haven't been as good as I should in terms of using it twice a day and sometimes I do sneak and use my wipes again if I am feeling particularly tired after a long day at work but despite this fact I have noticed my skin feels softer and my skin has looked better as well.
I would certainly recommend giving this product a go as I think you would be pleasantly surprised.
Thank you for reading my review!
As I have said in previous reviews I am a hige fan of Vitamin E due to the fact that it works with my skin. I think this may be due to the fact that my skin is slightly dry and I find the vitamin E moisturising.
I spotted this in Tesco the other day and I normally buy Body Shop however seeing that this was way less than half the price of that I decided to give it ago.
It is exclusive to Tesco and can be find in most of the larger supermarkets for just 73p which is an absoloute bargain!
The cleanser is much runnier than some of the creamier ones I would have normally gone for, but I still decided to give it ago. It is white in colour and has almost the exact same fragrance as the other items in the range which is light, fresh and ever so slightly floral.
To use it feels cool and refreshing and the light scent makes it feel soothing. Once on your face it begins to feel more moisturising and you can feel it gently cleansing your face and removing any more make up.
You can see the amount of excess make up it has removed from the amount that is on the cotton wool. AFter using it my face feels cleansed and refreshed and due to the vitamin e feels moisturised. As it was cheap I was expecting my face to feel oily and greasy, though it was none of this!
This is something that I'd definitley reccomend to anyone whether you are counting the pennies or not!
I don't often cleanse and tone due to it being quite time comsuming and it being quicker just to quickly wet wipe your face and be done with it, however the other day I noticed in Tescos they had a vitamine E cleanser and toner for around 70p per one, meaning £1.40 for them both. As I have quite dry skin I knew that this would be good for me as I love the Body Shop vitamin E range however that price seems unbelievable compared to these prices.
It comes in a very plain bottle, which is different to the one picured, it is a longish circular one that is plain white with a peachy / pinky label on reading 'Vitamin E cleanser'.
I tend to cleanse then tone after I have already wet wiped my face to get rid of most of my make up. I was surprised at how much make up the cleanser did actually remove (and how much I usually leave on!).
The cleanser is a white coloured cream and although it looks quite thick in texture it is actually very runny. To use I simply put onto a little round cotton wool pad and rub in circular motions around my face. It feels very refreshing to apply and removes much of the left over make up you may already have on your face.
Unlike other ones it does not feel at all sticky or greasy and does just feel really refreshing and like it is cleansing you. It does not really hold any scent to it, which is quite nice as I have often had products like this that I don't like the smell of them.
I am glad to find that this does actually work - it has improved my skin greatly. I tend to have quite patchy skin that does tend to sometimes have spots, but since using this the redness of the spots has gone down and I have not got any more. Also my skin looks a lot more even and not as patchy as it had been.
The great thing was that I started to notice some of these results within just a few days of using this product. However I was also using the Tesco Vitamin E wipes and the toner which may have aided these results.
As I said I do hae quite dry skin, so yet another great thing that I found was that this didn't dry out my skin and to some extent did in fact moisturise it.
This is a great version of some more expensive brands and I am glad to say that is does actually work my skin looks much more radiant and feels softer.
Overall I would highly reccomend this!
I normally shop in Asda for everything since Tesco is the other side of my very busy and large town. I visited my brother at the start of the year and I'm not a fan of taking toiletries with me unless i really need them because they leak, no matter how much i pack and protect them, they leak.
I was in the next town over shopping and decided to have a look in the super centre Tesco just down the road to see what they had on offer.
Normally I'd have walked past this but because it's a very plain white and peach coloured bottle with just 'Vitamin E Cleanser' written on the label it caught my eye, proves it doesn't have to be fancy to be eye catching.
I've heard Vitamin E is good for problem skin with blemishes and since it was only around 75p for 150ml i wasn't arguing.
Personally i think most cleansers smell the same and this one also smells quite nice, It comes in a white plastic bottle with a peach label and looks the same as the toner so make sure you read the label before putting it in your basket.
It claims to be climatologically tested, Paraben free and pH balanced. It has a 12 month life but it doesn't say whether it's tested on animals, so if you only use animal testing free products i doubt this one's safe for you to use.
The cleanser itself isn't too thick but if you knock it over you don't have to worry too much about it going everywhere. I knocked it over on my bed a few times and i didn't spill any.
It has the usual instruction on the bottle telling you to apply and wipe with a cotton wool pad or ball, it doesn't take much to make your face feel clean and it removes excess dirt and makeup really well. I only use mascara but it takes mine off really easily, normally i wake up to find dark marks under my eyes or smudges on my pillows but after using this i had no problem with mascara after waking up.
Either way if you're debating whether to buy this, it's only 75p so even if you don't like it you're not losing out like you would with big brands. It makes your skin feel soft and clean, and the toner is just as nice. I think I'll be making the trip across town once i run out to stock up on more.
I can't remember how I came across this product, it must have been by chance, or purchased for me by someone else as the packaging is not sparkly or attractive enough to catch my eye!
The product appears to be from some kind of basic range, it comes in plain packaging and its everyday price falls at the cheaper end of the beauty spectrum.
The appearance and price should not fool anyone, this is a top class cleanser. I am very fussy about what I put on my skin, not much works and the rest will either make it greasy or dry, I just cant win. This product seems to have the perfect balance, somewhere right in the middle. The bottle has a screw top lid which unscrews easily and then I dab it onto some cotton wool. A few dabs is enough to clean my face and then a second time round using fresh material does the job marvellously. The texture is creamy but not too thick and is not greasy or oiley either, this is a water based cleanser.
The cleanser removes make up and build up of dirt well. The only downside here is that it does not deep clean pores, although what do you expect from one cheap product!?
Once used my skin is left feeling soft and smooth (and most importantly clean) it is not dry or greasey either. A huge bonus for this product is that it can used to remove even stubborn mascaras. I haven't looked back since I bough this cleanser.
I'm picky when it comes to skincare. I like good quality products and, within reason, I don't mind paying for them. In fact I rather enjoy paying for them! Trying different brands and formulas is a bit of a hobby for me, and I'm constantly searching for "the one".
Anyway, two weeks ago I nipped out to Tesco to buy a new facial cleanser. Like an idiot I forgot my purse and had only a £1 coin in my pocket. Rather than drive home again, I decided to buy the only cleanser I could get for that money - Tesco's own Vitamin E Cleanser. It cost me £0.70, so I wasn't expecting much, but I figured it would push me on until I could get another.
Well guess what! Two weeks on and I'm still using it twice daily! It is absolutely fine, easily as good as ones I've bought in the past which have cost ten times as much.
The packaging is very plain; just a white plastic bottle with a screw top, but that doesn't matter to me. It claims to be suitable for all skin types, and the printed instructions are exactly as you would expect - apply gently with fingertips, then wipe off with cotton wool.
It is only slightly fragranced (a pleasant, clean smell) and is pure white. It is the consistency of double cream, making it easy to get out of the bottle and apply, but not too runny - and importantly if you knock the bottle over it doesn't splat everywhere.
It is efficient at removing make-up and general grubbiness and it wipes off easily without leaving loads of residue.
Whilst I perhaps won't always buy this one (I do enjoy a bit of designer pazzazz!) it is a very useful standby, and if ever I get really pushed for cash I would be more than satisfied with it. If money is tight, I would definitely buy this, allowing me a bit more cash for a dearer moisturiser. After all, cleanser is "wipe on/wipe off" and doesn't stay on your skin all day. As long as it cleanses thoroughly, that's all I need from it. And it does!
Well done again, Tesco!
