A few weeks back I was shopping on the Superdrug website and I came across The Beauty Parlours "Boob Tube in a Box". I had never tried any products by this company but I did like the look of it and since it was half price I decided to give it a go. It was added to my basket and arrived with the rest of my order a few days later.
The product arrived in a lovely light purple kitsch retro style box. The brand and name of the product is written inside a picture of a swinging window shop sign. It reads "The Beauty Parlour - Open for business". Furtherdown, we are informed that 2 x 150ml "boob tubes" are inside the box. These will give boobs a "Noticeably fuller look and feel". There is also a 50's style woman dusting in her bra. So its fair to say this packaging really stands out. It is unique, colourful and very eye-catching. I absolutely love this retro style, so the design of the box really interested me.
As promised contained within the box there are two 150ml tubes.
The first is a day cream. It is presented in a baby pink tube, it stands on its lid. The cream contains soya bean oil. Directions are given to massage the cream into the chest area every day preferably after a shower. It claims the cream will leave skin moisturised, soft and with a sensual perfumed smell. The cream is easily dispensed from the flip lid and it is white in colour. The smell of this cream is absolutely divine, it has a perfume smell with a hint of Patchouli and the fragrance seems to last for sometime. The cream rubs into skin fantastically, it is easily absorbed and leaves no after residues. Although this product is marketed to use on the chest I see no reason why it could not be used on the rest of the body.
The second tube is almost identical to the first except it is presented in a light purple tube. This one is a gel which contains Artatensyl. Not only will this gel leave skin smooth but according to the tube it will also give a "Immediate tightening effect" . Directions are given to massaged the gel into the chest each night before bed. The fragrance is similar to the day cream and I found they perfectly complimented each other. The gel itself is clear and a bit on the sticky side, that being said I found massaging into the skin was easy. It did leave some stickiness when first appled to the skin but this disappeared soon after use. I also found that less was more with this gel and felt the less used the easier it was absorbed. I was fairly surprised that this did seem to tighten my skin, however this was a temporary effect and did not last long.
It is advised to use both the products daily to get the full effect. On the back of both bottles an ingredients list is given along with the usual warnings for this type of product (Eg avoid eyes etc). Once opened the tubes should be used within 12 months.
Also inside the box is a small paper leaflet. Part of this just gives the ingredients, directions for use and other information that can just be found on the tubes anyways. However, it also has exercise suggestions which should be used in addition to the boob tubes to "ensure your boobs stay perky". These exercises include chest presses, knees push ups and chest flys. Since I already practice yoga i have not bothered to try these exercises but I guess in they could be useful. I think the little leaflet is a nice added touch, althought its only in black and white and fairly basic. I think a more professional looking leaflet would be more appealing, maybe something with a bit more colour.
I really enjoyed using both the day cream and night gel. I think both products were fun and I love the retro designs. They smelled great and left my skin very soft. I did experience tighter skin after using the night gel but this was only a temporary effect, however I dont think I would really expect anything permenant from using this type of product anyways. I found it good value for money and would definately buy again, it has also made me more interested in buying more products from the Beauty Parlour range. I think this is a great pamper product and ideal for treating yourself, the packaging also makes it an ideal gift.
As I mentioned before I bought this little set from the Superdrug website. Its recommended price is £2.99, I bought it for half price at £1.50. However, i just checked again on their website to see how much it is currently selling for and found it on sale for 30p. Standard delivery is also free at the moment, so if you are interested in giving this product a go I would recommend visiting the Superdrug site as soon as possible before this offer finishes.
