Advantages: Intensively hydrating, calms and cools sensitive skin

Disadvantages: Expensive at full price

I have been using the some body shop products for years but for the past few years Lush has overtaken the body shop as my first port of call for bath skin care goodies. It is only recently that I have started to rediscover just how good some of their products are. I have always loved their perfumes and body butters but have started to sample some of their skin care range and have been pleasantly surprised by it.

I decided to try some of their aloe vera products as they are currently available online at a discounted price. My favourite one in the range has to be the aloe protective restoring mask. The mask is a weekly intensive mask used to restore hydration to the skin. To use it you just need to cleanse the skin and put a generous layer on and leave it for 20 minutes before wiping off the excess with some tissue or cotton wool.

I have dry sensitive skin which is often sore and red thanks to my rosacea but this mask seems to really be helping in getting my skin back under control. It feels lovely on my skin and afterwards my skin is left feeling so soft and smooth and the redness and inflammation is really calmed down. It is one of the few masks that I have used that doesn't cause me any irritation whatsoever and actually helps calm my red sore skin down.

As I sit with the mask on a lot of it actually absorbs into my skin and to begin with I was worried it would be too rich and clog my skin up and leave me with breakouts as I am prone to them. It doesn't do this and instead it acts like a drink for my dry patches and afterwards my skin is left looking plumper and in much better condition than before.

It also lasts quite a long time which is good as when it isn't on special offer the mask costs £12 but this does get you a 100ml pot containing a lot of product. Even though it is supposed to be a weekly treat for skin I found that I used it every couple of days until my skin was feeling and looking better before I switched to using it weekly. I think that it might be too rich for using so often but as my skin was really dry at this point it didn't cause me any problems with greasiness.

The only problem with this mask is that it doesn't cleanse so if you have congested skin you will need to find another mask to use first to clean the skin out.
I really recommend trying this mask if you have sensitive skin as it will not only give your skin a moisture boost but it will also help take away the stinging sensation and cool and calm your skin right down.
