I bought this Camomile gentle make up remover for £8 from the Body Shop. It is a bit more than I usually pay but I do love the Body Shop products and know that they last a long time. It is 250ml bottle which I would say probably lasts me about three to four months so it really is good value. My eyes are quite sensitive and although I can use other products on my face I do need to use very gentle products for my eye area otherwise I find I am rubbing them all night. This eye make up remover is dermatologically tested and approved and it is suitable for the most sensitive skin. It is oil free making it suitable for contact lens wearers and it contains pro-vitamin B5 which is said to smooth and soften your skin.
Although this eye make up remover is gentle it does remove waterproof mascara which I do wear occasionally. I find that I have to rub a bit longer when I am wearing this but I still use the same pressure and don’t have to scrub away to remove it. To use I will tip the bottle onto a cotton wool pad and then start with my eyes shut, sweeping the pad outwards several times. I will then open my eyes and wipe the pad upwards for my top lashes and then downwards on my bottom lashes, before finishing off wiping underneath and on top of my eyes to get any remaining mascara. If I have put a few layers of mascara on I find that I do have to put some more liquid onto the cotton wool pad where I will just turn the pad round and use the other side.
It does have a slight smell which I would describe as fresh and clean but it is not overpowering and it disappears quickly when applied to your skin. It does feel cool and refreshing and it isn’t greasy or oily at all so it doesn’t leave any residue on your skin afterwards. I find that if I don’t shut my eyes properly or if some of the liquid gets into my eyes it doesn’t sting or smart and they just need a quick wipe with the cotton pad to remove it.
This conditioning eye make up remover works quickly and effectively for me and it is very gentle and has never caused me any irritation. It is a product which I am happy to use every day and recommend to others.
I bought this for myself on a recent trip to the body shop. I always like to try new products and was needing some new makeup remover so thought I would give this a go.
The great thing about Body shop products is that they are excellent value for money and are always a really good quality and last.
The bottle doesn't look anything special it is a very simple looking product. The bottle comes with a screw top lid so it is very easy to open and easy to get the product out of.
I have used this a lot now and have been really pleased with the product so far. I use it by unscrewing the lid and pouring the product out onto a cotton wool ball. I only apply a small amount and it seems to go a long way.
I don't wear loads of make up but I do wear foundation, blusher, eye liner and mascara. I simply rub the cotton wool ball over my face to remove all the products. I always wash my face first to get some of it off and then afterwards use this product to remove the rest of the make up. I use waterproof mascara and it is able to remove this without any problems at all.
I have very sensitive skin and sometimes have eczema on my eye lid but this does not affect my skin at all so it is definitely a gentle product.
The product is very versatile as I have also used it to remove face paints from my kids which again it does without any problems and is gentle enough not to cause any irritation to their young skin.
The smell of the makeup remover is lovely it always leaves me feeling fresh and clean when ever I have used it which is great!
I would recommend this product to anyone who wears makeup and needs a great product that they can rely on.
I'm always on the lookout for a good eye makeup remover, so decided to try this product as it had got good reviews on The Body Shop website. I started out with a miniature (£3 for 60ml) and ended up buying a full-size 250ml bottle. This normally costs £8, but The Body Shop always has some sort of special offer on: I estimate this probably cost me about £4-£5.
The key ingredient in this product is Community Fair Trade camomile water. Camomile is known for being gentle and soothing and is an ideal product to put around your eyes. This camomile water comes from Norfolk Essential Oils, a family-run cooperative.
This product comes in a simple white bottle with green writing and The Body Shop logo. The bottle is the same size and shape as the shower gel bottles, but unlike them it is not made of clear plastic, so you can't see how much you have left. However, you can give the bottle a shake to see if you can work out how much is left by how well it sloshes around! The product has the consistency of water so you don't have to worry about leaving the product in the bottle at the end - it will come out easily if you turn it upside down.
The bottle has a flip-top lid which is hygienic and makes the product easy to use and store. You just open the lid and tip some onto a cotton wool pad. The remover is clear and doesn't really smell of anything - The Body Shop has made this product to be fragrance and colour free. I gently sweep the cotton wool pad soaked in remover over my eyelid - I sometimes hold it there for a bit to make it more effective.
I am very impressed by how well this eye makeup remover does the job. It removes makeup as well as products like Johnson's eye makeup remover and Garnier makeup dissolver - products that involve two layers that shake up. This remover doesn't need anything like that, but it removes even mascara with ease. I haven't tried removing waterproof mascara with this product as I very rarely use it, but The Body Shop make a waterproof version of this remover, which comes in a tube, so you may want or need to try that if you use waterproof mascara.
Some eye makeup removers leave a bit of an oily residue around the eyes. I don't really mind this as I always follow with a facial cleanser which removes any oily traces anyway. However for those of you who are concerned about this, this remover does not leave any residue at all. In fact, if it wasn't for the fact that it removes eye makeup so effectively, I would think I was just putting water on my face! It is very light, gentle and soothing on my skin, which can be a bit sensitive, and this is a definite plus. It doesn't dry out my eyes at all.
My full-size bottle, used most days, has lasted me a couple of months and I still have between 1/3 and ½ remaining judging by how it sounds when I shake it about! It does last for a long time, therefore.
Overall, I highly recommend this product. It is a gentle, yet effective eye makeup remover which is long-lasting. It is a bit expensive at full price, but The Body Shop have so many offers and discounts that there's really no reason to ever pay full price if you wait a while for a good offer. Therefore, it receives five stars from me.
I pretty much always take my make-up off properly and I usually find that eye make-up, mascara more than anything else really, needs a little extra work to completely remove it which is why I started buying eye make-up remover late last year. Until that point I'd just use facial wipes, cleanser and toner do the job which works for most make-up but not all.
I bought this Gentle Eye Make-Up Remover from The Body Shop a few months back in the summer. If I remember correctly I had a money off coupon and needed something to bump up my total so I could redeem it and this is the product I did this with. I do have very sensitive skin on my face and the eye area in particular seems be the worst which is why I usually stick to Simple products when it comes to eye make-up remover as I know these don't give me any negative reaction. For this reason I was a little weary about trying something different but I thought seems as The Body Shop specified this was 'gentle' it'd be alright.
The remover comes in two sizes. 60ml for £3 or 250ml for £8 however the 60ml bottle is only available in stores so if buying online you'll have to get the bigger bottle. It comes in a white plastic bottle with white flip top lid and the green The Body Shop logo printed on the label at the front along with the name of the product and little description which reads 'all-in-one lash and lid cleansing, conditioning and softening. For all skin types.'
This is fragrance and colour free so, as you'd expect, you do just get a colourless and odourless liquid in this bottle which doesn't look any different to water. I press a cotton pad the opening the bottle and tip it upside down to release some remover. As this is so watery it comes out extremely quickly and uncontrollably and if you're using particularly thin cotton pads this will just run straight though and create a bit of a wet mess! It's then just the usual case of rubbing this over the eye area.
I'll give it one thing, it really does remove eye make-up seemingly effortlessly, it's very quick and very effective there. It isn't, however, gentle. This remover makes my eyes sting and water almost immediately and this effect lasts for a good ten minutes after using. The skin around my eyes is left feeling very sore and very red too. It's not a pleasant experience! I think the problem lies at the fact this contains alcohol, something I didn't realise at the time or I'd have never of bought it. My experience has shown me that my face does like anything with alcohol ingredients and this is, from what I can tell, what causes my sensitive reactions to face products. I don't think is very uncommon either thus I really don't agree with any such product containing such ingredients being allowed to call itself 'gentle', for a lot of people it won't be, myself included.
If, however, you don't suffer from these problems then I would definitely recommend this. I quick sweep over my eye area reveals the vast majority of make-up on my cotton pad and it really doesn't take longer than a minute on each eye to get rid of the make-up which is a lot quicker than other similar products I have tried!
There's no doubt this is effective. People with sensitive skin should probably avoid it though; it's not gentle in the least bit in my opinion and certainly does not agree with me! Which is a great shame.
I wear make-up practically every single day and it can be quite a chore to get my skin clean and clear at the end of the day. I was in The Body Shop checking out their skincare range when one of their sales assistants offered to help talk me through some of the products. He was very helpful and gave a demonstration of this Camomile Gentle Eye Make-Up Remover by drawing on my hand with black eyeliner, and then simply wiping it away with a little of this make-up remover! It certainly looked impressive so I bought a bottle then and there. This make-up remover is available in two different sizes, costing RRP£3.00 for a 60ml travel size bottle and RRP £8.00 for a 250ml full size bottle.
Product description: "All-in-one lash and lid cleansing, conditioning and softening. We can't imagine life without soothing, calming camomile. With a gentle disposition perfect for delicate skin and a knack for removing mascara in seconds. It's T.L.C. for the E.Y.E."
This product is recommended as being suitable for all skin types. I have combination skin with occasional spates of blemishes and sensitivity. I always try and take extra care of my eyes as part of my skincare routine. I go for a natural look day-to-day, and then like to glam it up with heavy eye make-up when I go out. Even on a "natural" day I still use eyeshadow, concealer and mascara on my eyes, along with highlighter and eyeliners for my heavier look. I explained to the sales assistant that I quite often go for the big black eye look when I'm goth-ing it up, and so his demo of how easily the eyeliner was removed from my skin was really helpful.
The packaging of this eye make-up remover is quite simple, it comes in a plastic bottle with a flip-top lid, and inside the lid there is a small hole which forms a little spout for you to dispense the remover in a controlled way. The bottle is covered in a white wrapper, and I had expected with it being a camomile product that it would be like a cream cleanser, but in actual fact this is completely liquid and pours out easily.
The make-up remover is colourless and suitable for use on sensitive skin as camomile is a soothing and gentle natural ingredient. To use this I simply apply a small amount to a cotton wool pad and then wipe gently over my eyes to remove my eye make-up. For light make-up it really is as simple as just lightly brushing the pad over the eye lid to remove all traces of make-up. For heavy make-up, especially with several layers of mascara, I hold the pad against my eye so that the liquid has a chance to soak onto my lids and lashes, and then once the make-up has loosened it comes away much more easily. If I've gone all out and really layered up my make-up then it can take a second attempt to get my skin completely clean again. This process can make quite a mess of your cotton wool pads, and I make the most of mine by cleansing one eye using one side of the cotton pad, and then turning it over and using the other side of the cotton pad to cleanse my other eye. This makes it more economical to use and means less waste when throwing away my cotton pads as I have used both sides.
I like that this make-up remover is a liquid as this means that is has a lovely refreshing feeling on the skin. I always feel like my skin is fresh and clear after I have used it and there is no greasy or sticky residue left behind. To begin with when I was getting used to using this product I did have a tendency to overload the cotton wool pad with liquid until it was nearly saturated, and this excessive amount of product did sting at my eyes and make them feel sore. However, I quickly realised that a little can go a long way and as long I use a small dose then I do not notice any sensitivity or stinging feeling whatsoever, and it actually helps to make the skin around my eyes feel cooled and relaxed at the end of a long day.
The only slight negative for me is that this is quite expensive compared to other brands, but I do feel like the price can be justified as it does exactly what I need it to, and the bottle lasts for months of use. If you have a Love Your Body, Body Shop loyalty card then you can get some good offers which I would definitely recommend getting hold of if you shop regularly at The Body Shop. Since purchasing this product I have noticed that they also have the same Camomile Gentle Eye Make-Up Remover available for use specifically with Waterproof make-up, which could come in particularly handy for anyone like me who likes to layer up on the mascara. I would highly recommend this product and will happily buy it again as it works so effectively.
The Body Shop is against animal testing - please keep your beauty cruelty free!
As a contact lens wearer and someone who has always had thin and sensitive skin around my eye sockets I often use eye make up remover tonics to prevent stinging and redness. I recently switched from my regular Simple brand to this Camomile Gentle Eye Make Up Remover by The Bodyshop. I like to shop at The Bodyshop as I wholeheartedly support the brand's ethos. They do not test their products on animals and their ingredients are fairtrade. Their products also tend to be more natural in terms of ingredients and therefore are mild and kind to the skin.
The tonic is available in two sizes, a small 60ml bottle or the larger 250ml bottle. I have the 60ml version which retails at £3. The larger version is quite pricey at £8 a bottle. The product comes in a white recyclable bottle which has a lid on the top. The lid can be fully unscrewed and detached after use but it has a flip top design for everyday use. This design makes the tonic easy to access.
The label on the bottle provides some information about the product but there is always more to be found at the Bodyshop online shop website. The label does print the full ingredients though as well as contact information and usage instructions.
The brand describe this as a "all-in-one lash and lid cleansing, conditioning and softening" eye make up remover which is suitable for all skin types. I do find this desription a bit redundant though as this description is everything I want from an eye make up remover anyway.
The liquid remover is as thin and as runny as water. It appears to be colourless. After each use when I turn the bottle upside down I notice that the liquid froths up on the top but this does not affect how the liquid is dispensed.
The liquid contains soothing chamomile but is described as being 'fragrance free'. I can detect a slight fragrance though although it's more like a fresh waterfall type of smell than anything chemical based.
To use this liquid I apply a small amount to a cotton wool ball. I don't need to use very much at all because when I dab the cotton wool ball to my skin whatever dirt or make-up is on their is instantly transferred to the cotton wool ball. I don't even need to wipe the cotton wool ball over my skin - the liquid just seems to suck up all the greasy make-up and dirty oils.
The sensation of the cool liquid on my skin is refreshing and my eyes feel like they have been freed of all the heaviness and tiredness of the day. The liquid is surprisingly powerful and effectively removes all eye make-up including mascara, eye-shadow and eye-liner. I don't need to re-apply the liquid as it is so effective the first time I apply. As someone who has quite bad dark circles around my eyes I am happy to say that this eye make-up remover doesn't inflame my redness but leaves my skin looking calm and healthy.
This is a highly effective and pleasing product which I will continue to use and would recommend to others, particularly those who have delicate skin around the eyes.

I only bought this product because when I was in The Body Shop one day I found that I had used my Body Shop card enough to recieve a free gift so I had another quick look around and not really need of anything badly, I chose this eye make up remover.
I used it that night with tecscos own cotton wool pads. I use a fair amount to get the pad damp enough and easily removed makeup from both eyes which includes fairly heavy mascara, liquid eyeliner and a little bit of pencil eyeliner as well as the concealer underneath my eyes. I'm not too bothered about the concealer coming off as I wash my face after taking my makeup off anyway, the main thing to remove is all the black.
The thing I love most about this make up remover is it's so soft and I don't have to rub to get it off, I press the pad on for a second to loosen the eye makeup a bit before I wipe. The only bad points are it's too big for travelleling (they do have travel sizes) and because the bottle is entirely white it can be hard to tell how much is left.
It is fairly expensive (I think about £4.50) but it does last a long time and the fact that it takes makeup off so easily I think it's definately worth it.
My favourite eye make up remover prior to discovering this one use to be Simple Kind to Eyes.
The thing with the Simple one was it really WAS kind to my eyes. Some eye make up removers can sting, some leave a greasy residue (for example No. 7), etc. The only thing that the Simple eye make up remover lacked was the ability to remove waterproof eye make up - especially mascaras. It took FOREVER! And required a bit of rubbing too.
Now that I've discovered The Body Shop's Camomile Gentle Eye Make Up Remover it is my HG (Holy Grail) product.
It is also very gentle to the skin, causes no irritation or greasy residue. Feels light and refreshing and a little bit goes a long way!
I usually like to use a Q tip/cotton bud and soak it in this make up remover and start by removing my eyeliner first ensuring all is removed in between my lashes. Then I apply a bit of the make up remover on a cotton pad and wipe gently over the lid. No pressure is needed and it wipes it away so easily!
With mascara and other more long lasting eye shadows just make sure you soak up the pad well with the make up remover and apply to the lid for a few seconds and it should lift it up with ease. Anything left over can be cleaned up with the Q tip!
I love the nice simple packaging and the fact its fragrance and colour-free. I don't know whether the product itself is as chemical free as the Simple Kind to Eyes one but so far so good. No irritation at all and does the job perfectly!
It seemed that this was a well kept secret for a while that all my girlfriends were in on but me.
I actually came across this product quite by accident. My aunt works for the bodyshop but isn't a typical female and doesn't 'do' cosmetics...fortunately for me because i got a whole heap of stuff she wouldn't use. Amongst them was a bottle of this camomile eye make-up remover.
It is gentle so shouldn't hurt your eyes too much - though I must admit I do perhaps sometimes put too much on and it can sting a little if you use too much. I like to put a splash on a cotton pad and just hold it against my mascara laden lashes for a few moments and gently wipe off. It really does remove my eye makeup so well. The camomille is soothing in a way and it doesn't damage your lashes, it actually leaves them feeling soft. I should also add that this product is colourless and perhaps more importantly fragrance free in case you have an intolerance to that.
In terms of price, well it's not the cheapest you might be able to buy. i recommend getting the larger 250ml bottle which will set you back around £8 but will last a long time (unless you are a particularly heavy eye makeup user). However you can get a 60ml bottle for only £3 which is much better on the purse! Of course the other attraction for this product is that because its from The body shop, you know that no poor animals have suffered for the testing of this product.
I've been using this product for years and wouldn't consider anything else. And after attending a body shop part recently and seeing all my girlfriends put in orders I realise that i'm not the only one who loves it!
I buy a few Body Shop products as they are one of the few brands that do not affect my very sensitive skin,however..........
I obtained this eye make-up remover as a free sample when buying other products. Since I wear Body Shop mascara I thought this would be ideal for removing it at the end of the day.
I poured a little of it onto the cotton wool pad and it certainly removed the mascara no problem,it was very soothing and refreshing to the eyes.
After about half an hour my eyes began to tingle a bit and then around my eye lids it started to feel really nippy and sore.Since this was the first time in using it I thought I will give it another try and I did so on another occasion that I was wearing mascara as the first time I thought it was perhaps the newness of the product or that I had not done something right. Exactly the same thing happened the second time. It was such an awful experience I have gone back to using Simple eye make-up remover which I have used for years and not had a problem.
It is a pity because it seemed a good eye make-up remover and since I do have extremely sensitive skin I am assuming it is me and not the product as Body Shop are as ethical as they come.
I've been using the Boots No 7 eye make-up remover for a while now as it's the only one I've found that removes my eye gloss make-up without me having to spend ten minutes inadvertently wiping it all over my face first. Unfortunately it's not cheap and as I'm on a budget, I quite resent the fact that Boots keep putting the price up so when my current bottle started to come to an end, I began the hunt for a cheaper replacement. I wasn't orginally planning to buy this but there was an offer on where you could get £5 off if you bought three items so into the basket it went.
I was expecting a really gentle eye make-up remover given the claims made on the bottle but even though my eyes aren't particularly sensitive, I still found that it stung my eyes a little bit, which was disappointing. It doesn't remove my eye gloss very well but I can't put it down for that as very few eye make-up removers that I've tried have done this but it's fine for getting rid of my eyeshadow and non waterproof mascara without me expending too much energy in the process.
I think I paid around £8 for a bottle, which might seem quite pricey but I find that I don't need to use too much to get rid of most eye make-up (eye gloss aside) so it's more economical than you might think.
Based on the fact that it ever-so-slightly stings my eyes and it's pretty expensive for what it is, I'm not particularly inclined to rush out and buy another bottle when this one bites the dust. I've heard good things about a L'Oreal eye make-up remover which is quite a bit cheaper albeit for a smaller bottle. Discomfort aside, there's nothing specifically wrong with the product and on the plus side, it's by no means as oily and greasy as the No 7 that I was previously using.
I am a girl who likes her mascara. During the day something nice and natural looking and something with a bit more oomph at night. What I don't like however is waking up to the dreaded panda eyes. Not a good look.
Although I have tried other eye make up removers I keep returning to my old reliable which is the Body Shop's Camomile Gentle Eye Make up remover.
It comes in a white plastic bottle with a lid that flips up. I would prefer a clear bottle so I can see how much I have left but this is a minor point. Apply to cotton wool then wipe over your eye to remove make up.
As you may have suspected it has no problem whatsoever in taking off my work time make up leaving my eye area nice and refreshed. In addition I don't have to rub too hard and potentially damage my skin around the eyes.
When it comes to my heavy duty mascara it does take a little longer to remove but it gets the job done. Personally I like to wet the cotton wool pad and leave it on my lashes for a few moments before wiping them. I have found that the product works well on waterproof mascara too.
As I have sensitive skin it is important that I don't use anything which could irritate it and have found no problems using this product.
It is available from The Body Shop and 250ml costs £7.50 but there are sometimes offers to be had. I find it just a little bit expensive so it loses a star from me.
I have been using this product for several years, since working as a Body Shop Direct agent, where products are taken to "parties" at people's homes and demonstrated. This was always a good seller. It is extremely kind to eyes, and goes a very long way. Place just a little on a cotton wool pad, allow it to soak onto mascared lashes, and then GENTLY remove the mascara, never pulling the delicate skin around the eye. This works well even with waterproof mascara. It is one of those products which has stood the test of time - if its not selling, no manufacturer will keep making it! If you go into any Body Shop outlet, they will allow you to test this (and any other product), I never had a customer who showed any signs of discomfort after using this - something which you cannot say about many eye make-up removers, which can be quite astringent. 250ml costs £7.50. No drawback with overpowering smell, only a slight camomile scent.
This product was a great thing for me to try out for two reasons. I love the Bodyshop products they always smell nice and work great and I wear a heel of a lot of eye make-up. Now usually I use the No7 eye make-up remover but that at around £8 a bottle was getting very expensive to keep stocking up on so I went in search for a cheaper eye make-up remover that worked just as well. And that is where this one came in I was just browsing through Bodyshop when this caught my eye, I think it was on offer for about £2 so I was happy with paying that because I thought even if it didnt work I hadn't spent to much on it so I wouldnt be so disappointed.
So after a day out wearing my usual heavy eye make-up which included false eyelashes, brown and black eyeshadow, liquid eyeliner, pencil eyeliner and mascara I went home and started to remove all that dark make-up with this product.
Si I flipped open the little lid and squeezed some of this cream onto a cotton wool pad, that just seemed the easiest way to use it. I began rubbing it over my eyes and honestly I could really see any make-up budging. It was very gentle and felt like it was moisturising my eyes as I was rubbing it but my make-up still was not budging. I did apply a bit more and tried again but it just was not coming off so I went back to my old faithful make-up remover.
I did try this one more time when I was just wearing very little mascara and it worked wonderfully so I do keep a little bottle of this for days when I am not wearing much dark eye make-up. But if you wear your eyes very dark like I do this wont help you very much at all.
I think this may have worked better if I had really scrubbed at my eyes but that would have just left them feeling sore and red so I didnt even bother doing that. This product is perfect if you don't wear a lot of make-up because it will really work and leave the area around your eyes feeling soft and clean. But if your an eye make-up addict like me and have dark eyes this will not work in the slightest. I recommend to some people but not so great for others, I guess the effectiveness of this cream just depends on the individual.

Price: £2.90 for 60ml
£7.30 for 250ml
From: The Body Shop
For: Gentle but effective removal of eye makeup and conditioning of the lashes
The packaging is the usual Body Shop high quality, clean and simple bottle. It's a plastic bottle with a flip top lid which opens easily but fastens tightly enough for it to be stored in a toiletries bag.
It's a fairly thin textured creamy lotion, with a lovely smooth consistency. I don't really notice a scent while I'm using it, but it does have a very subtle creamy chamomile scent to it.
To use it you just apply a small amount to a cotton pad and sweep over the eye area. Or, do it the way beauty therapists do it and massage a little into the eye area before removing with a damp cotton pad. Either way works great but for stubborn makeup the latter way is more effective.
The lotion feels refreshing when applied to the skin and it is indeed very gentle. I have quite sensitive skin on my eyes, and I also wear contact lenses, and this has never irritated either. It doesn't feel greasy on the skin, and it leaves the skin feeling very clean and fresh, and eyelashes feeling healthy and soft.
The best thing about this is how effective it is. It easily removes even the most stubborn waterproof mascara and eyeliner without any need for rubbing or scrubbing at the skin, which is almost a miracle to me after all the useless (and far more expensive) eye makeup removers I've used in the past.
All in all this is a fantastic makeup remover.
Thumbs up from me.
Float away the day with refreshing rosewater to gently cleanse and dissolve eye make-up / Also conditions lashes so they feel soft and silky /
