A few months ago I bought some Chocomania Beautifying Oil from the Bodyshop and discovered that it was an excellent product and was so versatile that I could use it on my face, body and even my hair. I used up that bottle pretty quickly and on my latest trip to The Bodyshop I decided to take advantage of their 'buy one and get one half price' for the beautifying oils and so I bought the Chocomania one again but I also got this Coconut Beautifying Oil which I thought would smell divine!
The product comes in a 100ml or 3.3. FL. OZ sized semi-transparent bottle. The bottle is equipped with a flip top which is easy to click open. I would not take this product in a bag or travelling however because I do not feel the flip top is secure enough and it could easily be caught on something and accidentally pull open. There is an information label attached to the bottle. It is necessary to back the top layer of this label to expose all information including ingredient information and product warnings.
When I first saw these beautifying oils I wasn't exactly sure how they were supposed to be used. However the Bodyshop state that you can use the oil on body, face and hair for moisturising, smoothing and illuminating. I started out by using a little bit of the oil in my hair as a serum substitute. I then tried it on my face as a night time moisturiser and finally on parts of my body as a softener. The oil could also potentially be used like a massage oil but I have not tried that.
I've found that with both the Chocomania oil and this Coconut Oil that they are thinner and more watery than I'd expect an oil to be. The runny consistency means that a tiny bit of oil goes a long way. It also means that the oil can be difficult to dispense and handle. When turning the bottle upside down you have to be careful not to squeeze the bottle and just tap it instead. Otherwise the liquid squirts out and you end up with far too much. Literally a few drops of this will suffice at first and then if needed you can add more but I personally always find a few drops is plenty.
Although the oil feels and looks thin and watery once you rub it in you can see that it is quite rich and glossy. On the skin it tends to look like it has soaked in and left a shiny ribbon on the surface. You can continue to rub and this high shine will lessen somewhat but your skin looks supple and treated like a wax-polished shoe! If you rub in just a small amount of oil then there is no lasting greasiness or slippery feeling. I can use the oil on my hands, for instance, without it feeling uncomfortable and I am able to touch my clothes etc. very quickly after application.
This is a soothing and comfortable moisturising agent on the face although it is probably only suitable for moisturising if you want a bare, shiny face or if you want to moisturise your face overnight. I opt for the latter and find the oil keeps my skin feeling soft all night. When I wake up in the morning my skin looks like it has had a long drink and is now peachy and healthy looking. I do have combination skin but the already oily areas of my face don't react badly to the beautifying oil and I've had no pimples or redness.
The oil can also be used on the skin on the body. I find that it's best to use on smaller areas where you can more easily work the oil in though. So I like to target my knees, elbows, hands and feet. Again, I'd be happy to apply this before dressing since as long as you don't use an excessive amount the oil sinks in and does not leave the skin greasy. The oil is quite good at softening areas with rough or tough skin although I have used better agents on my feet.
I love to use the Beautifying oil in my hair. It works brilliantly as a serum substitute or like a calming balm. It makes hair shiny and silky as it tames frizzy bits. I also love the fact that it smells so wonderful and it's a strong fresh smell that people comment on when I'm out and about. The fragrance of the oil is most noticeable and lasting when used in my hair. I've also been told you can use it like a conditioner during the washing process although I haven't tried that yet.
The oil contains a number of high quality and impressive ingredients such as Coconut Oil from Samoa and Marula oil from Namibia, sunflower seed oil, Sclerocarya Birrea Seed Oil (not sure what this is!) and sweet almond oil. The Bodyshop don't test on animals and use some Fair Trade Ingredients too.
A bottle costs £9 which I think is a reasonable price since the product is so versatile and works well in every area of the body where it's used! I would buy this again and would recommend this to females who are looking for a great product that can be used in a number of ways.

The product I am reviewing is Coconut Beautifying Oil from The Body Shop. Their range is beautifying oils are perfect for a shimmering finish on your face and body and you can even use a few drops of the oil on your hair to soften it. The oils are made with a lightweight blend of nut oils including their community fair trade marula oil, which quickly absorbs into your skin leaving it freshly hydrated. I have actually already used one of the beautifying oils in this range and was really impressed with the results which is why I decided to treat myself to some more. I have recently got into using the Coconut range from The Body Shop as I find the products moisturising and I love the coconut scent that the products leave on your skin. As this oil is coconut it gives your skin a gorgeous tropical scent.
A little of the product goes a long way which means it should last for a decent amount of time before you need to purchase more. The oil comes in a tall clear bottle and you can clearly see the colour of the oil in the bottle which is a pale yellow colour. This is handy as you can see when the product is running low. On the front of the bottle is a coconut which obviously represents that this is from the coconut range. It also clearly states what the product is and that it's from The Body Shop. On the back of the bottle is a label telling you a little about the oil. This label opens to reveal a list of ingredients which is in a number of different languages. The lid to the oil is made from plastic and is gold and the top flips open to reveal a small whole in which the oil dispenses out of. Because the bottle is so small it looks very cute on show in the bathroom and fits nicely into a small bathroom cabinet.

I purchased the oil from The Body Shop website when I had a 50% off code so it made the product reasonably cheap to buy. The oil only comes in a 100ml bottle which is priced at £9.00 so it is rather pricey. I did only purchase the product due to the 50% voucher; otherwise I probably wouldn't have purchased it at all.

Using the Product

Although the product can be used all over the body and can even be used on the face and the hair, I only intended on using the oil for the body. I didn't like the thought of applying this product to my hair as I thought it might make it look a little greasy. After showering and patting my skin dry I got ready to apply the oil to my skin. The bottle that the oil comes in is quite small, which means it is easy to hold in your hand. I flipped open the lid to reveal the small hole in which the oil comes out and I held it at an angle over my other hand and squeezed it a little to ensure some of the oil dispensed into the palm of my hand. The oil was clear in colour and as you can probably imagine was also quite thin which makes it runny. I didn't want to dispense too much of the oil in fear of it making my skin too greasy so I decided that I would use a little at a time. I rubbed the oil over my shoulder and down my arm. The oil felt quite dry and wasn't really greasy as I expected it to be.
I loved the sweet coconut scent that the product had to it, which I could smell when applying the product. I dispensed a little more of the oil and applied it to the other shoulder and arm and then continued applying the oil to the rest of my body. As I kept dispensing the oil the bottle started to get rather oily so you may need a towel to hand to wipe the bottle after use. I did find that with this product a little goes a long way which I was glad about considering the full price of the product. I didn't want to get into bed straight away so I did my nightly facial routine which took at least 5 minutes. The coconut smell from the oil wasn't too strong but it was obvious and I rather liked the smell. My boyfriend on the other hand probably wouldn't be too keen as he's not a fan of coconut. I got dressed into my night clothes and climbed into bed ready for some sleep. The oil gave my skin a nice glow and it made it look healthy and moisturised. I wouldn't have said that it made my skin look shimmery as claimed on The Body Shop website.

The following morning when waking up I noticed that there was no longer that nice exotic coconut smell that was on my skin before going to bed. I was a little disappointed by this as I wouldn't have minded my skin smelling slightly of coconut for a bit longer. My skin on the other hand felt extremely smooth and soft and it felt really moisturised. I was impressed at how different my skin actually felt. The oil definitely moisturised it a lot more than a lotion would. When looking at the bed covers there were no greasy marks on the sheets which was good. My skin not only good but it looked great too. My skin had a radiant like glow to it which made it look healthy.
I often suffer from slightly dry skin during the cooler/winter months so this was the perfect product to use in order to help hydrate my skin. I actually have a small patch of eczema behind my knee and although this didn't get rid of the dry skin totally (I have to use steroid cream on it) it did help to make it appear slightly less dry looking. The oil hadn't irritated this area of dry skin which was good. I use this oil on my skin a few times a week to keep it feeling and looking great. I tend to use a body butter or lotion on the days I don't use the oil. Although the oil does absorb reasonably quickly, I tend to only apply this just before going to get to give it time to work over-night.

Although I have already used one of the other beautifying Oils (Cocoa Butter) and I was impressed with the results, I really wanted to try the Coconut one as it has very high ratings on the Body Shop website. I only treated myself to this due to the voucher I had which meant that I only made £4.50 for the oil. This still seemed a little pricey for the small 100ml bottle; how-ever it was better than paying full price for it. Although it says you can use this product on the face and in the hair, this is not something I have done and probably won't. I don't want to use the oil in my hair in case it makes it greasy and I don't want the oil to upset or cause any breakouts on my face, hence why I have only been using it on my body.
The oil is easy to apply and as it's quite a dry oil and not greasy it doesn't take too long to soak into your skin. I love the gorgeous coconut scent to the oil and I love that it leaves your skin smelling nice. I was disappointed that the smell doesn't last very long though. As soon as I had applied the product I could see that my skin was already looking radiant and healthy. When applying the oil before bed the results in the morning were brilliant. My skin so smooth and soft and because it felt great it made me feel great. I do think the product is quite expensive at full price and I don't think I would pay full price for it. Next time I have a discount voucher/code I will be sure to stock up on this product.
