“ Brand: The Body Shop / Type: Facial Wash / Suitable for: Face / Product line: The Body Shop Men / Gender: for Men / „
I got this face wash one christmas and it works really well in leaving your skin feeling clean and soft. The product does not have the best of smells but apart from that it is great and does its job. I used it twice a day (morning and night) and found that it had no negative effects such as making the skin dry or any irritation that you can often get from face wash products. Also although the price is quite high for a face wash compared to many others I found it was worth it as it does leave your skin in great condition even after the first couple of days of using it. All in all I would recomend it to anyone just like I would all other Body Shop products I have used that are of a really good quality and work very effectively just like they are advertised, unlike all products!
This product, which I notice has since been updated quite largly by The Body Shop, is the only face wash I have used now for about 2 years or so, the updated version is a much more attractive dark blue colour, it comes in a large size which usually lasts me around about a month and I use it every morning and every evening in usualy quantities, although I do lower them towards the end of the month as it starts running out!
This is available from all Body Shop...um, shops, it can be quite quite obviously in the small mens sections they usually have in The Body Shop, for the store is obviously more focussed on women and cosmetics, it is also usually in a 'buy 3, get £5 off' deal, which is useful for me as this is the only stuff I usually buy from the body shop so it allows me to purchase a large amount of it, for relativly cheap and last a long time.
Now, the problem with this product is the cost, I believe up until 2 months or so ago the cost for 125ml, which as I say lasts me a month, was around about £5.70, all of a sudden it has now shot up to over £7 per product, fortunatly I do have a Body Shop card (which costs £10 I think) which not only gets me 10% discount but also 'stamps' towards a £5 and £10 free gift the longer I use it, this face wash being the only thing I buy means I get not only the £5 deal, not only the 10% off but every now and then a free purchase or 2.
The face wash itself is obviously ethical and environmentally friendly, it used to have extracts of seaweed althogh this new version have extracts of maca root with Brazil nut oil from Peru giving it...well, I don't know what reall but it certainly does the job. This new face wash I believe is much better, and a lot better smelling than the previous version for men, as like the last one this is soap free for those who have sensitive skin and it's extrmeley easy to apply and rinse off, it usually takes me around 30 seconds to a minute to apply, leave and then rinse off completley and my skin afterwards feels hugely cleaner and softer which has never happend before really the texture is also rather pleasant, it's not a creamy texture or thick it's rather soft and almost like an oil you'd use in some sort of massge...until it gets wet and bubbles of course, I have rather sensitive skin and this is by far the best face wash I have used.
Basically, for anyone who is willing to pay (fortunatly with my Body Shop card I can) this is a brilliant, soap free, gentle, natural and ethical product which will, or should, make your skin feeling brilliant.
For the past couple of Christmases I have received loads of miniature Health and Beauty products. This trend was started by my girlfriend as a gentle hint to look after my appearence more. As anyone who read my other Body shop for men product reviews this range is great range of products. However I was unsure of the benefits of face wash.
I am a man that has been brought up simply to use soap and hot water. But I have been using this product daily for roughly two weeks since writing my other reviews. So after two weeks daily usage, what do I honestly think of the product.
The product comes in a tube with a flip top lid. This tube comes in two different sizes. The size I received is 50ml and the other size is 100ml. I think the smaller option is only available around the Christmas time of year. The product comes in quite a distinctive tube, which is a greyish, creamy colour. The writing on the tube is very easy to understand and is green is colour, except one line which tells you about the extra good bits that are contained in the product.
Applying the product is simple. Like all of the other products in the range simply put some water on to you face and then squeeze roughly about enough of the product to cover one or two or your fingertips. Once you do this all you have to simply do is rub into your face. I usually leave for one minute before rinsing the face wash away. This product is a clear liquid and is quite has quite a runny consistency. This is not one of those products that actually feels as though it is going to run away from your grasp down the sink.
The product and my results
One of the things that people care about the most in the modern society is ethical companies and products. This product varies from other products in the body shop for man range as the ethical ingredient in the product is see weed from Ireland. The product also contains the usual mix of multi vitamins A, E and B5. The product is 100% soap free and doesnt give any of the bad touch on the skin that the bar of soap does.
So does it make a difference?
Well that I suppose is the burning question - And yes, I think, it does. I was quite presently surprised as I thought I would never want to use the product and it would not improve my traditional soap and water face wash diet. However I was wrong. My face feels so much cleaner then it did two weeks ago and when used in combination with the other products within the range it helps to provide a face that feels extremely fresh and clean. Whilst giving slight citrus smells. Body shop recommend using this product in conjunction with the face scrub, But I would also use the face protector as well.
I also asked my partner what my face smells like after using the product and the answer was that the product gave a slight citrus smell. This product contains a moisturiser to help with the lather process. Body shop are keen to put moisturiser in these products because a mans face has to put up with more, as a result of the rigours of shaving and that moisture to the face is extremely important
The cost implications
So how much doe it cost? The face wash costs £6 for a 100ml tube. I have also used vouchers from womans magazines for the Body Shop for Men range which generally give 20% off. I am relaiably informed that these reguaraly appear in woman's magazines.
I would recommend this product, Although there may be cheaper alternatives out there that I havent tried yet
Thanks for reading
My other half gave me a box set of The Body Shop products. It was a black wash bag with some shower gel, moisturiser, facial scrub and a tube of face wash. I will review the face wash today.
Before meeting 'er indoors I didn't buy special products for my face, I would just use good old soap and water. I can hear the women gasping in disbelief, whilst shaking their heads. I just didn't see the point, it did the same job, made my face clean!
After much moaning and nagging I started to use her cleanser and did notice a difference. Ever since I have used whatever cleanser she buys to keep my face baby soft and nicely clean. She changed from the Avon one she was using and I didn't like her new choice so she even bought me some more of the one I liked from Avon. Then this set came along.
I was doubtful that I would like it as I was so pleased with the way my skin felt with the Avon cleanser I was using previously but I tried it.
This little tube is from The Body Shops 'For men' range. They sell lots of products in the range so that us manly men don't have to smell of flowers. It is only small, containing 50ml, surely that can't last very long. It has a flip top lid and the tube is dark cream, nothing too impressive to be honest.
The flip top lid makes it easy to dispense the liquid and keeps it mess free.
It is a clear liquid with the slightest green hue to it. This is rather watery compared with others I have used but that doesn't really make much difference to its usage. I don't need much to get a good lather from it and do my entire face and neck area.
Rinsing doesn't take long it actually washes off very easily.
My skin is left very clean and feeling refreshed.
My skin stays feeling clean for a good period of time after using this each morning. 'Er indoors says that my face smells nice after using this face wash too.
I don't have sensitive skin and it isn't dry. This face wash hasn't made my skin dry or tight and it hasn't caused any kind of reaction but those with sensitive skin might have a reaction to it, as with all products.
The tube says that it contains multi vitamins A, E and B5 as well as seaweed to purify and condition. Didn't change the condition of my skin, are they just false promises to sell more tubes? I don't know but they haven't harmed my skin so it doesn't matter. Maybe they do help your skin but only over a long period of time.
I have checked the individual price of this item on The Body Shops website which can be used to purchase from (www.thebodyshop.co.uk) and a 100ml tube costs £6. I don't think that is bad value. The fact that I don't use much each time means this tube is lasting well.
Will I buy this off my own back, no probably not but that is just because I never buy face wash for myself. If it is bought for me again I will certainly use it. Would it be my first choice, no. I like the Avon one that I had gotten used to using. I have used a few other face washes that I have preferred to this one but didn't dislike it, therefore I am going to give it three stars, as it is just OK!
