Advantages: Incredibly nourishing and moisturising
Disadvantages: None at all
I absolutely love The Body Shop's hemp range but wasn't quite sure whether or not I should buy the face protector as I thought that it would be as thick as the body butter, which put me off. I was also concerned that it would have the same smell as the body butter, which is quite an odd one. It's a pleasant enough smell, but I didn't like the idea of having the cream on my face as I thought that the smell may be a little overpowering. I eventually decided to try it when I saw that The Body Shop had a recent 50 percent sale on and I'm really glad that I did - it's nothing like I was expecting and it's a really effective moisturiser.
This facial moisturiser retails at £8.00 per 50ml pot, which I know seems quite expensive but I assure you it is worth it. The quality is amazing and the effects on my skin were noticeable straight away and any dry patches had gone after the first 2/3 days of using it, plus it dried up a spot that I'd had on my chin for over a week and got rid of it within a few days! I managed to get mine for £4.00 and even at this price I must admit that I felt a little ripped off when it arrived - the pot it comes in is tiny!! Luckily though the pot is full to the brim with product and a little goes a long way - you don't need to lather it on to get results and I only need two fingertip sized blobs for the whole of my face, which is impressive considering how dry my skin has been recently.
The pot that the moisturiser comes in is black with a grey lid. The pot has a green label wrapped around it which has the product name and the body shop logo. The lid has a circular label on it which is half green, half black and again, the body shop logo and product name are written on it as well as a picture of a hemp leaf. The label peels back to reveal a list of ingredients, a brief product description, company contact details and so on. It also states that The Body Shop are against animal testing, so this is a cruelty and guilt free product. It's dermatologically tested and is best suited to very dry skin.
The lid screws on and off meaning that I need to dip my fingers in and out of the pot when applying the cream, which is obviously slightly less hygienic than a pump bottle would be but this doesn't bother me - it's worth mentioning though. This is described as The Body Shop as an intensive facial moisturiser which soothes and rehydrates very dry skin. They say that it creates a protective barrier of moisture on the skin, which protects the skin in extreme weather conditions. I have got quite dry skin - especially on my t zone, so this seemed perfect for me, and it is!
Despite my concerns it is nothing like the hemp body butter - it's lovely and lightweight and it sinks into my skin within seconds; my skin literally starts soaking up every last bit of it as soon as it makes contact! This does not smell at all like the rest of the hemp range - the smell is much more gentle and it's nice and refreshing. It smells a little like lemon and cucumbers in my opinion. The scent does not linger for very long at all and it leaves no residue behind either. The cream is a very light green but it leaves no green streaks or anything like that on my skin and my skin is left feeling incredibly soft, nourished and hydrated pretty much instantly.
I also find that this is really refreshing as it has a slight cooling effect when applied and the fragrance is nice and fresh as well. I have been using this daily each morning and night for the past week and a half and already I can see a difference. My skin has no dryness or flakiness at all, not even inbetween my eyebrows which is where it usually becomes gross and dry. My skin has a silky feel to it and I've noticed that my skin even appears more hydrated as it has that subtle (non greasy) sheen to it which makes my skin look nice and healthy. Overall, I love this product and I can't recommend it enough!!
Summary: I love it!
