“ Brand: The Body Shop / Texture: Cream / Type: Night Cream / Skin type: for dry skin and for all types / What it does: Enriches / Product line: The Body Shop Jojoba „
I am prone to dry skin and am occasionally even victim to facial eczema and flakiness. Not a good look I'm sure you'll agree. This is the only moisturiser I have ever used (and trust me, you could buy a new wardrobe with the amount of high end, designer and so called magic moisturisers I have tried) that helps.
It is light and creamy, absorbs immediately into the skin and smells gorgeous too! It leaves my skin feeling refreshed and hydrated. Gone is the usual tightness and itchiness, gone are the awful red splodges, gone the embarrassment. If you have dry skin and are considering buying this cream, seriously, just go for it. You will not be disappointed. Many a times, friends, family and people at work have borrowed this (as I always, always carry one around with me) and have ended up buying one themselves. I think the fact that it's so easily absorbed and yet so effective is it's strongest selling point, as most strong moisturisers are thick and don't really glide across the skin well.
Overall, a great product! Would and have recommended and purchased again and again and again!
I have noticed this last few years, since I turned 30 really, that my skin does not have the elasticity that it used to, especially on my face where, if anything it has actually become drier than ever. I have always been prone to pretty dry skin but was also blessed with a clear complexion and I hardly every wear make up unless its a special occasion.
My skin care routine has always been rather minimal and I have got away with that for a long time, until I was in my mid twenties all I had to do was wash my face once a day and it was fine, I wasn't even that bothered what I used to wash it with and regularly just used whatever soap was in the bathroom.
Mid twenties I realised I should probably start taking more care of the skin on my face and began routinely using alcohol free cleansers and moisturising whenever I thought about it. In the last few years I began moisturising every day with the day cream version of this product, the Jojoba Day Cream which is very mild and does not irritate my skin with any heavy scent, it also melts in very easily and is no hassle.
I started noticing over the last year that despite the fact I moisturise every morning without fail, my skin is always dry when I wake up. I started thinking maybe I should invest in a night cream and so in the christmas sales I picked up this one from the Body Shop.
Full price this retails for £8 a pot, the same as the day cream, but the pots do last a long time. Using them daily they last me about 4 months each so it works out as pretty good value for money.
The night cream is noticably thicker than the day cream but it still sinks in pretty well. I always put it on after cleansing my face last thing at night. It feels very soothing to apply it to my skin but it does feel quite heavy and my skin feels moist afterwards, this cream would not be ideal as a day cream but if you put it on before bed (as you are meant to) then it works a treat.
I can tell straight away the difference in my skin first thing in a morning, it does not feel dry and there are no patchy bits across my cheeks. I feel like it is helping to maintain my skin and now it is a part of my routine I will definitely be sticking with it.
This product has no scent so is also handy for anyone with sensitive skin.
Unfortunately I was told by a shop assistant in my local store that the Jojoba skin care range is being phased out this year and will be replaced by a similar line once all stock is depleted, I would therefore suggest that if you want to try this product you do so quickly before it disappears from our shelves, I have already stocked up on a couple of tubs which should keep me going for most of this year - and I shall be sorry to see it go.
Whilst packing for my recent holiday trip I did pack a daytime moisturiser thinking oh well I'll use it at night if I want to or need to. However not only did I run out.... I was sleeping in minus temperatures in a caravan for over 3 weeks!
Not only that I was walking on windy beaches and all sorts and the weather really did dry my poor old face out to the point it felt really dry and appeared a bit flaky in patches!
So when I was out shopping in the January sales I picked up this! Reduced from £8.00 to a couple of quid I really felt it was a bargain and I know how highly alot of reviewers on here deem The Body Shop to be, me however I normally refuse to pay their prices though I quite often nosey about the store and have done for years!
50ml round light creamy coloured pot with a peachy coloured label to the top of the lid and to the sides of the pot and said lid simply twists on and off with ease. On the lid label I'm told it is The Body Shop Night Cream For Normal/Dry Skin 'Intense moisturization and nourishment whilst you sleep', then I'm told that information in a foreign language (French I think) and then the size is stated as I've listed already. On the sides of the pot again in dark green writing I'm told what the product is and who it is by. On the bottom of the pot other information includes being given contact details for The Body Shop. It's a simple little, easy to open pot and a handy size for packing if like me you want to take it on your travels!
The Cream Itself:
Well all you do with this is of course is apply it before you go to sleep onto a clean and dry face...yep it's that simple lol!
The cream itself is white and of a stiffish consistency. It has a slight smell of flowers to it really but not in an in your face way and the smell is entirely pleasant and wears off after a few minutes of applying it anyway.
All you need of this is a small blob and then you gently massage it into your face as you would any other sort of moisturiser really. On touch with the skin it tends to melt slightly and therefore it makes a little of this go a very long way indeed and it absorbs into the skin ever so quickly indeed!
I like the ease of applying this and the fact is does absorb so well meaning it doesn't transfer onto my bedding (a big plus with this moisturiser is my opinion lol).
However it does make your face feel slightly clammy and slightly heavy after applying this. Not overly so but I can tell where I have applied this to and where I haven't. Of course though this is to wear as you sleep so it doesn't matter so much.
I have incredibly sensitive skin that is really prone to spots and blackheads and this has not made any pop up more thank goodness. It doesn't make my sensitive eyes weep or sting either and like I mentioned previously I do like the way this is so easy to apply.
Although this is a rich formulation it doesn't tingle my open pores or any spots I already possess on my face either so all round it's a good little moisturiser in that way!
I also feel that this really does hydrate the skin deeply. Not overly so and the next morning I wipe/wash my face and all traces are removed with ease but I feel this hydrates from within my skin, gently, and my face feels more supple and soft to the touch the day after I have used this. Also I feel that it is so rich in natural jojoba oils that not only am I left feeling like my skin has had a good guzzle but that because of that my wrinkles and small lines feel softer and look less apparent.
All In All:
A really good and reliable moisturiser that really is packed with all good things. Suitable for really dry skin in my opinion, after a few days of using this people started to comment how much healthier I looked and that I had a glow about me! I really like this on every level and it simply works every night to refresh tired and dull looking complexions!
Only available in The Body Shop and the daytime version of this moisturiser is also usually sold at £8.00 a pot!
