Advantages: strong and durable, soft and absorbant

Disadvantages: the cost

I do normally just buy cotton pads wherever I happen to be shopping at the time whenever I've ran out of them, so it ranges from Boots and Superdrug, to Sainsburys and Tesco etc. I normally just buy whichever cotton pads look like the best value, I don't buy the cheapest, thinnest ones though I'm not that much of a skinflint.

A few weeks ago I went away for the weekend with my sister, and I'd forgotten to pack any cotton pads. I was just going to pick some up in Boots in the airport, but my sister said that she had a brand new pack in her case and so we should just share those. She had these organic cotton rounds from The Body Shop. I hadn't used these before, as to be honest cotton pads aren't something that I'd think to buy from The Body Shop, primarily because I'd say that they're too expensive.

I am actually right about the cost as I've since found out that these are expensive - £2.50 for a pack of 100. However I was so impressed with the ones that my sister gave me that I've continued to buy them for myself. My sister swears by these and she says that these are the only cotton pads that she will buy now, and to be honest I think that she has probably converted me as well as these are definitely now my favourite, I can definitely tell the difference between these ones and the cheaper ones.

These come packaged like cotton pads you'd buy anywhere, all stacked on top of one another in a clear bag with the drawstring top so that you can close the packet to keep your remaining pads clean and dust free. You can buy packs of 100 small round cotton pads, or packs of 50 larger square cotton pads, both costing £2.50. I buy the rounds as I think that £2.50 is expensive for 100, let alone for only 50! The cotton pads have a different texture on each side, one side is plain and smooth, and the other side has a kind of a cross hatch pattern on it. I normally use the plain side for my face, and the patterned side for nail polish remover.

These are so super soft, I think that I can safely say that they are definitely the softest cotton pads that I've used. They feel really soft on my skin and don't irritate my skin at all. They are also really quite thick compared to most of the cotton pads that I normally buy, I find that I actually use less of the product that I'm putting onto the cotton pad with these as I find that the cotton pad doesn't soak it all up, I find that the product 'sits' on the cotton pad to a certain extent so that it goes all onto your skin rather than just being absorbed by the pad. They are really strong and durable and don't fall apart when loaded up with make up remover or nail polish remover etc. They also don't shred and leave annoying bits of fluff on your face or your nails.

Overall yes these are very expensive for cotton pads, but I think that you definitely get what you pay for with these, the quality is superb, far better than the cheaper cotton pads. I will definitely be buying these rather than any others in the future.

Summary: expensive, but worth it
