Advantages: Smells gorgeous, effective and leaves me skin feeling beautifully clean and fresh
Disadvantages: My skin feels a little tight after using
As I have a huge hoard of brand new toiletries consisting of half used bottles, tubs and tubes I have been on a self imposed ban since Christmas where I am using all of my products before purchasing anything new. In amongst my stash was a half used bottle of The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash and I was surprised I had not finished the bottle, particularly as I absolutely adore the aroma of this range.
I have specifically avoided both The Body Shop and Lush for a good few months as I cannot resist temptation, but whenever I visit The Body Shop I am always impressed by the way in which they display their products. The Tea Tree range is easily recognised and stands out on the shelf with all of the products being packaged in a similar manner with their vibrant green colours. The 150 ml of wash reminds me of a paler version of the original bright green coloured Fairy washing up liquid and is contained within a transparent plastic bottle. The product is suited to those who suffer with blemished skin and whilst I rarely suffer with spots I would describe my skin as T-zone where my nose and forehead can become considerably oily. Consequently, I always seek out oil free facial products so not to exacerbate the problem.
The flip top lid is easily opened, but when scrutinising the bottle for reviewing purposes I note that there is slight wear on the one hinged area, so I suspect that before long it will snap. This seems to be a problem with a few of the bottles that I have purchased from The Body Shop, which is a little frustrating, particularly as I wish to keep the contents free of any dust and dirt. The wash is of a good consistency and is easily dispensed from the bottle. The refreshing and extremely uplifting aroma of Organic Community Trade tea tree is immediately evident and it offers the most stunning and authentic aroma unlike some brands I have previously used.
I use a variety of face washing products, which I will alternate, but tea tree is one of my favourites due to its antiseptic and cleansing properties. Only a small amount is needed, which I apply to my dampened face and gently rub in to create a good lather. The product is easily rinsed away with warm water without leaving any stickiness and I then splash my skin with cold to help tighten the pores. I love the sensation that this facial wash offers my skin as it reminds me of the feeling when you drink a glass of cold water directly after cleaning your teeth.
My skin feels wonderfully clean and fresh and whilst I experience a slight tightness on my cheeks, this soon disappears leaving me with soft and silky smooth skin. A point I find favourable is that the gorgeous tea tree aroma remains linger on my skin for a short while afterwards. As I suffer with dryness on my cheeks and neck area I will always finish my beauty regime with a good quality moisturiser. It is always difficult to fully evaluate if these types of products actually combat excess oils and remove impurities, but I definitely believe this product has huge benefits and it helps to keep my skin in tip top condition.
I do not believe in copying lengthy lists of ingredients into my reviews unless I suffer with any adverse effects when using and I would advise that this is not the case other than for the slight tightness in my neck. The product should be used within 12 months of opening and the bottle can be recycled after use. The face wash is available in only 250 ml size bottle at a cost of £4.50, which I feel is pretty good value for money in comparison with the prices on some of The Body Shop's other products. This face wash receives 5 stars from me and once I have finished using all of my toiletries stash I will more than likely make a further purchase.
I hope you found my review useful and thanks for reading.
Summary: A good quality refreshing facial wash
