The Body Shop Tea Tree Lotion
Advantages: Helps clear skin, lightweight formula and absorbs easily.
Disadvantages: Squeezable tube, dehydrates dry skin and expensive!
-- Reasons for buying --
I received this in a gift set, that my mum bought me to clear up my skin after my acne has flared up again. I had read many positive reviews about this product and the others in the Tea Tree range. I was worried about this drying out my skin, as my skin is already dry and this wasn't very moisturising.
-- The claim --
The Clearing lotion is said to provide light-weight hydration, easily absorbed, with shine control for a matte finish and contains antibacterial actions. Like the rest of the Tea Tree range is also clinically proven to give clearer looking skin.
-- The appearance --
This lotions come in a light green squeezable tube with a transparent flip open lid. The lid makes it easy to secure the product inside and protect it from any leakages. Around the tube is a label stating the name of the product, some information about the product. Also on the back is some ingredients contained in the lotion which are of course all natural!
-- Using the product --
I mix a small amount of this with my usual moisturiser and place a pea sized amount on my forehead, cheeks, nose and chin and massage it gently into my skin morning and night, until all the product has been absorbed!
-- My experience --
This product left my skin feeling really refreshed and a nice tingly sensation. Because my skin is quite dry and the formula of the product being a very lightweight hydration, I did find it didn't give my skin the moisture it needed. So instead of using this product on its own, I mixed a little of my usual hydrating moisturiser just so it didn't dehydrate my skin.
After a about I did notice really good results, from using this along with the other products out of the Tea Tree range. My skin looked clearer, the spots I did have were very much less inflamed and irritated and my skin cleared very quickly. I have also noticed less breakouts, only around the time of the month, which I think is fantastic!
I also do not like the fact that the tube is not transparent as you cannot see how much of the product you have left which can be a pain, compared to the other products in the Tea Tree range that have transparent bottles. I find it very hard to get on with the tube as it's squeezable, which means when there is only the tiniest bit of the product left, I end up having to cut the tube to be able to get the last bit of product out which causes me some inconvenience.
This would be great for people with oily or combination skin as it is very light weight and keeps shine away. As my skin is quite dry, I would say it is the best product for my skin but it has still definitely helped at keeping my breakouts down to a minimum!
-- Price and availability --
This is available in all Body Shop stores and also online. It is £7 for 50ml. For me the price is very expensive for the small amount you receive. Especially as the other Tea Tree products I got with the gift set are about £5 and you get a lot more quantity. So I was quite disappointed at how expensive it was. But as my skin is quite dry and this doesn't give a lot of moisture to my skin, I probably wouldn't repurchase this as the other products seem to be helping my skin a lot more!
-- Conclusion --
I would recommend this product to anyone with oily/combination skin. But it can be quite dehydrating for dry skin as the formula is very lightweight. Although it has helped amongst the other products to clear my skin, I wouldn't use it again myself as it is quite expensive for the amount of product you receive.
Summary: Great product, could do with some slight improvements and could be a little cheaper!
