Advantages: Smells absolutely gorgeous, effective and gentle on the skin

Disadvantages: A little pricey when not on offer

I love beautiful toiletries and despite owning enough to probably set up a shop of my own I cannot resist purchasing something knew, particularly when there's a bargain to be found. I'm a fan of a number of brands; one of which is The Body Shop where the majority of my purchases are made from their extensive range of body butters and lotions. However, whilst heading for the exit a few months ago a product that caught my eyes was their Vitamin C Cleansing Face Polish, which was reduced from £9 to £4, so of course, I simply could not leave it on the shelf. I have now had the opportunity to try and test the product and I would like to share with you my thoughts and experience.

I've always taken good care of my skin and over the years have used dozens of different brands. However, our skin is only as good as the food that we eat, so keeping it in tip top condition can be achieved through a healthy balanced diet, exercise, obtaining the correct amount of sleep and using products that are designed for our particular skin type. I suffer with T-zone skin, which can become rather oily on my forehead and nose and I frequently have dry areas on my cheeks and chin.

APPEARANCE OF THE PRODUCT

I cannot say that I found the packaging eye-catching and the only thing that caught my eye was the bright orange sale sticker! Unfortunately, Dooyoo have not used the image that I provided with my product suggestion and I would advise that we are presented with 100 ml of polish, which is contained within a rusty orange coloured plastic tube that sits on a transparent plastic flip top lid. There is a little information on the front of the tube where we are informed that the polish is gentle enough for daily use and is suited to all skin types.

USING THE POLISH

There is a little information contained on the reverse of the tube where we are advised to apply onto dampened skin and massage using a circular movement. The pale orange polish easily dispenses from the tube and its' appearance looks identical to that of Sanctuary's Body Scrub, which is of a good consistency with dozens of tiny darker orange grains, which are the gentle micro-beads. When I massage the easy to apply product over the surface of my skin I can feel the tiny beads working their magic where there are removing any dull skin cells. Whilst I am unable to find anything on either the tube or The Body Shop's website in relation to the gorgeous aroma, I can detect a beautiful and very refreshing citrus scent that reminds me of fresh oranges.

The polish feels very luxurious when it touches my skin, as despite the dozens of micro-beads, it is very soothing to the touch and I find that only a small amount is needed on each occasion. As I gently massage it all over my face a light lather is created, which strengthens the gorgeous zesty aroma. I ensure that I pay particular attention to problematic areas, such as the corners of the nose and my chin whilst not forgetting my neck; an area that is often neglected by many people. I rinse with warm water, splash with cold to tighten the pores and then carefully towel dry. I find that some brands of scrub can be quite drying and as a result, cause tightness, but this is not the case with this polish, as it always leaves my skin feeling silky soft and smooth.

I find the polish extremely effective and as far as I am concerned it effectively removes dirt and impurities leaving my skin both looking and feeling brighter as well as radiant. I generally use this product two to three times a week although I am of the opinion that it is gentle enough for daily use. There is no sticky residue on my skin after use and I have never suffered any adverse effects. As previously stated, the RRP for this polish is £9 and I really cannot say that I would pay that amount of money, as whilst The Body Shop obtain one of the ingredients, namely aloe vera from Guatemala as part of their Community Trade programme, I do feel that it is a little overpriced. If I were to rate this product solely on its' abilities alone it would receive five stars from me, but unfortunately, it loses one due to its' price.

INGREDIENTS AND OTHER INFORMATION

You should be aware that I do not believe in copying lengthy lists of ingredients into my reviews and generally point out those that I believe to be key. As stated above, the polish contains aloe vera as well as camu camu berry. The polish should be used within 12 months of opening and the tube can be recycled once empty.

I hope you found my review useful and would thank you for reading.
