Advantages: Cleanses effectively, nice smell which invigorates, added exfoliation
Disadvantages: Small tube for the price
My sister in law gave this product to me to try as she had stocked up on loads of items from the Body Shop website when they had an offer on recently. I had actually considered buying it myself before as I have an eye cream and eye roller from the Body Shop vitamin C range which I love. This range really appeals to me due to its bright packaging and the fact it is supposed to improve the skin's radiance, making it look healthy and fresh.
=== My experience of using this product ====
This facial cleansing polish is a combination of cleanser and exfoliator. It is a thick gel containing small scrub particles in the form of rounded beads. When you squeeze the cleansing polish out of the tube you are hit with a lovely, fruity and refreshing whoosh of orange scent. This is quite unusual for a facial cleansing product as they are usually more neutrally scented in my experience. The scent is more like what I would expect from a shower gel but I like it. I think it is quite envigorating as it is a citrus, slightly tangy fragrance and not too sweet or cloying. It certainly helps me wake up a bit in the morning.
I rub the gel in my wet hands and massage it into the damp skin of my face. It creates some lather, but not a huge amount and the texture of the gel remains quite thick. Although I generally prefer a bit more lather, I don't mind this as I do feel that it is giving my skin a thorough clean.
The beads are small and quite sparsely mixed through the gel, so the scrubbing and exfoliating effect is subtle. This means you could definitely use it more frequently than a full on scrub. I have been using it in the mornings and another cleanser at night, and have had no irritation at all from daily exfoliation with this cleansing polish. It is very gentle.
The cleansing polish can simply be rinsed off very easily.
This leaves my skin feeling clean and refreshed. I haven't noticed any real difference in the appearance of my skin, but luckily I generally have a clear complexion anyway and follow a good facial skincare routine every day, so I didn't expect to see any particularly visible difference from this new cleanser.
=== Packaging ===
The cleansing polish comes in a 100 ml tube with a flip top cap. The cleanser is dispensed easily by squeezing. It is quite easily to control the amount but I would prefer a pump action bottle which gives you exactly the right amount. The design is fresh and attractive with bold orange and simple writing without too much fuss. It stands out on the shelf and it does really appeal to me as I think I associate the orange with health and radiance. The plastic of the tube is quite thick, not too flimsy, and the flip top is also sturdy and I don't think the tube would be at risk of splitting or leaking in an over night bag.
=== Value ====
The 100 ml tube costs £9. I think this is actually quite expensive considering I normally see Body Shop as quite an afforable, mid-range shop. Because the tube is so small, this cleanser costs more than my usual Clinique cleanser which is £14 for 200 ml.
I will definitely look out for this when offers are on, as they seem to come around quite often on the Body Shop website, but I probably wouldn't pay £9. The cleanser is very nice and I am happy to use it but I would have expected to pay about £6 for it.
Summary: I will get it again but I will wait for the sale!
