“ Brand: The Body Shop / Type: Cleansing Wipes / Suitable for: Face / What it does: Smoothes, Cleanses, Protects / Product line: The Body Shop Vitamin E „
The vitamin E range from The Body shop is one of my favourite facial product ranges. I think they have some really good working products that are well priced but do make my skin feel lovely and I have been a user and fan for quite a number of years now.
The Body shop say that these wipesremove make-up and impurities, cleanse, tone, moisturize and protect the skin, leaving it feeling refreshed, soft and smooth.Instead of just removing the dirt like some other wipes do these actually put something back into your skin, leaving your face not only clean but treated as well and healthy.
The wipes come in a handy little pack and you just pull them out from the top which is quite easy. I find that you really only need one wipe per use and this will really work on my whole face and I do not need to use another one which is fine. As well as my face I like to wipe them over my neck too to really get a nice clean facial area. The wipes are somewhat moist but not overly so, so you feel that you are adding a bit of moisture to your face but not wetting it.
The wipes have a really nice soft texture to them and this softness definitely transfers over to my face. When you rub the wipes inbetween your fingers you can feel a bit of vitamin E lotion on them and so you know that they are going to be soft and caring. They are sort of scented and smell like the rest of the vitamin E products in the product range. Its a bit hard to describe but its a pleasant creamy smell that smells nice on my skin after use.
I love to use these when I have gotten out of the swimming pool. My face always feel a bit dirty after I have finished swimming and also quite dry so these are the perfect wipes to really add moisture back to my face and make it soft and nourished again. The wipes are priced at £6 for a pack which I think is slightly pricey but definitely worth it.
==Price and Availability==
I really like The Body Shop's Vitamin E range and received a gift set for Christmas last year. Part of this set was these Gentle Facial Cleansing Wipes. A pack of these wipes if bought individually is £6 which in my opinion is pretty expensive and a lot more than I usually pay for a pack of cleansing wipes. Mainly due to the price I'd never tried these wipes before but was glad when I received them in my gift set as I'd get to see if they were worth the money.
==The Body Shop Vitamin E Gentle Facial Cleansing Wipes==
The wipes come as wipes usually do in a plastic packet with a sticker which keeps the wipes fresh, there's 25 wipes in the pack. These wipes are said to remove make up and impurities, helping to cleanse, tone, moisturize and protect the skin, leaving it feeling refreshed, soft and smooth. The Vitamin E contained in the wipes is used to moisturise and as an antioxidant to protect skin from the environment. The wipes are bio degradable and suitable for all skin types.
These Vitamin E wipes have the lovely, subtle florally scent to them that all the products in the Vitamin E range do. The wipes are very soft and feel good quality; the wipes themselves are nice and thick with just the right amount of wetness to them. When wiping the face with these wipes they have an almost creaminess to them, the moisturising properties are easy to feel. I wouldn't really say that these wipes make my face feel clean as such, mainly because of the creaminess. The wipes feel really gentle; they're really soft on the skin making it feel nourished. I have used these wipes after wearing light and heavy makeup, and on every occasion I've found them to be very effective. The gentleness of the wipes means they're suitable for removing eye make up to, even with my sensitive eyes I've never had any problems and make up has always been easily removed. After using these wipes my face is left feeling lovely and soft as well as having a brighter appearance.
I really enjoyed using these wipes; they're gentle and effective making them a pleasure to use. Since using the pack up though I haven't bought them again for the simple fact that they're too expensive. I aren't brand loyal when it comes to face wipes and usually pick up whatever is on offer and I never usually pay more than about £3, usually a lot less. Although these wipes are lovely I just couldn't justify spending £6 on them which is a major disadvantage for me.

The product I am reviewing is the Vitamin E cleansing wipes from The Body Shop. I have heard mixed reviews about this product so I thought I would try them myself to see what they were like and to see if they were worth the money. I am a huge fan of the Vitamin E range and love the range of products so I did have high hopes for these cleansing wipes. The wipes are convenient and easy to use. They remove make-up and impurities to help cleanse, tone, moisturise and protect the skin leaving it feeling refreshed, soft and smooth. The products contain Vitamin E and antioxidant protection. I sometimes suffer from dry skin on my face, particularly the forehead so I wanted something gentle that was going to be kind to my skin. I normally use Simple Facial Wipes which I find work really well; how-ever these can make the dry skin on my face sometimes sore and irritated.
The wipes come in pale pink packaging which is made from strong plastic that is smooth to the touch. All the products in the Vitamin E range come in pale pink packaging so it's easy to tell where this product is from. On the top of the packaging it states what the product is and it also states that they remove make-up and impurities. It states that there are 25 wipes in the packet. On the side of the packed it states that the wipes are biodegradable. You will also find a list of ingredients on the side of the pack as well. On the bottom of the packaging it lists the ingredients in different languages. It also states that the wipes mustn't be flushed and that the pack must be sealed afterwards to stop the wipes from drying out.

I purchased these from The Body Shop website for £6.00. There are lot of other products in the Vitamin E range, some of which are listed below:

The wipes have a plastic seal which simply peels back to reveal a small hole in which you can see the wipes. It's easy to pull a wipe out from the pack to use. The plastic seal simply sticks back to ensure the wipes don't dry out. It doesn't actually state whether the wipes remove waterproof mascara or not. I don't really wear waterproof mascara so I am not going to be able to test the wipes on this. The wipe was thinner than what I was expecting and were a lot thinner that the Simple wipes I am used to using. The wipes seemed quite damp and they had a very light scent to them which smelt clean and fresh and reminded me a little of the smell of baby wipes. The first time I used the wipes I just needed to cleanse my face as I didn't have any cotton wool left to use with the cleansing lotion or toner that I use so I thought I would use one of the wipes instead. As I used the wipe on my face it felt really cool and refreshing. I gave my face a good wipe all over and then looked at the wipe where I could see some of the dirt that it removed. After using the wipe my face felt clean, refreshed and cool. The wipes were kind to my skin and didn't cause any irritation.
I would use the wipes again to remove my make up so I can record how good the wipes are at doing this. I had applied mascara (not waterproof) and some eyeliner before going to work and I needed to remove the make up before going to bed and using cleanser and toner on my face. This was the perfect opportunity to use the wipes to see how good they were at removing the make up. I used the wipe on my face first wiping away any traces of dirt which may have been on my face. I then used the wipe to wipe gently over my eyes which removed some of the eye make up. I rubbed gently at the eye using the wipe and more of the eyeliner and mascara was removed. I repeated the same process on the other side. I did have to rub slightly more at my eyes than I would with the Simple wipes that I normally use to remove my make up. I could clearly see the amount of make up the wipes had removed. My skin wasn't left feeling really smooth and soft but it did feel slightly soft to touch and it left my face feeling cool, clean and fresh. The wipes didn't irritate my eyes or cause them to become sore which is what the Simple wipes sometimes do particularly when I get dry skin round my eyes. I found the wipes to be gentle and kind to my skin and they didn't dry my skin out or cause any blemishes the day after using the wipes.

I have to admit that after reading some of the reviews about this product I didn't have very high hopes of the wipes, how-ever I was quite surprised at how good the wipes were and I was impressed at how good a job they did at removing make up. I've heard some people say that these wipes made their skin dry; how-ever they didn't dry my skin out at all. After using the wipes I love the cool, fresh, clean feeling they leave your face and the wipes would feel particularly nice to use on a hot day to cool down your face. The wipes do just a good job as my Simple wipes at removing my make up and they didn't make the dry skin round my eyes sore, in fact it felt quite soothing. In terms of value I do think the wipes are rather pricey as they are double the price of what I would normally pay for the Simple wipes that I use. I like the fact that the wipes aren't too wet and are slightly damp. As the wipes are quite pricey, I think I will only purchase the wipes when on offer or if I have a discount code that I can use online to get money of the wipes. I would recommend these wipes to others (despite other bad reviews) as I found that they do a great job at removing make up and leave my skin feeling cool and refreshed. The wipes won't suit all skin types but they suited my skin just fine.

I have brought and used these, again when body shop are offering a special deal. They are a nice quality thick wipe and one is more than ample for removing make up - however much and leaving skin clean and fresh. I like the scent of this body shop product and it is good used in addition to others in the range. The packaging is good and the sticky lid actually sticks on these wipes for the duration of owning the product unlike others on the marked. In short I do feel these wipes do everything the body shop claims they do however they do nothing additional to what other cheaper wipes on the market do. I enjoyed using these however due to the cost feel there are much better alternatives out there that deliver as well as these at a cheaper price so offer much better value than these wipes by the body shop
As anyone who regularly reads my reviews will know, I am a great fan of most of The Body Shop products. I say most of them because I have occasionally tried one that I didn't like but not very often.
On a recent trip to The Body Shop the face care items were on offer at buy three and get the cheapest one free so I decided to try the Vitamin E Gentle Facial Cleansing Wipes. The standard cost of these wipes is £5.50 for a pack containing 25 wipes which is fairly expensive but if you take advantage of an offer and if, like me, you have a Love Your Body Card to get an extra 10% off then the price becomes much more reasonable.
The wipes come in a pink packet matching all the other items in the Vitamin E range. On the front of the packet there is the traditional Body Shop logo with the name - Vitamin E Gentle Facial Cleansing Wipes and a short description 'One stop cleansing and toning to remove make up, impurities and dull skin cells. With Vitamin E antioxidant protection. ALL SKIN TYPES.' This information is then repeated in French.
Having taken a look at The Body Shop website at www.thebodyshop.co.uk I have found that the wipes contain Vitamin E (not a great surprise there!) which is a naturally powerful antioxidant and helps to protect the skin from the environment and is an excellent moisturiser. It also contains wheatgerm oil which moisturises, conditions and nourishes the skin and glycerine for moisturisation and hydration.
The packet containing the wipes has a pull open, resealable panel on the top which is where the wipes come out. The wipes are soft and have a lovely lightly floral fragrance. I use mine last thing at night to just remove the general grime of the day. I only wear moisturiser unless I am going anywhere special when I would wear a small amount of makeup. This means that the wipes don't have to work hard to clean my skin. If I was wearing eye makeup I would remove that first with a specialist eye makeup remover and then use one of these wipes to clean the rest of my face.
The feeling on my skin is almost creamy and I have to admit that I would prefer something a little more astringent as it makes my skin feel more cleaned and toned. I have been happy enough to use these wipes but I don't think I would buy them again as I prefer the tea tree and witch hazel ones that I usually use.
I must just say that I found another use for them the other day. I was making a cup of tea and dropped the used tea bag on my light coloured bedroom carpet. When I picked up the tea bag there was a stain on the carpet and the only thing I could grab quickly was one of these wipes and I have to say that it removed the stain completely without leaving a mark on the carpet! Whether the carpet is now moisturised I cannot say! LOL!
In conclusion I would say that these wipes were adequate and may be better for someone with drier skin than mine, but I won't be buying them again.
I got given these wipes as a gift recently. I have very dry skin on my face, and hoped this many help to solve this problem (due to the fact, they claim to moisturise the skin). They are a pretty average buy.
One positive thing about them is... they smell great and they're very soft! This makes them incredibly appealing. After using them once, I did not notice that much of a difference as far as my skin was concerned... however, I was very attracted to their soft texture, and great smell: instantly wanting to use another one!
Unfortunately, these have not made much of a difference to my skin. In fact, my skin appears to be slightly worse... I have more spots than I did before I started using them.
I know that a packet of these is £5:50: quite a lot more expensive than most facial wipes. They're okay. However, they do not produce the results that I would have expected them to result (judging by the price, and what they claim to do).
I bought these wipes recently on a 3 for 2 winter essentials offer at the Body Shop. They are normally priced at £5.50 for 25 wipes. I do like wipes for convenience and I also like products with vitamin E, which is known to be a powerful antioxidant as well as helping moisturise the skin. I generally find vitamin E really does make a positive difference to my skin. The wipes also contain wheat germ oil which helps to moisturise and nourish the skin and glycerine which acts as a softener and improves hydration within the skin.
Like other face wipes, these come in a minimalistic plastic pack which is a pale pink colour (all of the Body Shop vitamin E range is this colour). The information on the pack tells us that the wipes will gently take off make up by cleansing, toning and moisturising all in one. Whilst I use wipes all the time I don't usually use 'all in one' types. I therefore didn't really know what to expect when using them. The wipe itself is actually really fiddly to get out, they tend to stick together meaning it's very easy to pull out more than one wipe. This annoys me as then I either have to use two wipes or try and put the wipe back in the pack and it never goes back in the way it should. Once out the wipe is also a bit of a faff to get open as its folded tightly, its not very thick and feels flimsy. Once the wipe is fully opened there is pleasant fragrance which is floral and sweet smelling. I like my wipes to be really moist and soft, these wipes are soft but they are not particularly moist. They are ok but I would prefer them to be wetter.
Once I have smoothed the wipe over my face, my skin immediately tightens and feels slightly irritated. Not the feeling I am expecting at all. My face can be a bit sensitive but I've never had a problem with vitamin E or Body Shop products before. In fact, I normally find Body Shop products to be the one of the least irritating to my skin. Although the wipe has done an ok job of cleaning my face I do need to apply my usual soothing toner and then a very generous amount of moisturiser to get my skin feeling normal again. I don't know if this is what normally happens with an 'all in one' wipe but I really feel the wipes do not do what they are supposed to. I wanted to give the wipes a fair go and I also didn't want to waste them so I carried on using them until I finished the pack but the same 'irritation' and 'drying' effect occurred each time. I feel the wipes did an ok job of cleansing as they seemed to remove most of my make up, but my face did not feel toned or moisturised after using them. It's a shame as I really like Body Shop products but unfortunately I wouldn't buy these again as they irritated my skin and didn't save me any time at all.
Thanks for reading.
AT £5.50 for 25 wipes, I would never have picked these up if it weren't for a Christmas voucher! I confess to being a bit lazy when it comes to makeup, and even more so when it comes to a cleansing moisturising toning routine. These seemed the perfect solution. One wipe and my skin would be clean, mositurised and toned.
The Vitimin E range is one of the more popular at the Body Shop. The simple pink packaging, the Vitimin E and nice smell all help to make these products work. I first tried one of the wipes before bed the first evening I had them. I found them to be plenty moist, I would compare them to the Pampers baby wipes I use for my children! The wipe had no problems removing the powder, eye shadow and under-eye makeup that I wear. I felt the familiar stinging sensation from having used a toner, and my skin felt nice and fresh.
I admit I don't use these twice a day as suggested, but tend to save them for the evenings. And when my gift card runs out I won't be buying more as it's way to pricey for me, but I have found these to be effective and pleasant to use on my skin and if they happened to drop drastically in price then I might use them more often!
If you've ever been in The Body Shop for skin care, you'll probably have seen this range. Pink minimal packaging, there's always hype around this range.
Coming from a massive range and with most skin care ranges having wipes, it seems only natural for the Vitamin E range to have a pack of wipes included too.
I've always been a big fan of the Vitamin E range. It's for normal skin and i find it very light and easily absorbed so thought these wipes would be perfect for keeping in my gym bag. No point in ruining all the good work put into a skin care routine if my face is going to get covered in sweat. Seemed a good soution to keep these with me.
It's a very handy packet. The wipes claim to cleanse and tone while removing all makeup. If I'm honest, I'm a bit lazy too, I never have time for a toner, this sounded easy! Before trying these wipes, I had been using The Body Shop's 2 in 1 cleanser and toner from the Vitamin E range and my skin always felt smooth and fresh.
Saw these wipes on a three for two offer and picked up a pack. The wipes smell lovely, just like the rest of the range as they contain Rosehip oil as well as the Vitamin E.
For around £5.50, there's 25 wipes in a pack so it's by no means the cheapest on the market but at The Body Shop, you know you're paying for products not tested on animals and community traded ingredients.
When I first tried these wipes, I felt the first wipe was awfully dry on my fingers. It felt worse on my face so I discarded the first wipe, thinking it was a one off. Except the second wipe was just the same as was the rest of the packet.
I didn't feel they were very moisturing at all, if anything they felt dry. I don't wear a lot of makeup but even after wiping, my skin felt unclean. Wiping my makeup off felt like I was having to drag these wipes across my face. When I got home and used my cleanser with cotton wool, the pads were covered in makeup which the wipes obviously hadn't removed.
I've never had senstive skin or had a problem with any range I've tried but my skin felt a little raw afterwards and i needed to use a moisturiser.
I'm a massive fan of The Body Shop but these were a huge let down. At £5.50 I wasn't expecting miracles but I at least expect the wipes to feel slightly moist. My skin certainly didn't feel cleansed, toned or moisturised.
I'm sorry to say that I'd think twice about buying any wipes from any of The Body Shop ranges again.

~ Why Vitamin E Gentle Facial Cleansing Wipes ~
After having been using the Vitamin E Hydrating Toner and been happy with it, I decided to try another product from the Vitamin E range. The reason I decided to buy the Vitamin E Gentle Facial Wipes is that I can use it as a makeup remover or cleanser without the need to have cotton pads and a bottle of cleanser at hand and also save on having to use a second bottle, the toner afterwards with a second cotton pad. An ideal thing when you travel or get home late and just want to get to bed as soon as possible and save a lot of hassle.
~ Packaging ~
As most of these cosmetic or cleansing wipes these also come in a simple plastic pack that have hole to lift the wipe out and peel the security seal back so the wipes don't dry out. The Vitamin E Wipes have the same pale pink colour as of the entire Vitamin E range from The Body Shop.
~ What it claims it does ~
This is what appears on the front of the packaging: "One-step cleansing and toning to remove makeup, impurities and dull skin cells. (...)"
On the back it says: "(...) wipes that cleanse, tone, and moisturise and protect skin with antioxidant vitamin E.
~ Appearance and application ~
The wipes have a slightly soapy, oily smell, but it appears to be oil free. The cotton wipes are soft and wet, not quite wet though, so when I opened the packet I started wondering if one will be enough to do the whole cleansing - toning job. The wipes can be used twice a day as part of your cleansing - toning routine or to wipe off makeup at the end of the day.
~ Results ~
- What it (more or less) does
- Cleansing (3 out of 5)
The wipe has managed to remove impurities from the day as the wipes got lightly tainted. The result wasn't great though and my skin didn't feel too cleansed or refreshed.
- What it doesn't do
I now have normal skin most of the time after having been using hypo-allergenic products for the past 1.5 years and I haven't suffered from skin irritation from any of the products I'm currently using. Until that is, I used these wipes.
One minute after the application, the skin on my face went tingly first then it started rubbing. It also reddened slightly finally became stingy. I put some water on then patting it dry with a towel, which left my skin better but my hair and neck was still itchy a good hour afterwards.
- Remove makeup (2 out of 5)
I never wear heavy makeup or black mascara just the minimum really. On one occasion during my holidays I had light makeup on, non-waterproof pink mascara and light pink non-waterproof eye shadow. I used one wipe and started to remove the eye shadow. It came off reasonably well but then it really struggled with removing the non-waterproof mascara which is supposed to be easier to get rid of than waterproof ones. What it did was smear it all over under my eye area instead of picking it up on the wipe.
- Tone (1 out of 5)
Well, if the cleanser doesn't work, there was even less chance the toner would. The purpose of the toner is to remove any excess makeup, impurities and prepare skin for moisturising by adding moisture back to the skin, so any dry areas do not get direct exposure to richer, thicker daily creams you apply after toning.
The toner I use is Vitamin E Hydrating Toner and the reason I'm so happy with that product, is that it also removes my makeup from scratch without using a cleanser. It also hydrates and is of course gentle to skin, so no irritations with that one.
The Vitamin E Wipes however just didn't work as a toner, because they irritated the skin and I actually had to go out and buy a toner to do the hydration before applying any creams.
- Moisturise (2 out of 5)
While using the product, I felt it moisturise my skin to some degree, but when it dry on my skin, it didn't feel moisturising at all any more, in fact, it felt itchy and stung too. I had to rinse the sticky product. When irritation occurs, the result is always dry skin, because on of the major symptoms of sensitised skin is dryness.
~ How long does it last? ~
Using it twice daily, the 25 wipes will not last more than 2 weeks which works out quite expensive. You can use half the wipes which will remove daily impurities or refresh skin in the morning but will not be enough to cleanse - tone - remove makeup in one go, you'll need a full wipe for that. As I said, to fully remove makeup, it will not do the job whatsoever.
~ Conclusion ~
I saved the wipes up for travelling so when I first tried them I was already on holiday and it came as a disappointment that it didn't do any of the cleansing - toning - makeup removing properly it was supposed to do. Because I was on holiday, I had to replace it with something quickly from limited choices and places to buy it from which further added to my bad experience.
I've always found the wipes overprized but for convenience and the promised 'one-step' triple action convinced me to give it a try. I absolutely hate this product and had to chuck it in the bin after only too uses because the irritation re-occured. If you have fragile, delicate or sensitive skin, this is an absolute no-no. I now have normal - combination skin so there must be an ingredient in either the wipe or in the fluid that I'm definitely allergic to.
It still puzzles me how the this product can be so poor and different from the Vitamin E Hydrating Toner which is an excellent product.
