Advantages: It works - definitely helps with the condition of my skin
Disadvantages: Price in comparison to some other brands? But a little goes a long way so isn't too much of an issue
I am a fan of the Body Shop - both it's products and it's ethics. I also find the pricing of the products to be reasonable - always an added bonus. Granted, body Shop products aren't the cheapest, but they work, unlike some cheaper brands and, in my opinion, just as good as some as the higher end brands.
*Using the Product*
This particular toner has become part of my daily skin routine. I use it in the evenings after cleansing (I also use a Body Shop cleanser, review to come later). I tend to use two cotton wool balls each night. I apply some toner to the first, and gently wipe my face over. This removes any last traces of cleanser/make up that may be still on my face. I then repeat with the second cotton wool ball to ensure there are no traces left on my skin - the second cotton ball is nearly always clean once I'm done. You don't need too much of the product per cotton ball, which means that one bottle of this can last a very long time. The toner does have a nice soft fragrance to it, almost a little like a sweet baby fragrance. The fragrance is only subtle and is in no way overpowering.
*Effects*
I normally use the toner in combination with other products, but when I am done with my routine I am left with soft smooth skin. I especially notice the difference in the drier parts of my face. To test out the full effects of the toner I tried using just the toner for about a week. The toner alone removed make-up, including mascara (without irritating my eyes) - though granted I needed 3 or 4 cotton wool balls so more than the 2 I would normally use. It also still left my skin feeling soft and smooth in comparison to what it feels like without using the toner.
*Pricing and Packaging*
The Body Shop does this toner in two bottle sizes - 60ml and the standard 200ml. The 60ml is currently retailing at £3, and the larger 200ml is retailing at £7 - making it the better value of the two. A little more expensive than other brands, but a little goes a long way and the product works, so worth it in my opinion.
The bottle is pretty much as shown on the picture. A basic bottle (though wouldn't look out of place in any bathroom) in a pale pink colour with a flip lid. The lid is easy enough to flip open - isn't stiff - but also doesn't open if you accidently drop the bottle - so no spillages!
*My Recommendations*
I would recommend this product, especially if you have parts of your skin that are a little drier than others. I have slightly dry patches on my cheeks, which get worse for example if the weather is windy. This toner has definitely helped. After my little 'tests' I have found that it does have a positive effect on my skin, and as a little goes a long way £7 isn't too much to pay for something that works.
Summary: A great toner that is gentle and helps with the condition of my skin
