The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Cream
Advantages: Contains vitamins and leaves your skin feeling really soft
Disadvantages: I don't think it's suitable for my oily skin type
The Vitamin E Moisture Cream by the Body Shop is a moisturising product for the face. The lid states that it is suitable for all skin types and it is designed to hydrate the skin while protecting it from the external elements at the same time. The Body Shop promises that it will leave your skin feeling soft, smooth and nourished. This moisturiser is The Body Shops best selling product of its type.
How does it work?
As is evident from the name, the special ingredient in the product is obviously Vitamin E. This vitamin is an antioxidant which means that it will remove skin aging toxins and prevent premature aging. It also helps to regulate the skins production of oil so the complexion should be less shiny and it allows the skin to hold onto moisture more readily by strengthening it.
How do you use it?
The product is to be used in the same way as any other facial moisturiser. It should be applied to skin that has been cleansed and dried. You scoop a small amount from the pot and smooth it onto the skin on the face and neck, and then massage the moisturiser into the face until it has been fully absorbed. You can then apply your make up in the normal way. You could also use it in the night time although there is a special night time Vitamin E cream available for this purpose.
Packaging and Price
The product comes in a circular plastic pot which has a screw top lid. This packaging means that it is easy to access the product and you will be able to use every last drop. The product will cost around £9 for 50ml of the cream although smaller pots are available. I've got a little mini 15ml one which is handy for carrying around when you're out and about. The product can be bought from The Body Shop or from its online website.
The product has a fresh scent that is quite refreshing. It's not my favourite aroma, but I don't mind it in a face cream and it smells to me a little like a mix between Chamomile lotion and the old Nivea cream that comes in a blue pot. The lotion has a very pale pink colour to it and its consistency is a little thicker than some face creams that I've used.
As you massage the cream into the skin, it goes a little watery and the consistency seems to break down a bit. It is very quickly absorbed by the skin and not much massaging is needed at all. You need a lot less of this product per use than you will originally think that you do because a little definitely goes a long way.
The product leaves a very healthy sheen on the skin and gives it a certain radiance. I do really like it but as my skin is oily, the lovely sheen quite quickly turns into a greasy complexion which is a shame. It doesn't irritate my skin or make it feel uncomfortable but it has caused a few blemishes although I should point out that my skin is prone to spots.
My favourite thing about this cream is how soft it leaves your skin feeling. I don't think I've ever used a product which makes your skin feel as silky as this one does from the very first use. It keeps your skin incredibly moisturised and you won't get any dryness from using this. It is lovely.
My only niggle with this product is that it is supposed to be suitable for all skin types but I don't think it works on my oily skin. It makes me too shiny and it did cause a few spots. That being said, it makes your skin look incredibly healthy and feel so soft that I would say for any other skin type, it is well worth buying. Mine's been passed onto my mother now who is really enjoying using it and I must say, she's looking beautiful!
If you find that you like this product, then there are plenty of other products available in this range including a more intense moisturiser, an illuminating moisturiser, hand cream, neck cream, lip care, an exfoliator, a toner and a tinted moisturiser amongst others.
