This face mask is one of those tubes which has sat around my dressing table, well in a bag, for a while. I’m now trying to go through the things in the bag and on the dressing table as opposed to buying more.
About 2 years ago I went through a stage of buying a lot of Body Shop products as I was a member of their loyalty club, and this mask was one of the things I bought. Face masks are something I like to have, and use at least once a month, more if I remember and have time. Face masks help to clean out the impurities in your skin, and to generally improve the skin’s condition.
This warming mineral face mask promises to self warm, deep clean and is a kaolin clay treatment. It also contains cinnamon and ginger oils and algae, all of which are designed to purify, invigorate and cleanse your skin. This currently retails at £10, and I think I paid around the same price.
This comes in a plastic squeezy tube, which stands on it’s lid. It’s quite an attractive tube, in grey and beige colours (not the green as pictured), and contains instructions and information about it. It’s quite a heavy tube, which you might expect for something containing clay. The tube itself is very flexible, meaning it is easy to squeeze, which is a good thing.
This says to use on clean wet skin, and to leave it on for about 5 minutes. I typically use it in the shower, so I only leave it on for around 3 minutes.
In the shower this always feels wet on my face, but I still find it does a good job, and is easy to wash of.
For this review I’ve just put some on, having first cleaned my face. I’m sat on my sofa.
First impressions are this goes on a lot easier in the shower, when my face is very wet. It is also very hard to get out of the tube, and I find this each time I use it, not because it’s dry from being sat around, the clay is just too dense for the hole it comes out of. In the shower when my face is very wet this slides on easily, but out of it I found it a bit sticky and thick to apply, although it covered my face well.
This does have a pretty instant and noticeable warming feel. It also quickly starts to dry, although it doesn’t dry rock hard like some face masks. Even after a few minutes it is still flexible enough that you can smile without feeeling like your face is going to crack up.
It has a slight smell, which to me is slightly sweet but I can also get a subtle smell of clay. The warming sensation continues throughout using this, it’s just slight and I find it quite pleasant now I’m used to it.
I found this quite hard to wash of at my sink, and I had to grab a spare flannel to scrub it of my face. This isn’t a problem I usually have in the shower
My face is left feeling soft, if well scrubbed. I can still slightly smell a lingering smell of it on my face.
I think this is an ok face mask. In the month I’ve been using it it has left my face feeling clean, and soft. My skin isn’t particularly sensitive, but is prone to be oily with spots. This has slightly helped, and I’ve always found it gentle on my skin.
I don’t think I’d buy this again, not because there is anything wrong with it. I just don’t feel that it is special enough compared to other masks of a similar price, plus if it’s this hard to get out of the tube when half full, I can only imagine how hard it will be when nearly empty. I also think I prefer the more fruit based face masks.
That said if you like warming clay masks, you should give this one a try.
Also on Ciao
Wow, this was such a relaxing and difference experience from a clay mask that warms up, what was not so wow was the results for sensitive or spot prone skin.
If it hadn't off aggravated my skin I would happily use this every week because it is brilliant otherwise.
I brought this product on the basis that it helped oily skin and was looking for a nice relaxing treatment instead of constantly having to find a product to cleanse and tone all the time. I love face masks but unlike my friends I have to be careful what ones I use.
I have been a customer a long time at 'The Body Shop' and have a lot of confidence in their products and especially their ethical outlook.
They recommend you cleanse and tone before using this mask, but it's not always needed to.
Apply a generous layer to your skin and my giddy aunt you can just feel the gentle sensation of the mask heating up and it is so relaxing. Allow this for five minutes and then wash off which is a little messy because after five minutes the mask appeared like clay and had to be wiped off giving more time to this than the actual process however it is worth it as the feeling is like a layer of the day's troubles coming away.
My skin initially looked cleansed and revitalized and I was happy with the outcome even better was that there were no reactions, no inflammation of the skin however I did notice in the morning a few blemishes I didn't have before. I understand this is to cleanse your skin but after a few weeks of trying this it was getting worse, once I stopped and just use Aloe Vera it then calmed down.
Other than that, is your skin is not spot prone I would really recommend this product.
I have always been a fan of The Body Shop although I have found that the older I get, the less I tend to treat myself. I was shopping last weekend when I came across a product that caught my attention - the warming mineral mask!
The warming mineral mask comes in a plastic tube with a clear flip top lid. The tube is a pale grey colour with a darker green section which contains the writing. The writing reads "The Body Shop" "Warming Mineral mask" suitable for all skin types. Also written on the tube is "'with Kaolin clay to deep cleanse and a thermal complex to warm the skin. No added colour or fragrance. The plastic tube is flexible so the mask can be squeezed out easily and the lid can be removed to ensure you can squeeze out the last traces of the mask. The product is about 5 inches size, and 100ml in size.
As already mentioned, I bought this product last weekend and it cost me £7.30 which to be honest, is a little more than I would have liked to have spent but if I spent over £12 I got another item free so I decided to take the plunge, having already decided to buy a £5 item!
According to the packaging: This self-warming mineral mask combines Kaolin clay and essential oils to draw out impurities and deep cleanse the skin. Zinc oxide soothes and protects whilst glycerine helps soften and prevent moisture loss. This product also contains algae, Vitamin E and extracts of cinnamon, ginger and zedoary.
Applying The Mask
The mask itself is a grey/light green colour and has a fairly thick. Almost tacky consistency. To be honest, the mask doesn't really have much of a scent, if I had to place the smell, I would say it smells similar to clay and also smell slightly of some type of essential oil. Although the scent is faint, it is still pleasant. There are instructions for applying the mask on the back of the tube and it's all pretty straight forward to be honest. One thing you need to remember is that warming masks are activated by water so you need to apply the mask to a cleansed, wet face.
To apply the mask, you simply squeeze some of the mask onto your fingers and apply it to your damp face, s
spreading evenly, and being careful to avoid your eyes and lips. Due to the thick consistency of the mask, you do need to squeeze with a firm hand to actually get the product out of the tube.
As you apply to mask, you can feel the warming sensation spread across your face. It is such a pleasant sensation, and although it does seem to become quite warm, it does not reach a temperature that is uncomfortable. The warming sensation only lasts as long as you are spreading the mask across your face. Once the movement of the mask stops, so does the warming sensation.
I tend to leave the mask on for 5 - 10 minutes. Oddly enough, the mask doesn't appear to 'set' it just remains the same consistency which means rinsing the mask of is very easy. Personally, I wet a flannel and ran it across my face a few times and then washed the flannel out in the sink - simple.
I was really impressed with the results I got from the product. Quite often when I use face masks, my skin is left feeling tight and I end up wishing I hadn't bothered using the product. This product left my skin feeling exceptionally soft, to the point where it actually felt really soft to touch as well. It looks really healthy and hydrated and certainly gave me a 'glow'. I have smile lines round my mouth and this mask also seems to make them fad somehow.
I would highly recommend this mask. Although I initially thought that £7 was expensive, I can see that this one tube will last me a number of months because you only need to use the smallest amount and I will only be using it once or twice a week as recommended. The results from this mask are absolutely amazing, I'm certainly hooked. Another great thing about this product is that it is not tested on animals, big thumbs up from me!
For as long as I can possibly remember I have set aside an hour every Sunday where I will enjoy a much needed pampering session in the comfort of my home. Each of my pampering sessions consists of a face mask and whilst I generally tend to purchase those from Montagne Jeunesse, my eyes were recently drawn to The Body Shop's Warming Mineral Mask, which is suitable for all skin types and this review discussing my experience with using.
I'm a huge fan of warming masks, as they offer a wonderfully soothing and comforting sensation especially during the cold winter months. The mineral mask is suitable for all skin types and we are provided with 100ml, which is contained within a sturdy plastic tube that neatly sits on a flip top lid. I would describe my skin as T-zone, as I suffer with oily areas on my forehead and nose with dry patches on my cheeks and whilst I rarely suffer with spots, I have a few large pores situated beneath my nose, which are prone to clogging and can often develop into blackheads.
During my teens I suffered with spots and as my skin was oily, I made the unfortunate mistake of excessively cleansing, as I believed that if I dried it out the spots would disappear. However, my actions caused the exact opposite, as my skin naturally produced more oil to make up for what I had stripped away. Consequently, I am now very careful when choosing new products and will only buy those suitable for my skin type. The lid is easily flipped open to enable me to dispense the creamy white mask with its initial consistency resembling that of a fairly thick body lotion.
As directed, I apply a generous layer to my cleansed and wet skin and as soon as the mask makes contact I am able to witness the delightful warming effect. It is easily spread over my wet skin, which causes its texture to become a little thinner although this does not affect the application process. It was only when I initially used the mask that I was aware of its kaolin clay content; an ingredient which I find very favourable, particularly when my skin is feeling a little drier than usual. I had been looking forward to witnessing the aroma, which I had anticipated to be quite powerful as well as festive, particularly due to its inclusion of ginger and cinnamon essential oils. However, I must admit that I was a little disappointed, as I was barely able to recognise either fragrance as all that was evident was a very slight spiciness.
Whilst the mask is wonderfully warming on my skin during the application process, this sensation is short lived, which is rather disappointing although I must admit that I have achieved very similar results from other brands that I've used. Unfortunately, the mask should remain on the skin for only five minutes, which isn't long enough for me, as it doesn't give me enough time to chill out and relax, but as directed I remove it with some warm water. This is an easy and quick process similar to that with removing a cleansing cream, particularly as the mask hasn't been on my face for very long and has therefore, not begun to dry.
Despite the face mask being on my skin for such a short period of time, I must admit that I am quite impressed with the results, as the warming effect, albeit temporary, opens my pores enabling the mask ingredients to deeply penetrate and work their magic. The clay delivers its effective softening, smoothing and moisturising properties and this is clearly evident each time I use the product, as the surface of my skin always feels velvety soft to the touch as well as being sufficiently hydrated. Furthermore, I discovered that the oils of both the ginger and cinnamon are intended to invigorate the skin and due to the warming effect of the clay causing the pores to temporarily open, I feel assured that both ingredients have played their part in deep cleansing and invigorating my skin as well as removing any excess oils. In addition, the appearance of my skin is brighter and more radiant, which is always a good thing for me, particularly as I am always so pale.
I favour the fact that the pores are temporarily opened, particularly as many of my pampering sessions will initially begin with me steaming my face over a bowl of boiling water before I apply my beauty products. As a result, my cleansing products and face masks can reach deep down into the pores and subsequently, remove any dirt and grime. However, I will always complete my pamper session with a toner in order to close the pores. Whilst the aroma of the ginger and cinnamon are barely evident when I apply the mask, I love the fact that I am able to witness a delicate cinnamon aroma nestling on the surface of my skin following its removal.
It is recommended that the mask be used either once or twice a week and due to the length of time it remains on the skin I am able to apply it whilst having my mid-week bath as well as during my Sunday pampering session. Despite having used the 100ml tube for well over a month on a twice weekly basis and The Body Shop advising to apply a good layer, I have a fair amount remaining, so anticipate that the remainder will offer at least twenty applications in total.
With the exception of the poor level of fragrance, I am extremely pleased with The Body Shop Warming Mineral Mask and will be making a further purchase as soon as I am in receipt of an online discount code, particularly as the tube retails at £10. However, I don't suppose this is too bad when you consider the fact that you can obtain approximately twenty applications. I feel a four star rating to be appropriate and if The Body Shop were to improve the strength of fragrance I would have no hesitation in upgrading my rating to a full five stars.
The Packaging is simple and elegant. The tube is of a pale greenish grey colour which is the same as the actual product and the tube is designed to be stood on its lid which I like because I feel like less product will be wasted. The text on the front is straight forward and practical telling us the product is a self warming, deep cleansing kaolin clay treatment" for all skin types. On the back in small quite hard to read writing we discover the product contains; ginger, cinnamon, algae and essential oils and there is also instructions for how to use the product.
The actual face mask is very thick and you have to squeeze the tube quite hard to get it out of the bottle which is definitely better than the product being too runny. The product is the same colour as the tube and has a slight shine to it and has a lovely smooth consistency.
...My Experience Using this Product...
When you first apply the product you immediately notice the warming sensation which is very nice indeed and you also feel like your really treating your skin to something luxurious. Although the warming sensation doesn't last very long in fact I'd say it lasts less than a minute which is a little disappointing. The instructions recommend you apply a thick layer which really you have to do because the product doesn't spread very far or very easily. I've used this product several times and have never found it to make my skin feel tight or for the mask to crack like other clay face masks do and you can almost forget your wearing it.
The product does have a very subtle spicy sent which I'm pretty sure is the cinnamon. You apply the product to clean wet skin and I assume its the moisture on your skin which causes the warming sensation and you are recommended to leave the product on for 5 minutes before rinsing off well I've used this product several times and have found no adverse effects of leaving it on for longer than 5 minutes. I usually use this product when relaxing in the bath and wash it off after maybe 15 or 20 minutes with no problem.
The product is easy to remove with clean warm water and doesn't sting or irritate the eyes if it comes into contact with them. Even when washing the product off my skin I could already feel the difference it had made to my skin. My skin was left feeling soft and I felt like it had had a really deep clean. My skin also felt firmer and I spent the rest of the day not needing to apply and kind of foundation as my skin had gained a nice even colour which it sometime lacks and it generally looked brighter and more radiant than it had in a long time.
...Value For Money...
The product can only be purchased for The Body Shop and is usually priced at £9 for a 100ml tube however I brought this product when I had a voucher for £10 off when you spend more than £25. Although £9 a tube is expensive I probably will purchase this product as it is a real delight to use and I think the tube is going to last me a long long time especially as it's a product that isn't designed for every day use but perhaps weekly use. I hadn't found a face mask that I'd enjoyed using and had been easy to remove with long lasting visible effects but now that I have regardless of the price it will always be in my bathroom cupboard.
I exchanged my annual Body Shop Christmas gift (ungrateful aren't I?) loofah and flannel for something useful- a face mask!
I decided on their Warming mineral mask for it's 'deep cleansing' properties, and at £9 for 100ml (at the time of writing on the Body Shop website) it happened to be the same price as my return items. The Body Shop is famed for it's animal and human ethics and also for using natural ingredients so therefore I don't mind the prices which can be more than similar products.
The mask comes in a grey tube, there's no clear plastic so you can't see how much is left in it. It has the usual Body Shop logo in dark green and the label tells us it's a 'Warming mineral mask' that it's self warming, deep cleansing and is a kaolin clay treatment- all written in dark green. The tube itself is made from quality soft plastic making the contents easy to squeeze out. On the back there's information about what it does ie 'Warming to open pores, ginger and cinnamon oils to invigorate and algae to purify and condition and is suitable for all skin types'. The list of ingredients is under the label. The lid is clear plastic with a sturdy flip top and is wide enough for standing.
The mask is slightly cream coloured with a light herbal scent- not unpleasant but rather nice and not strong smelling. The consistency is very thick and very creamy- it's almost greasy feeling. It doesn't feel chalky or gritty in any way.
The instructions tell us to 'Apply a generous layer to clean wet skin, leave for 5 mins and rinse'. I apply a thickish layer- you don't need much this tube has lasted me a couple of months using once a week. My face goes immediately warm but unfortunately it cools down pretty quick. It doesn't dry hard, it stays the same this makes it easy to wash off. It rinses away quick enough but I do find using a flannel beneficial.
My face feels really clean, I don't know about opening and cleaning my pores though- they look the same to me but my complexion is definitely brighter. It doesn't dry out my skin but leaves it smooth and soft. There's no irritation and it doesn't give me spots.
The heat element of it is very relaxing and I often put it on in the bath.
I adore Body Shop products and a firm favourite of mine is their Warming Mineral Mask. This costs me £7.50 per 100ml tube. I first stumbled across this as it was a sample-sized tube in a gift pack I received free about one year ago. I tried it for the first time and I simply loved it and knew I would have to go back to the store to buy a regular sized tube.
This mask is fantastic because it does everything. By that, I mean it boosts my circulation, it deeps cleans my pores,, it takes out the impurities from my skin and it makes my complexion glow. It is a fantastic mask to use once every now and again if your skin is looking bit drab and in need of a pick me up. It's fast acting, easy to use and certainly improves the appearance of my skin.
As this is a warming mask, you have to apply it slightly differently to the way in which you would apply a 'normal' face mask. I simply remove all traces of make up from my face by gently cleansing and toning beforehand. I then gently dampen my face and neck with a clean facecloth before I apply the mask. As this is a heat releasing mask, it is vital that you first dampen the skin beforehand, otherwise the mask won't be as effective.
This cream contains a substance called Zeolite, which has the ability to create heat on your face when used with water. I simply apply a thin layer of cream all over my face and neck, taking care to avoid the delicate eye area and the lips. I have to say, as soon as I apply a tiny bit of this mask, I can immediately feel a tingling and warming sensation on my skin as it begins to work. This is not unpleasant by any means, but it is certainly a strange sensation if you haven't used a warming mask before. I have used the Olay warming mask several times before so I knew what to expect.
I allow the mask to do its work by lying on the couch and relaxing for approximately five minutes or so. The first time I used this product I felt my eyes smart ever so slightly. I have no idea why this should have happened, as I hadn't placed the cream anywhere near to my eyes, but I'm happy to report this didn't occur on subsequent applications.
After approximately five minutes have elapsed, I simply remove al traces of the mask by carefully and gently wiping my skin with a clean damp cloth. The result is a fresher looking and a healthier glowing complexion. I finish off with a light coat of moisturiser.
This is a gorgeous mask and is suitable for most skins and as it's from the Body Shop, it's not been tested on animals and contains no harmful substances. I adore this facemask and have used several tubes and constantly recommend it to friends and family.
Try it - I am sure you will love it.
This product intregued me so much and I was very happy to try it out when I got it free with my Body Shop order.
The paste itself is clay and is quite thick and white. It feels very smooth and is easy to apply. You are supposed to apply it to a cleansed, wet face in order for it to warm up properly. I did find it odd as it didn't particularly dry onto my face, but it was lovely to use. You feel it working the minute you put it on your face, and the warming sensation is quite pleasant. I think it will be nice to use when you need warming in the winter.
I didn't find that this product made much of a difference to the way my skin felt or looked. It did deep clean and was pleasant to use, but I think it just wasn't for my skin type. I have oily skin but i've heard this is brilliant for sensitive skin. I did feel like it was gentle and wouldn't flare up my very red skin tone.
The packaging feels very high quality, much like most of The Body Shop products. It has a flip top lid which does get messy quite quickly.
Would I buy this again? No, but simply because I feel I could find one to suit my skin type. I think it would be a lovely product to use if you had normal or sensitive skin and has certainly encouraged me to look into other face masks from The Body Shop.
At £7.50 for 100ml you would think that you will be priced out of this mineral mask but you would be wrong. The body shop site is somewhat conflicting on the use of this product with one tab suggesting that you apply the product with "just enough to cover the skin" whilst another tab states that you should apply "a generous layer", either one is fine but I personally like to apply a considerate layer to my skin as I like the way that the clay feels against my face.
The mask is applied to a cleansed, wet face and warms up on contact with the skin. You should never use this product on the sensitive areas of the face, the ingredients are ginger, cinnamon oil and kaolin clay, the ginger and cinnamon oil providing the warmth (alongside the main warming ingredient Zeolite) and the glorious scent (which may be a little strong for some) whilst the minerals in the clay act as a deep cleanser which also draws out impurities from the skin.
Suitable for all skin types and when used as an occasional treat, rather than 1-2 days a week as suggested, the mask does last a very long time and my skin always feels smoother and softer after using it. The warming effect leaves me feeling relaxed and is perfect to use when having a long soak in the tub.
I love face masks and was immediately drawn to this product when I saw the word 'warming'. I had visions of some warming treatment similar to that of a spa treatment.
What is the 'warming mineral mask'?
This is a face mask that magically warms itself when it comes in contact with your damp skin. It deep cleanses your pores leaving you feeling fresh and clean. Your skin will appear smooth, soft and revitalised.
It costs £7.50 for a 100ml tube. You can get 10% off with a Love your body card (see my review on it for full details). It comes in a plastic bottle which can be recycled by returning to a body shop store.
What does it contain?
Kaolin clay is the main ingredient which deep cleanses all skin types, drawing out impurities from the skin. It is a natural mineral that helps to revitalise and cleanse, whilst restoring the skin's natural balance. It also has feel-good ginger and cinnamon oil which keeps a nice but not over powering scent.
Seaweed extract - Is renowned for its conditioning and hydrating benefits, whilst its non-oily nature makes it particularly suitable for normal to oily skin. Is said to present nature's most complete and balanced source of proteins, carbohydrates, mineral and vitamins.
Zeolite - Releases heat on contact with water, providing the warming sensation on the skin that helps draw out impurities.
How to use
Cleanse your face first and leave damp. Squeeze some of the mask and apply directing to your face covering with a thin layer of the product. Leave for 5-10 mins then wash off. Be careful not to apply to eye or lip area.
I love this product. I love how it warms on contact with my damp skin and leaves a warm tingly sensation. I have normal skin and found this amazing. It was not sore at all. It is easy to apply and a small blob goes a long long way so one bottle lasts a long time. Afterwards my skin felt smooth and very very clean. I would recommend to anyone.
This was given to me as a gift by a friend who swears by it, we both have sensitive skin and she said it was fantastic, so I was quite excited about trying it out.
This product comes in a tube and it's a thick clay paste that is a white colour, a little seems to go a long way and you don't need much to get an even coverage on your face.
If have to remove any makeup before you use this product, so I cleanse as normal. When you apply it your face heats up and you can feel it working almost instantly. I didn't find the process particularly relaxing, but I did feel that the product was giving my skin a deep cleanse.
Personally I haven't found a deep cleansing clay mask that works so well on sensitive skin.
The mask contains three key ingredients: kaolin clay, seaweed extract and zeolite.
Kaolin clay deeply cleanses your skin and draws out impurities. It is a mineral that helps to revitalise and cleanse, whilst restoring the skin's natural balance. I'd certainly agree that this was correct.
Seaweed extract is supposedly renowned for its conditioning and hydrating benefits, whilst its non-oily nature makes it suitable for normal to oily skin. Personally I'd be inclined to disagree with this, I find that after I've used this product my face feels drained of moisture, it certainly doesn't feel hydrated.
Zeolite releases heat on contact with water, providing the warming sensation on the skin that helps draw out impurities. This is certainly true, the product warms up on your skin.
When you remove it after five to ten minutes you can really feel the difference. The mask costs around £7.50 for a 100ml tube and I would definitely use this product again. I think it is good value for money and great for the occasional deep cleanse. However I wouldn't use it more frequently than every now and again, because I'd be worried that the product would drain my skin of essential hydration.
I looked in the mirror this morning and thought - "Oh my God, my skin looks terrible!" - so I reached for this. Some of you may think 7.30am is an odd time to use a face mask (in fact, my kids did give me odd looks!) but this never fails to give my skin a lovely glow and more people will notice that through the day than if I'd done it in the evening. So here I am, sitting here looking like a ghoul and writing this review...
The Body Shop Warming Mineral Mask
This face mask contains Kaolin Clay to deeply cleanse the skin and ginger and cinnamon which boost circulation and give you that lovely glow. It is designed as a once a week deep cleansing treatment for your face and is a perfect way to pamper yourself. Ths mask costs around £7.50 for a 100ml tube.
How it works
The mask is a cream which contains Zeolite, a substance that releases heat when it comes in contact with water. This warming feeling is not only pleasant but helps draw out the impurities from your skin by opening your pores.
How to use
Remove any make up and cleanse as normal (don't use toner though) then wet your face either with water or a facial spray (I use the Body Shop Vitamin E Face Mist, just becuase I have it - but water is fine). This is important, don't apply this to dry skin as the heating effect won't work very well and it will be hard to apply.
Smooth a little of the cream mask over your wet skin (you don't need to use a lot, it goes a long way and the heating effect still works with a thin layer so don't feel you have to plaster it on), avoiding your lips, eyes and not getting it up your nose!
You will feel the heating effect instantly, as soon as the mask makes contact with wet skin - don't be alarmed (though it's a funny trick to play on your boyfriend if you can persuade him to use it!), the heat goes quite quickly.
Go and relax for 5 minutes while the mask gets to work.
After 5 minutes remove the face mask with a damp flannel or cotton wool and then rinse thoroughly with water. The mask doesn't dry on your skin so it is quite easy to remove. You may feel the heating action work slightly as you remove the mask because you have put water on it.
Then follow this with a good moisturiser and... Ta-Da! Lovely clean skin with a nice healthy glow.
Although I got this product for free it is one of the few Body shop products I have that I will be replacing when it runs out. I feel it really is worth the £7.50 as it will last ages. I love the warming feeling and my skin always looks really healthy for days after using this. Whenever I feel my skin is looking dull or I'm just in need of a little pampering, this is the first thing I reach for. Absolutely love it!
NB - This may not be suitable for sensitive skin.
A few years ago I was roped into going to a Body Shop party. I was determined not to buy anything, but when this product came out and we were encouraged to try a bit on the back of our hand, I was hooked.
I quite happily gave up the £7+ for a little 100ml tube of clay (with other nice smelling things in it of course) simply because of the lovely warm feeling it gave when I put some on my hand. I couldn't wait to get my order and have it at home to try on my face. Just the thought of it promised relaxation and deep cleaning (which is what is promised)
I think it helped that it was winter and freezing outside, as the warmth was the key draw!
I continue to use this mask even now. I was not disappointed on that first use, as after washing my face and applying the mask to my face, I was met with the most relaxing warm (very warm!) feeling, and I was so sad when it ended. Tempting as it was to add more to get it back again, I wasn't willing to waste any! The mask doesn't harden like some face masks, but stays wet so it's easy to remove. The warm feeling lasts less than a minute, but is worth it.
Does it deep clean my face? I'm not sure. My skin isn't great and I can't say it's helped to improve it, but I use it more for the relaxation side of it than anything else. When you have 2 young children, every little bit helps!
I bought this face mask at a Body shop party I went to recently, as I had never tried it before and love testing out their products. It claims to deep cleanse your face and contains ginger, cinnamon and kaolin clay, and is suitable for all skin types which was good to know due to my sensitive skin.
The tube is a light greeny grey in colour and contains 100ml of face mask for £7.30, Body shop recommend you use this once or twice a week but at this price I'd say it's not something you would want to use often, I use mine just every couple of weeks or when my face is feeling especially in need of a cleansing therapy session!
The first time I used this I was quite excited, you cleanse your face first then leave it wet, and smooth a generous layer onto your skin using your fingers, avoiding the eyes and lips. It feels very oily as you are squeezing it out of the tube.
I could feel it instantly warming my face up as I was applying it, it does get quite hot! For this reason it feels like your pores are getting a good deep clean!
After 5 minutes you rinse it off (it stays wet and oily, it isn't meant to dry on) then continue with your normal skincare routine.
When I use this I really feel like my pores have had a deep clean treatment, and my whole face feels smooth and glowing.
This is a great face mask, but as I mentioned earlier due to the price I wouldn't use this as often as they recommend.
A fantastic product. I have used masks since the dreaded puberty started as I get black heads, although not as much as I used now that i'm getting older. I am used to mud masks, lanolin masks that dry and tighten the skin. I have used moisturissing masks as well and they seem to work as well.
This product comes in an easy to use tube, it is a clean to use tube with not crusting of the bottle around the tube. Opening and applying the product is easy but I found applying it with fingers far too messy. I applied this product with an old foundation brush and it is cleaner way of applying the mask & it lasts longer.
It takes a minute for the mask to warm and when it does it has a odd smell to i but it isn't too strong. The product worked quite well on my skin and I got a few spots afterwards which is always a good sign. It felt strange that the mask didn't dry.
Overall a good product and offers value for money but a little too messy for me.
