Vaseline is a very trusted brand for me. I've been using their lip therapy for years and I love it (especially the cocoa butter lip therapy) so when a friend of mine bought the body oil I decided to go out and buy some for myself. When I got to boots I saw the body oil, but then I saw this lotion sitting right next to it and decided to stick to what I know and go for the lotion. I've never used a body oil and I have no idea how it would feel - I'll have to give that a try another time! Anyway, this lotion smells amazing which is why I bought it. It smells like rich chocolate milk which is just amazing and it doesn't stay very strong on your skin which I think is actually a good thing. As amazing as it smells, I don't think I want to be that girl who smells like chocolate milk all day. Instead it leaves your skin feeling and smelling fresh without an overpowering scent. I went for the 200ml bottle (it also comes in 400ml) just to try it. In boots it cost me £2.99 which isn't too bad. I never like to fork out ridiculous amounts for beauty products and this seems like a reasonable amout. The first bottle I bought lasted around 3 months of everyday use. I moisturise at least my arms and legs every day so it did pretty well. The second bottle is still in use (although this time I went for 400ml as I knew I liked it). Cocoa butter is one of those ingredients that is always used in skin care and I really like it. I'm not so sure it has real benefits over other ingredients, but it's got a nice smell and it seems to do the job. This lotion is called 'essential moisture' and it really is moisturising. I don't have particularly dry skin although I do get patches and this really helped. Obviously it's not the best moisturiser in the world, but unless you have really problem skin I think it's perfect for the price. Applying the lotion is easy - the cap is at the top of the bottle and the lotion is what I consider the perfect consistency; not too runny so it drips everywhere and not too solid that you can't apply it over large areas. I give it 5/5 because it smells great and does the job for me perfectly. I will try the other flavours in this range, but I have a feeling the cocoa butter will be my favourite!
On a recent trip to Tesco's and running low on moisturisers I decided to browse the selection and see what was available. I love cocoa butter and when I saw the Vaseline Essential Moisture Cocoa Radiant lotion I just had to by it especially as it was on offer for £1.50 rather than £3 for a 200ml bottle. As the Body Gel oil was also on offer I decided to get that as well to see which I preferred. Upon flipping open the lid I instantly fell in love. The smell is just heavenly, a lovely strong scent of Shea butter, smelling just like chocolate but not overpowering. The lotion comes in a brown bottle with a chocolate brown flip top lid and it is very easy to dispense just the amount of product that you need. It is slightly thicker consistency than some lotions. I found that a little really does go a long way and I can see my bottle lasting quite a while, but it won't stop me stocking up whilst it is on offer, as I can see this becoming a favourite. It absorbs into my skin very quickly, much more quickly than the oil gel which felt heavy. My skin instantly felt much soft and very moisturised and the feeling lasted several hours. The scent lingered on my skin and could be detected even many hours later. It really is a beautiful scent and left my skin feeling lovely. I would definitely buy this again and highly recommend it to all fans of Shea butter. This review also appears on CIAO under the same username.
I picked up this body lotion a month or so ago as it was on offer in Tesco. I think I paid £1.50 instead of £3. I like to make sure I keep my skin moisturised and I usually use a body lotion or butter butter every day in the mornings and evenings so I get through quite a lot and am always interested in trying different ones. Vaseline is a well known brand which is familiar to most people and I have often had their lip tins but I think this is the first body product I have tried from them. The lotion comes in a bottle with a flip top and it is a nice chocolatey brown colour which fits with the cocoa butter scent. It looks fairly basic but nice enough. It is easy to get out a small amount at a time, and a little does go quite a long way. The lotion is quite thick for a lotion and not really runny or watery at all so it doesn't drop through your fingers and it's not sloppy at all, but it is thinner than a body butter. I think the texture of it is quite nice and it very easy to work with. It feels quite rich but it doesn't have the silkiness that you can get from some other body lotions. It is white in colour and you need to rub it in a bit or else it leaves a bit of white on the skin, so you can see when it has been properly absorbed. It does absorb quickly but I find it leaves a slight tackiness on the skin for a minute or two after application. It does feel moisturising and kind to the skin. I don't suffer with particularly dry skin but a few areas are a bit more prone to dryness, like my heels and elbows, and it does a good job there. As far as the radiance claim goes I haven't really noticed anything special, but it does make my skin feel healthy. It smells nice but it has something to it which I can't quite identify, which smells almost a bit medicinal so I can't really claim it is the best smelling of the cocoa butter products I have tried. I definitely prefer the smell of the Jergens naturals cocoa butter, but this Vaseline one does smell quite pleasant and not at all bad. Overall it is a nice body lotion which is not as exciting as some but it does do the job effectively and it is a nice basic to have in the bathroom. I would get it again.
~ The Product ~ The product is made by Vaseline and is called essential moisture cocoa radiant. The lotion is a rich feeling lotion with extracts of pure cocoa butter for healthy glowing skin. The Cocoa Butter Lotion claims to penetrate skin where dryness starts and helps to smooth away roughness and the appearance of dark spots, igniting the skin's natural glow. The extract of cocoa butter also helps to even skin tone appearance whilst the conditioning moisturisers leave skin feeling smooth and supple. I have read a few reviews about this product but decided to try it myself when I saw it on offer in my local Superdrug store. The product also appealed to me due to the fact that is has extract of cocoa butter in as I always find that this makes my skin really soft and smooth. Vaseline has been making products since 1870 and their products still remain popular today. They have a wide range of skin care products including lotions, creams, gels, lip care and other products. Their range of products can be found in many stores including Boots, Superdrug and local supermarkets. ~ Price/Availability ~ You can buy this product from Boots and Superdrug; how-ever prices may vary. For a 200ml bottle in boots the current price is £3.55. I purchased this in Superdrug for £1.77 which was on offer for half price. This is the main reason why I purchased the lotion, due to how cheap it was. This is also available to buy in 400ml and is also half-price at Superdrug for just £2.64. There are some other products in this range including Cocoa Butter Oil Gel and ~ Packaging ~ The product comes in a tall plastic bottle which is quite thin. The bottle is bronzed coloured with a dark brown lid. The colour of the bottle goes perfectly with the name of this product as its called cocoa radiant. On the front it states that the product is made by Vaseline and is a rich feeling lotion for healthy glowing skin. On the back of the product is a list of ingredients and some information about the product and what it claims to do. It also states that the product is made by Unilever and there are contact details on the back of the bottle should you have any complaints or what to contact them about anything. The packaging is slightly eye catching due to the bronzed colour of the bottle, which looks rather like something that fake tan would be stored in. If I wanted to buy the product again I would be able to spot it straight away as other skin care products tend to be in white or lighter coloured packaging. ~ Using the product ~ I sometimes suffer from dry patches and often get outbreaks of eczema. To keep my skin in good condition I tend to use a moisturiser at least twice a day, once in the morning and in the evening to help keep my skin soft and supple. I decided to apply the lotion after showering to obtain the best results. I patted my skin dry with a towel and then flipped the lid open. I smelt the product before dispensing any and the lotion smelt lovely, it had a lovely sweet scent to it but it wasn't so sweet that it smelt sickly. The lotion was a beige colour and was quite thick, I only dispensed a small amount onto my fingers and I rubbed it into my arms. I needed a little more so I squeezed the bottle to dispense some more. The lotion felt really soft against my skin and was easy to rub in. As soon as I started rubbing the lotion over my skin I could smell the delicious sweet smell. I continued to apply the product over the whole of my body and by the time I had done this I could really smell the cocoa butter. The lotion only took a few minutes to soak in and it left my skin feeling soft and smooth. The smell of the product stayed on my skin which I loved. The lotion wasn't greasy and didn't leave my skin feeling greasy either which was great. ~ Overall Opinion ~ The smell of the product is gorgeous, and I love the fact that the smell of it stayed on my skin throughout the day. The product was easy to apply and I didn't need to use too much as a little goes a long way. I loved the fact that the product was absorbed easily and quickly leaving my skin feels smooth. I have been using the product for approximately 3 days and I think my skin is noticeably smoother and softer than it was before. I will continue to use this product and when it runs out I would consider buying it again. I recommend this product to others and give it a well-deserved 5 out of 5 stars. (review also on ciao)
I purchased Vaseline Essential Moisture Cocoa Radiant body lotion as part of my ongoing quest to find a cheaper but just as effective alternative to Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula. The fact the 200ml bottle was on offer in Tesco for just £1.50, half its usual price of £3, was an incentive. As this body lotion is made by Vaseline I had high hopes for this product. Vaseline, as it even states on this bottle, has been caring for skin since 1870, and they are a well-recognised and respected name in the beauty industry. You know that you are always going to get a decent product from Vaseline, and at times a really wonderful product - but which category was the Vaseline Essential Moisture Cocoa Radiant body lotion going to fall into? The Promise According to the front of the bottle, Vaseline Essential Moisture Cocoa Radiant body lotion is a rich feeling lotion for healthy glowing skin. It continues on the back that it promises to leave skin feeling healthy and glowing and combines the magic combination of pure cocoa butter with multi-layer moisture. The Product The body lotion comes in a rectangular bottle which is a light golden brown in colour with a darker brown flip top lid. Brown is not the most appealing colour for a cosmetics bottle but as this is a cocoa-based product the colour is appropriate to illustrate the main ingredient. It is actually also a summery colour. It reminds you of sandy beaches and the resulting tan and even has similarities to bottles of fake tan and sun tan lotion in design. It is clever marketing as it immediately conjures up feel good emotions of a time of year when your skin is generally looking at its best. On the label on the front of the bottle is the usual blue Vaseline logo at the top. The title of the product in white writing follows underneath, with the words 'cocoa radiant' emphasised in a larger font. In the bottom right hand corner of the label is a simple picture of three cocoa beans alongside the words 'pure cocoa butter' and 'multi-layer moisture'. Also currently, the front label carries a red sticker stating this product is 'new'. On the back of the bottle is a short blurb about what the product will do to your skin, along with a list of ingredients and telephone numbers and addresses to call with any questions etc. My Experience The bottle is easy to open. You simply flip up the lid and tip the bottle upside down in order to squeeze a small amount into the palm of your hand. When the lotion comes out it is predominantly cream in colour with an ever so slight tinge of brown. It is much thicker and creamer than I expected it to be. The consistency puts it much further up the quality ladder than a Vaseline product in my opinion. Its velvety smooth consistency takes it towards the premium, luxury end of the market. I found you actually need less product than you would think. A good ten pence piece blob is enough to fully moisturise legs with a little over to rub over arms and torso. The smell is an unusual one. It is not the chocolaty rich and warm smell you usually find cocoa butter products have. It is quite a synthetic, plastic smell with perhaps a hint of coconut. It reminds me of a number of smells from my childhood, particularly the smell of doll's hair and also Playdoh. It is by no means unpleasant but it would be a disappointment for anyone looking for the usual cocoa scent. The smell lingers on the skin for around two hours after application I would estimate and then disappears, unless you bring your nose close to your skin and inhale. The cream is a perfect consistency to rub into the skin. I did try and apply a little too much at first but even then, when I was forced to rub it over my legs quite liberally, it soaked in naturally quite quickly. This also means you do not have to wait too long before being able to put on tights or skinny jeans. I didn't really notice an extra special glow to my skin though I have to say. My skin did look well moisturised and did have a shimmer to it but not much more than I would usually expect after moisturising my legs with a decent moisturiser. My skin is however lovely and soft to the touch and feels well nourished. If I touch it, it feels bouncy and full of moisture which is a good sign. I have had no irritation or allergic reaction to this product. It does not leave skin too greasy or tight and dried out. Conclusion I am very impressed with this product. It left my skin feeling lovely and soft and moisturised with a pleasant scent - even if it wasn't the cocoa butter scent I would have expected. I wouldn't put too much store in it leaving skin glowing on the outside but it certainly boosts the health of skin from the inside. It still fails to replace Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula but I'm not sure anything ever will, however I will certainly be purchasing another bottle if it's on offer again.
I just adore body moisturisers/butters/cream and I'm only just starting to run out from my Christmas supply. Good job it's my birthday and Christmas soon! So I decided to grab myself a few creams to last me until my goodies at Christmas. Vaseline Essential Moisture - Cocoa: "This essential moisturiser penetrates deeply to smooth away roughness and the appearance of dark spots, so your skin can glow from within" My Findings: After my showers or baths I always apply a moisturiser being that I always used to suffer with dry skin doing this has become a routine. I have tried so many over the years I've lost cost, this one being one of my most recent is certainly ranked very highly. You can either get this moisturiser in a circular tub or rectangular bottle, I opted for the bottle and I'm very glad I did as it is much easier to apply the cream this way. You don't have to scoop it out and fiddle with the lid you just flip the lid, tip the bottle up side down and squeeze gently and away you go. Being that it states cocoa on the product packaging and contents I was thinking the cream itself would be a rich chocolate colour, however the lotion is a dull white colour. As far as consistency goes I personally think the cream is medium consistency. It is extremely light on my skin and feels like pure silk when applying - heavenly! Now when it comes to the fragrance of this product I'm really in the middle as when I saw the word 'cocoa' I thought it was going to smell like chocolate. But in my opinion I kind of think it smells like chocolate butter cream mixed with playdoh. Yes a very odd combination of smells, next time you're out shopping and see this just have a sniff and you will know what I mean. It states that the cocoa within this lotion will even my skin tone and the conditioning properties will leave my skin soft and supple. Now in my opinion this does the job and does it fantastically. Once applying this to my skin in melts in straight away and my skin really does feel amazing. It is soft to touch, and does give it with that healthy looking glow even for my pale skin. This feeling also lasts well; I can apply first thing on the morning and come bed time my skin still feels wonderful. The fragrance however is some what to be desired, I personally like the smell but my partner doesn't. What is good after an hour or so the fragrance does despaired and you're just left with great feeling skin. The packaging is simple and I personally think is universal once bottle is empty the plastic container is recyclable. Price and Availability: I paid £2.00 for mine which was on special offer from Asda and should have been £3.00 at the time. I have since spotted it in a few places like Superdrug, Bodycare and Tesco's all around the £2.50 to £3.50 price mark. Overall: Overall I have to say I really like this lotion my skin just feel amazing after use, so I will be defiantly be trying more of the Vaseline moisturises. I wish the smell was chocolateier apart from that this is a perfect little product and would recommend to all. Five out of five stars from me Thanks for reading. I really like Vaseline products and my mum got me into cocoa butter after the lastest holiday - after pinching my mums cocoa butter on holiday and buying some when I got home my tan seemed to last a lot longer than just usual moisturiser and i've used it ever since. So when I saw Vaseline had a new product on special and it claimed you'd have radiant skin i had to try it! ~What it is~ Cocoa butter mosituriser for the body, made by Unilever under the vaseline brand name, it has a 12 month shelf life. ~What they say~ "Essential Moisturise cocoa butter that leaves your skin feeling healthy and glowing", "our rich feel formula combines igniting skins natural glow at the source but penetrating deeply, infusing moisture at the top, core and deep down layers" ~Packaging~ The bottle I have (and the only one I've seen) is a 200ml squeezly type with a flip lid (easy for cleaning) its quite a sleek design reminds me a bit of a sun loition bottle actually. ~Ingredients~ This shocked me actually if you read the front and top of the back of the bottle you would be easily mislead into thinking that there were only two ingredients in the forumula, Coca butter & Multi-layer moisturiser, there is actually a lot more to it! : Aqua, petrolium, glycerin, stearic acid, isoprpyl Palmiate, Glycol Stearate, Dimethicone, Butyrosperermum, parkil butter, dihydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Hydroxyyethyl Urea, Thebroma, Cocoa Seed,Butter, Isopropyl Myristate, Maltodextrin, Glyceryl Strearate, Triethanolylamaine, Carboner Cetyl Alcohol, Magnesium Aliminum Silicate, Stearamide AMP, Disodium EDTA, Pentasodium Pentetate, Parfum, Methylparaben, Phenoxyisohexyl 3-Cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde, Limonene ~Cost & Stockist~ I got this on a boots 3 for 2 offer plus boots points! Boots £3.55 Tesco £3.36 Asda £3.00 ~My Review~ The smell was very strong cocoa butter and I have to say the smell clung to my skin after using it which I really loved, my boyfriend even commented that I smelt lovely a couple hours after putting it on! it always reminds me of family holidays. The lotion is white, which I wasn't expecting, the cocoa butter I normally purchase is a brown colour. Its thick and not too oily, it rubs in really well and my skin felt really soft for hours afterwards, a little goes a long long way. I only used it on one side of my body to enable me to tell the difference with the radiance (yes I take this review stuff very seriously!) the side i used the product on did look shinny compared to my "control" rightside! I'd say the moisturiser was obvious to me for about 2 hours
