I first bought the Vaseline Intensive care lotion a few years ago. Despite every advert on TV, every magazine, and everyone in between recommending moisturising the skin daily, it's something that I haven't ever bothered with before. I'd say my skin is normal to oily, and even though I'd occasionally use a bit of moisturiser, it has never been a routine or a constant.
However, I had taken up swimming, and I could see after a couple of weeks that my skin was starting to suffer from almost daily meetings with the highly chlorinated water, in particular my elbow skin has started to painfully crack. I needed some skin lotion badly.
What attracted me to the lotion was, firstly, the brand. Yes, marketing people, Vaseline is well known and your marketing efforts have paid off.
The second thing that attracted me was the promise that it is a non-greasy lotion. One thing I really dislike, is putting a moisturiser on and "feeling" it on the skin. Trying to pull the jeans on when your skin is greasy from the cream is right up there with hearing nails on a chalkboard. Trying to put on a t-shirt on after applying greasy moisturiser and have it bunched up the back is even more unbearable than having an itch in the middle of the back and no being able to reach it.
As soon as I applied it on the skin, I was completely enamoured with the smell. It smells like long summer days, sunshine and happiness. It goes right into the skin, and it disappears completely, leaving a refreshed skin. It's quite amazing to know that you're applying quite a rich lotion to your body and have it all absorbed 2 minutes after applying it. You're ready to pop into your clothes, and the skin feels moisturised and yet non-greasy.
Once I've started using it, I noticed in about a week, that my skin wasn't as dry after a swim. My knees and elbows in particular have softened and have stopped cracking from the dryness. The smell doesn't get old and it's not overpowering.
Even when I take breaks from swimming, I still love applying it to the skin. And even though my skin is not dry when I take a break from swimming, it still doesn't feel greasy on my skin, and it still leaves it beautiful and soft.
No matter what other body lotions I buy or get gifted, Vaseline Intensive Care is always the one I reach for first.
THE PRODUCT: I purchased this lotion a few week ago as my skin was feeling a little dry and I didn't have any lotion at my boyfriends so I popped down to the small local Boots store and purchased this product. This lotion is infused with micro-droplets of the Vaseline Jelly which means that the lotion can now moisturise your skin deeply and help to restore it's healthy look. This product is great for normal to dry skin and claims to be non-greasy. This lotion sounded perfect for my slightly dry skin. I didn't want anything greasy feeling as I would be using it twice a day, once before going to work and again before bedtime.
PRICE/AVAILABILITY: I purchased a 200ml bottle from my local Boots store for £3.29. I believe this product is currently on offer those and it does come in a smaller bottle.
USING THE PRODUCT: I first applied this product after the bath to help lock in moisture. I flipped open the lid to the cream and squeezed a small amount of it into the palm of my hand. The lotion was white but had a glossy look to it. I applied this to my arms first. The lotion was really easy to rub in and it felt smooth and soft against my skin. The lotion was cool as first but it soon warmed up as I applied it. The lotion has a very light but nice scent which I liked as it smelt nice and refreshing. I continued applying the product to the rest of my body. After applying it to my skin I noticed that it was already looking moisturised and it looked radiant as well. It also gave my skin a glowing looked which made it look healthy. The following morning when waking up my skin felt lovely and soft.
OVERALL OPINION: I really like Vaseline products and did expect this product to be good having used a number of their products before. The lotion comes in a yellow bottle so it does tend to stand out a fair bit. The lotion is easy to dispense and it felt nice against my skin when applying it. The lotion doesn't smell too strong but it does have a nice, light scent to it which I liked. After applying the lotion I could see the difference in my skin as it looked healthy and moisturised. I loved the nice glow it gave to my skin as well. In terms of value I think the product is very reasonable. I won't be buying this again anytime soon as I have lots of other lotions to use but I would definitely purchase it again.
Vaseline body lotion truly makes my skin soft, imparts a healthy glow and leaves my skin smelling fresh. Wow! I love the smell.
What I liked:
It absorbs quickly in my skin (my skin is normal to dry)
The most important point is it gives my skin a very healthy glow and all the dryness of the skin is gone in a jiffy.
You can apply it even in day, it will not make skin greasy.
The smell is very fresh. I love the smell
I even notified that it gives a slight matt and velvety finish to my skin.
A added advantage, I even use this to clean my nails after buffing and believe me it gives wonderful results.
What I disliked:
The moisture lasts for only a couple of hours for me.
I have to reapply it again after sometime.
I will recommend this product surely. It is value for money. Its a great moisturizer for normal skin.
I will not recommend this for people with extremely dry skin as it won't last long for them.
I have been using Vaseline lotions now for a number of years as I think they are some of the best creams on the market today. If you're looking for a no-nonsense, non smelly, hard working, good result achieving cream for daily use then look no further than Vaseline Intensive Care Essential Moisture Lotion.
I'm like anyone, I like to use fancy creams that smell nice and luxurious but sometimes when you get out of the shower all you want is to apply a little lotion so your body skin does not dry out but you don't want to use a fancy smelling cream, just a hard working one and this lotion is perfect for doing just that and adding moisture to your skin.
Vaseline say that this lotion will Vaseline® Essential Moisture lotion leaves your skin feeling healthy, soft & smooth. and, as you can tell from above, I definitely agree. It is enriched with pure oat extract and Stratys3 multi-layer moisture which gives a clean feeling for healthy soft skin. The cream is just nice and pure and its very light and I find it absorbs very easily into my skin. Pretty much as soon as I've applied it I can get dressed and my skin does not feel greasy or sticky, its just nice and comforted again. This cream is perfect too if I've just shaved my legs in the shower to stop my legs stinging.
The cream works to not only infuse moisture at the top but also to the core and deep down layers of skin and what I like about it is that you can apply it all over your body, arms, legs, neck, chest etc and know that your whole body will feel great after use.
Vaseline essential moisture lotion - for a perfectly soft body all day, everyday! I guarantee if you use this lotion all over your body you will get perfect results too. A 400ml £4.58 and is well worth it in my opinion.
I was in Superdrug the other day to top up on some BB cream when I noticed the Vaseline lotion range was on offer. A 400ml tube of Vaseline Intensive Care Essential Moisture lotion is currently on offer for £2.29 so being one who likes a bargain I had to buy it!
This 400ml size comes packed in a soft yellow tube which is made of rather thin plastic so it can be easily squeezed to get the product out. The lid is blue at the top which is not my favourite type of packaging as I have to vigorously shake the bottle upside down when it is nearing it's end but this is not too much of a downer.
- The cream itself -
It is for usage on face, hands and body so detailed to be very versatile. It contains nutrients A, B and E so as to nourish and hydrate the skin and so suitable for most skin types. It is a light cream colour, which is lightly whipped, and reasonably thick, although not too much as it has to be squeezed out through a hole!
- My opinion -
For £2.29 and from a trusted brand such as Vaseline this is a really good bargain! I have been somewhat fussy over what I put on my own skin having had eczema as a child and this has not irritated or been harsh in any way. It is soft, smells quite neutral and absorbs into my skin really easily. The smell is really subtle, not something I can specifically put my finger on as once it soaks into my skin the smell is pretty much non-existent.
It is really light, not in any way greasy or sticky and leaves my skin feeling nourished. I definitely wouldn't say it leaves my skin glowing or shiny in any respect but is good for an everyday moisturiser. I use it on my daughter if we have run out of her cream, and it moisturises her well too. Not much is needed, I probably squeeze a blob into the palm of my hand about the size of a 10p coin which is good on my arms and legs, and then repeat this for my torso, chest etc. Of course I use a lot less on her little body!
- Overall -
I would definitely recommend this cream to those wanting a reliable every day cream suitable for men, women and children. From a leading brand such as Vaseline I think for £2.29 it is good value but I am not so sure if I would have paid the retail price of £4.69!
Vasline is well known for its skin and moisture products. The item Im review today is the Intensive Care moistureriser. The Vaseline Essential Moisture range has a non-greasy formulation that absorbs quickly to leave your skin feeling soft and looking healthy. It is a great everyday body lotion that leaves your skin silky smooth - while its special ingredients care for your skin just the way it needs.
The range of Vaseline Essential Moisture body lotions are made with pure natural extracts and include:
Essential Moisture with pure Oat extract
Aloe Fresh with pure Aloe Vera extract
Cocoa Radiant with pure Cocoa Butter extract
It is avaliable from most supermarkets and chemists and commes in 2 different sizes- 200ml priced at around £2.99 and 400ml priced at £4.99.
I have seen travel sized products but not from this range.
I aactually bought this when it first came out as it was on a special offer. I think it was half price at £1.50. I have the oat extract one, as I didnt like the smell of the other two varieties. The bottle has a nice design, basically its a tall plastic bottle, yellow in colour for my one, and it is wide at the bottom, gets slimmer in the middle and then goes out more at the top. This makes it easier to hold. The packaginf is nice, it has the classic blue vaseline logo on it and then a picture of what the lotion is made out of. It is aimed at all skin types especiaally dry skin. I use this product a lot, mainly on my legs as I always find they are dry.
Using it - Simple, flip open the top of the bottle, I actually drizzle it straight onto my legs and then rub in. Its quiet thick in consistency, simular to honey, so when I draw the line down my leg it doesnt run and go every where. It also doesnt melt, so agin no sliddy mess. When I rub it in it is absorbed very quickly and isnt sticky. I an get dressed more or less straight away. It has got a fragrence to it, I have the oat one which has a unqiue but sweet smell, its very pleasent and when rubbed in is light an not overpowering.
when finished flip the cap back on and done. Each 200ml bottle laste me a couple of moths as a little goes a long way. The only thing I dont like is after time the lotion builds up on the cap and can go gunky and discoloured, but that does wash off so it isnt much of a problem. so... the verdict....
I love this cream and have bought it time and time again and will continue to. I see a big difference in my skin and can certainly tell if I stop using it. Its good value for money and lasts for ages. The application is quick and simple. love it and would strongly recommend it.
Thanks for the read and the rates.
I have been using Vaseline Intensive care essential moisturiser since I was about fourteen, which means 36 years in total. Right through from teenage racing hormones, through two pregnancies and now menopause, this cream has unerringly kept my skin hydrated and feeling gorgeous and smooth.
Everyone has always complemented me on my "naturally" clear skin but I always assure them that I do not use an expensive complex skincare routine, just soap and water followed by Vaseline intensive care.
The cream absorbs really quickly and does not leave the skin feeling tacky like some other body creams. It has an almost neutral smell and is therefore ideal for both sexes, and it's great for when I come out of the pool, as I swim every day, rehydrating my skin instantly and stopping any reddening due to the chlorine in the pool.
The bottle shape has changed many times over the years I have been using this product, but the latest one is the easiest to grip and the flip top is easy to open and close.
I have also used it as an after sun lotion as it cools the skin and stops skin peel if you have overdone the sunbathing.
I would highly recommend this product to everyone, it is so gentle and it does not irritate even my sensitive skin. Please give it a go as I know you will not be disappointed.
I tend to be a little biased towards Vaselline products, and why not? They're great value for money and are frequently excellent quality.
This product is a little iffy for me, it has to be said. The smell is lovely, not overbearing, and the consistency is wonderful, it absorbs well into the skin. My only issue is really that the moisturizing effect tends to be a little short, often resulting in reapplication. Which is fine and good, you get plenty in the bottle for your money but it tends to be a case of where did the moisture go? After several hours you barely feel like you've applied this product at all.
This product for your convenience comes in a variety of sizes, however the shape of the top is very convenient, it's pretty large, and a bump or a squeeze in a travel bag (or hand bag depending on your aspirations, and need to carry a moisturizer around with you) will send it flying open with the cream going all over your things. I have to say that this is quite a disappointment, as I love this product, but wouldn't really seriously consider being a convert from my current moisturizer for full time purposes.
I can honestly say that this product is worth the money in terms of volume, but in terms of quality perhaps you'll be better off considering another product.
I often tend to develop very dry skin, I find this mostly during winter or just whenever the air is generally very dry however I don't like moisturizer, but i like this. Generally i find with moisturizers is i find that they leave my skin feeling sticky and wet.
I initially only first tried this product when i stole it from my mums cupboard but then was pleasantly surprised how effective it is. I tend to use it whenever i get out of the bath and whenever i get up in the morning, the cream is very easy to spread across your skin and it rubs in very well, i find that it absorbs into my skin very easily where others will just sit on the top and annoy me, often i can apply two applications and it will still absorb better than other moisturizers.
The scent of the Vaseline intensive care is not the nicest of scents on a moisturizer to say the least however i wouldn't go as far as saying it was off putting but as most do i put on over fragrances on which in turn mask the scent of the Vaseline.
Cost value is also very good with this product as you get a decent sized bottle and it can be picked up for only a few quid which is much better than some of it's competitors that you see at over five pounds which I'm amazed that anyone buys. The Vaseline also claims to have "glycerin" which instantly increases moisture and "occlusives" that help lock the moisture in all day.
Vaseline Essential moisture lotion is Nice light but basic Lotion to have as part of your Cosmetic collection and smells great! its Easy to rub in and it Does'nt leave a tint colour on skin and is made up of basic ingredients that your skin won't reject! so its a good moisturiser for people with sensitive or fussy skin!!!!!
....its a good lotion to use if your in a hurry or if you need a light lotion that absorbs quickly......for example if your getting dressed in the morning before work or school and need to be some where soon Quite time saving in terms of that!
Also Might be ideal in my opinion for busy people who are on the go!,people who don't like heavy moisturisers, people with greasy Skin, before Make up application, face painting after shaving, after excercise, use before bed! exposure to sun, or simply if you skin needs a quick moisture boost!!- So it has many uses but sadly but not useful after a hot shower or long bath where you skin would need a intense moisturiser afterwards due to being dried out by the water, this moisturiser would simply not be heavy enough!!!
But unfourutnely for me I found this moisturiser was too light for my skin after using this lotion my skin felt moisturised but after about 30 mins of using my skin felt very dry as if i had'nt bothered in the first place! so i found i had to use alot each time to make up the difference which will result in obviously using more of the product or mixing with another moisturiser......using more made the bottle finish quicker these method's wern't purse friendly or time saving!!! so again in my opinion this lotion would not be benificial for people with dry or very skin or people who prefer long lasting intense moisturisers!!!
I use quite a few lotions, and I find Vaseline Essential Moisture to be one of the better ones. On the front of the bottle, it mentions there are Vitamins E and A but on the back it also says that there are Vitamins A, B, E and other minerals. The text is easy to read. The label also confirms that Essential Moisture will help you achieve softer and smoother skin, and that this is for normal to dry skin. The bottle also mentions that Vaseline Essential Moisture will help replenish daily hydration, and I feel the hydrating effect at work as soon as I put it on.
The moisturising effects work well, and as you work the lotion into your skin you feel a cooling sensation. The scent is the unique Vaseline scent. It is difficult to describe, but it is quite deep, soft and very pleasant. The lotion is a good consistency, not too thick or runny. It is very easy to apply to all areas of the body. I only need a small amount of lotion to feel hydrated, and I can use it as a whole body lotion. As with most other lotions, you also need to apply it fairly regularly to feel the softening and smoothing effects on your skin.
Vaseline Essential Moisture costs £2.85 from Boots. The packaging has the trademark Vaseline design, with a dark blue flip top cap, light yellow for the main part of the bottle and blue text. The blue Vaseline logo is clearly recognisable, so you know straight away that it is Vaseline when you look for it in shops. On the back, Vaseline say they keep skin amazing, which on the whole I would say they do. I think this is a very useful lotion to have on hand as it relieves dry and sore skin.
I use this product to moisturize every day because it keeps my skin in good condition. I even use it on my face, as it's not overly oily, which is perfect. It is really good for my skin all over.
This product is available in 3 sizes, a 75ml tube, handy for carrying around, costing £1.70, a smaller 200ml bottle, costing £2.85, and a bigger 400ml bottle, costing £4.59. (Prices from boots.com) If you shop around, there are always offers and cheaper deals to take advantage off, but the biggest bottle gives you the best value. The product, once opened, should be used in 12 months, but through daily use for all over the body, this should be no issue even if you buy the bigger bottle for your self.
I like this product because it is fragrance free and is aimed at normal to dry skin. The cream feels light and silky, and is absorbed easily by the skin (if you don't apply excessive amounts) which makes moisturizing daily quick and hassle free.
Although I often use other products on top of this, such as scented body butters, Vaseline Essential Moisturizer is the main part of my daily routine, and forms the base for any extras you choose to use.
I have only recently started using this product but i honestly can not fault it. I bought mine online from Superdrug and the main reason was because it was half price - £2.32 instead of £4.64, which for the 400ml bottle is definetly amazing value. I usually moisturise with body butters or vitamin E creams but because i have dry and sensetive patches of skin due to eczema scars i wanted something that wasn't as highly fragranced or thick, so this seemed ideal.
The bottle as mentioned before is 400ml and is in the style in my opinion of a shampoo bottle - tall and thick. It is a creamy mild yellow colour with the vaseline logo on the front and the product name - essential moisture daily body lotion. Underneath this it says 'for softer, smoother skin' and underneath that it states that it is for normal to dry skin. In the far top right corner it says 'improved fomula' and on the bottom right there is a picture of an orange box with clear raindrops (obviously mirroring the fact that this is a moisturising product). Above the picture it reads 'vitamins E & A', which i assume means that these vitamins are included in the formula.
On the back it explains how underneath the surface, healthy skin is up to 90% water, and that most of us lose a around a pint of water and vital nutrients from our skin throughout each day. This is where this comes in - it is a multivitamin moisturiser which helps to replenish daily hydration, ensuring the skin looks and feels healthy and hydrated.
The lid of the bottle is designed like a shampoo bottle and lifts up to expose a small hole. When the bottle is tipped upside down, the moisturiser pours out and is very thin in consistency, there is no need to squeeze at all. The smell has a fruit tint to it but i can't really describe the excact smell but overall it is a pleasent, fresh, discreet smell. It is definetly perfumed but not overpoweringly so.
The consistency of the liquid is like watered down shampoo, so spreading it on the skin is easy and it sinks in extraordinarily fast, however i do always make sure i apply a thin layer rather than going overboard to ensure no residue is left and non of the moisturiser goes to waste. Once it is absorbed into the skin it leaves the skin feeling fresh and moist and it doesn't leave any greasiness behind at all either. I apply mine with my hands, and once i've applied enough to my body i usually rub it into my hands and afer 1-2 minutes it's pretty much completely dry.
I have been using this for around 2 weeks straight now and love it! It's so easy to use and smells great, it's so lightweight compared to other moisturisers and soaks into my skin with ease. I have noticed my skin is much softer and also seems to look better overall - much more clearer if that makes sense. The consistency of the liquid is a tiny bit of a let down, but it isn't going to stop me awarding this product 5 out of 5 Dooyoo stars - reccomended 100 percent!
Vaseline Intensive care Essential Moisture Dry Skin Lotion
For as long as I can remember I have always had dry skin in general.
I have found that my skin suffers the most during the winter months, especially on my legs!
I put this down to the effects of harsh bitter weather conditions combined with the heating being on for many hours. I must also blame myself as during the winter I tend to skip my moisturising routine and usually jump straight out the shower and into my clothes (When it is freezing cold, my main priority is to get warm quick, not to stand in the nude moisturising).
I have bought so many different moisturisers, creams, body butters and lotions over the years. My skin would probably not be so bad, if I kept up with a regular moisturising skincare routine.
I don't really pay too much attention to which moisturiser I buy, as long as it looks like it will do a good job and is a decent price, I am quite happy to give it a chance. The main thing for me is that it is recommended for dry/extremely dry skin (as I certainly do not have normal/oily skin)
One of the many lotions I have purchased is 'Vaseline Intensive care Essential Moisture Dry Skin Lotion' which I purchased in Superdrug.
The lotion is contained in a rather modest looking plastic squeezy bottle. The bottle is pale yellow in colour, with a navy blue flip-lid.
The bottle contains 200ml of lotion.
On the front of the bottle you will find the Vaseline intensive care logo, along with basic information on the lotion i.e., Vitamin A & E, Hydrates and replenishes, Multi-vitamin complex.
The back displays the following information:
'Vaseline intensive Care Essential Moisture dry skin lotion, replenishes essential moisture where skin needs it most. Essential Moisture with vitamins A & E and glycerine to maintain skin leaving it soft, smooth and feeling healthy. Essential Moisture is a fast, non greasy lotion. Apply liberally all over your body.'
It also displays the ingredients, contact information and of course, the barcode!
The Lotion -
The lotion itself is pale yellow (the same colour as the packaging) and has a lovely sheen to it. It has a light subtle fragrant smell, which I liken to magnolia, which is rather nice. As with most lotions, it is quite thin in texture, but also quite runny!
Currently selling at Superdrug at £4.64 for 400ml.
My experience of using the lotion-
I purchased this Vaseline Intensive lotion on impulse two winters ago, when my legs in particular were rather dry, cracked and sore.
I had high hopes for this lotion, as I am a big fan of Vaseline products in general, particularly their petroleum jelly, which I have used for many years.
On first use, I was quite disappointed with the lotion as it was rather thin and runny. My legs were so sore at the time that they actually 'stung' and turned bright red when I applied the lotion.
I had needed a moisturiser that would have a fast effect in moisturising my legs, but this didn't seem to have much effect.
I used this lotion several times, without much luck, and then decided that I needed a much thinker based cream to cure my dry pins. So my modest bottle of Vaseline Intensive care Essential Moisture lotion was shoved to the back of the cupboard.
There it stayed, for over a year, and then one day we were both reunited.
I decided to give the lotion another chance, and am very pleased that I did.
My skin now wasn't as dry as it had been when I had first tried the product, and I found that it now made a significant change to the softness of my skin.
I found the lotion to be non-greasy (true to description) and it rubs in really well. A little really does go a long way with this lotion.
I have found that for relatively dry/ normal skin, Vaseline Intensive care Essential Moisture Dry Skin Lotion is an excellent everyday lotion that will help your skin stay baby soft.
However, if your skin has gone past the point of being a bit dry, to extremely dry and sore, you will find that this lotion will not help you much and you will be better off looking for an intensive cream or body butter.
The lotion is great for daily use, and within two days my skin felt noticeable softer and smoother. I have also found it to be a great moisturiser to prepare my skin for fake tanning lotions.
However, I would advise this as a lotion to use during the summer months (rather than winter) when skin is already in a better condition.
I would also advise that you are careful when squeezing the bottle, as it is very runny, and I have often ended up with excess lotion, which is rather wasteful.
My review is based on the 75ml Essential Moisture Conditioning lotion.
As a brand, Vaseline has been around for 40 years, first starting in the USA. They have an array of items typically aimed at a certain part of the body - mainly hands, body, feet and lips.
---------What is it?-----------
Essentially, its aimed at dry skin. Its a lotion which contains nutrients A, B and E. It is designed to keep our skin hydrated, healthy and vibrant.
The 75ml lotion is packaged in a soft yellow tube. The bottle is lid down, so the lotion is easy to squeeze out and doesn't get too messy. The lid is a flip lid which clicks closed quite tightly so it doesn't spill out when not needed.
On the front of the bottle the usual "Vaseline" logo is displayed in a navy blue colour, this stands out against the soft yellow of the bottle. The packaging isn't over the top and is very neutral looking.
Turn the bottle around and you will find the list of ingredients - Vitamins A and E, glycerin and the mineral B5. There is a short paragraph explaining what the cream is, this is then translated from English into Spanish and German.
The lotion is also available in 400ml, 200ml and 100ml.
There is a variety of prices for this lotion - as of the 20/11/10 the prices for the 75ml are as follows:
Boots - £1.11 (just reduced from £1.65)
Poundworld - £1.00
I have recently started buying mine from Poundworld as its the cheapest I can find - and as I go through so much of it its a bargain!
----------------Appearance, Smell and Feel---------------------
The lotion is creme in colour and smooth. It doesn't make my hands slippy, sticky or greasy and is absorbed into the skin straight away.
It smells clean, not overpowering and fresh, and the smell lingers for a while after applying.
As mentioned previously the lotion is packaged in a lid-down bottle, this results in a lot of the lotion being clogged up in the lid - which can be quite messy!
Overall I think this is a great hand lotion. Its in-expensive, a brand with a name I can trust and does make my hands feel hydrated and soft. It does what it says on the tin so to speak, so all in all a great lotion!
