Vaseline Intensive care Essential Moisture Dry Skin Lotion
For as long as I can remember I have always had dry skin in general.
I have found that my skin suffers the most during the winter months, especially on my legs!
I put this down to the effects of harsh bitter weather conditions combined with the heating being on for many hours. I must also blame myself as during the winter I tend to skip my moisturising routine and usually jump straight out the shower and into my clothes (When it is freezing cold, my main priority is to get warm quick, not to stand in the nude moisturising).
I have bought so many different moisturisers, creams, body butters and lotions over the years. My skin would probably not be so bad, if I kept up with a regular moisturising skincare routine.
I don't really pay too much attention to which moisturiser I buy, as long as it looks like it will do a good job and is a decent price, I am quite happy to give it a chance. The main thing for me is that it is recommended for dry/extremely dry skin (as I certainly do not have normal/oily skin)
One of the many lotions I have purchased is 'Vaseline Intensive care Essential Moisture Dry Skin Lotion' which I purchased in Superdrug.
The lotion is contained in a rather modest looking plastic squeezy bottle. The bottle is pale yellow in colour, with a navy blue flip-lid.
The bottle contains 200ml of lotion.
On the front of the bottle you will find the Vaseline intensive care logo, along with basic information on the lotion i.e., Vitamin A & E, Hydrates and replenishes, Multi-vitamin complex.
The back displays the following information:
'Vaseline intensive Care Essential Moisture dry skin lotion, replenishes essential moisture where skin needs it most. Essential Moisture with vitamins A & E and glycerine to maintain skin leaving it soft, smooth and feeling healthy. Essential Moisture is a fast, non greasy lotion. Apply liberally all over your body.'
It also displays the ingredients, contact information and of course, the barcode!
The Lotion -
The lotion itself is pale yellow (the same colour as the packaging) and has a lovely sheen to it. It has a light subtle fragrant smell, which I liken to magnolia, which is rather nice. As with most lotions, it is quite thin in texture, but also quite runny!
Currently selling at Superdrug at £4.64 for 400ml.
My experience of using the lotion-
I purchased this Vaseline Intensive lotion on impulse two winters ago, when my legs in particular were rather dry, cracked and sore.
I had high hopes for this lotion, as I am a big fan of Vaseline products in general, particularly their petroleum jelly, which I have used for many years.
On first use, I was quite disappointed with the lotion as it was rather thin and runny. My legs were so sore at the time that they actually 'stung' and turned bright red when I applied the lotion.
I had needed a moisturiser that would have a fast effect in moisturising my legs, but this didn't seem to have much effect.
I used this lotion several times, without much luck, and then decided that I needed a much thinker based cream to cure my dry pins. So my modest bottle of Vaseline Intensive care Essential Moisture lotion was shoved to the back of the cupboard.
There it stayed, for over a year, and then one day we were both reunited.
I decided to give the lotion another chance, and am very pleased that I did.
My skin now wasn't as dry as it had been when I had first tried the product, and I found that it now made a significant change to the softness of my skin.
I found the lotion to be non-greasy (true to description) and it rubs in really well. A little really does go a long way with this lotion.
I have found that for relatively dry/ normal skin, Vaseline Intensive care Essential Moisture Dry Skin Lotion is an excellent everyday lotion that will help your skin stay baby soft.
However, if your skin has gone past the point of being a bit dry, to extremely dry and sore, you will find that this lotion will not help you much and you will be better off looking for an intensive cream or body butter.
The lotion is great for daily use, and within two days my skin felt noticeable softer and smoother. I have also found it to be a great moisturiser to prepare my skin for fake tanning lotions.
However, I would advise this as a lotion to use during the summer months (rather than winter) when skin is already in a better condition.
I would also advise that you are careful when squeezing the bottle, as it is very runny, and I have often ended up with excess lotion, which is rather wasteful.
Summary: reasonable price to pay for a reasonable product!
