*** This review is for Virgin Vie Timeless Beauty Day Cream***
Having recently gone past the early 30s mark I realised I needed to change my skin care routine and purchased 50ml of this online costing a budget busting £26 from my birthday money - this was how I managed to justify it!
The cream comes in a cream coloured glass container with a gold lid which you unscrew to open. There is no list of products used on the jar itself but it claims to protect and energise your skin whilst also increasing elastin and collegen levels - as it has been tested and approved this must have some truth to it.
Once opened you remove a small plastic lid to reveal an orange coloured cream. To be perfectly honest the scent was practically the same as most moisturising products but a little more subtle. I applied this to my face using my fingers - very little is needed as it is a lighter cream than I expected and absorbs into the skin very easily, quickly moisturising the dry areas well and allowing foundation to go on easily aferwards with no patchiness you get after using some moisturisers.
Does it work??
My skin definately feels softer and looks healthier - more of a glow to it - having swapped to this and does stay feeling moisturised for a large proportion of the day without being oily. Do I look younger - probably not! Does it reduce wrinkles - Not drastically but I don't have many - my "crows eyes" are not quite so obvious after a months use.
I *love* this stuff! It smells like orange blossom, has a great texture, and is an absolute pleasure to use. Somehow even it's pale green colour lends a natural and healthy feel to it! I have the kind of skin that can never quite make its mind up between greasy and dry, so finding a moisturiser that both works and doesn't bring me out in age-inappropriate zits is somewhat of a challenge! In addition, I'm a sensitive soul, and quite a number of products I've tried leave my skin irritated and looking like I've take a sander to it. This fact was highlighted when I hosted a Virgin Vie Skincare party and got to try their product range in the comfort of my own home with a glass or three of wine and a group of friends. As I do have sensitive skin, the hostess used the "Stay Calm" range on me..... After a couple of minutes I told her my face was itching..... "It can't be", she said. (Whatever happened to the customer always being right?!) "In all the time I've used it, no one's *ever* had a reaction to this range. It's impossible! " ........... 5 uncomfortable minutes later my face was covered in itchy red spots and I was dispatched rapidly to the bathroom to wash it all off. (I later discovered at least two of my friends had suffered similarly at her hands!) As you might imagine I was not in a hurry to repeat the experience with another Virgin Vie product, but was persuaded to try Face Defence. What a difference! It's supposedly for "environmentally challenged skin" but I can't really see why any woman's skin wouldn't fit that description. It's the only one of Virgin's current range to have SPF 15, so I feel like I'm being sensible and careful after a childhood of overexposure to the sun, and its nice to be able to just use a lovely moisturiser on my face during the summer months rather than a
greasy smelly suntan product. I am now a daily user of Virgin's Face Defence Day Cream. It smells so good, moisturises without leaving my skin feeling greasy, and even comes in a pretty glass jar. Definitely a feel-good experience! To book a Virgin Class (and I guess they'd also tell you about mail order and where their shops are) call 0870 909 90 95. There are only 12 Virgin Vie stores nationwide, but many more Representatives who demonstrate the Virgin products, and can sell to you directly or by party plan. Personally I'd recommend party plan, the parties make for a really nice girly evening in, and if you're hosting it, you can get free products based on sales :-)
