Virgin Vie Vitality Boost Cleansing Mousse. As a former Virgin Vie consultant, I have naturally had plenty of chance to sample most of their products, this being one of them, and apart from one shower gel from their range I have been pleasantly surprised by all of them.
This mousse is lovely to use, it is light and soft, and has a gorgeous orangey smell that is really refreshing to use, especially in the morning.
It foams up very easily and works wonders on all the make-up and grime, and leaves my skin feeling soft and clean. I hate it when cleansers leave my skin feeling tight, but this did the opposite and was really pleasing. It does contain vitamin C which accounts for the lovely glow, but that said, it could be slightly too potent for people with sensitive skins.
The packaging, as with all Virgin Vie products looks very high end, and the price is excellent too, as it does last a long time.
Ah, the Virgin Vie party. Lots of ladies sipping wine, gorging on nibbles, indulging in more sampling and pampering than any rational male could imagine, and at the end of the night thinking "oh heck, I'd better buy something so no one thinks I'm tight, what's the cheapest?" Or maybe that's just me?
Seriously, I am generally a fan of things from the Virgin Vie range and at one of their products parties, this cleansing mousse caught my eye. The packaging is simple and fairly elegant, a light peach coloured tube with a slightly frosted silver lid. The lid is flat and the product stands upright on it, meaning that the product is dispensed easily when the lid is removed. Unlike some products though, I don't find that the design causes any of the product to leak into the lid or the product to gush out too quickly when the lid is removed. A gentle squeeze usually dispenses just the right amount.
The mousse itself is a very similar colour to the tube, just lighter and with an opalescent sheen to it. This does look really appealing, as you can imagine it will leave your face with a hint of this healthy looking shimmer. It is not strictly a mousse as it is more liquid than that, but feels rather light and foamy compared to your average cleanser. I have to confess, I was a bit baffled by this originally as I had assumed it was meant to be used as a facial wash, it was only after reading the instructions properly that I realised it was supposed to be massaged directly into skin, then rinsed off. I blame the packaging for this (rather than myself, naturally) as I would expect a cleanser to be in a pump action bottle, whereas this just looks like a face wash. In fact, even as I write this I am doubting myself again!
Stupidity aside (incidentally I quite liked it as a face wash!) it has a lovely texture and feels quite luxurious on the skin. The fragrance is also pleasantly refreshing, slightly peachy with a hint of citrus, and just strong enough without being sickly. The 'mousse' feels light on the skin, but does cling somewhat, so you feel it is working to lift the dirt. It does need a very thorough rinse because of this, a splash of water will not suffice and your skin will be left feeling slightly greasy. Assuming it has been washed off well, the end result is wonderfully fresh feeling skin.
I was really pleased with this product. At £7.50 for a 125ml bottle it is a little more expensive than I would generally buy, but I have found a little goes a long way and it is far nicer than my usual cheaper brand. My skin is left feeling really clear and definitely looks a little more vibrant. And after the amount of wine and nibbles consumed at the party in question, I could definitely have done with it the following morning!
