“ Brand: Yves Rocher / Type: Toner / Skin type: for dry skin and for all types „
As anyone who regularly reads my reviews will no doubt be aware, I am a big fan of French beauty company Yves Rocher and use their products on a regular basis. Recently I wrote a positive review on one of their face cleansers, in the form of 'floral cleansing milk' which is part of the Pure Calmille range.
I had nothing but praise for the milk, so will the toner live up to my expectations? This review will now focus on the toner though there will be references made occasionally to the cleansing milk.

Okay, advertising over with!
Packaging wise this is almost identical to the cleansing milk. It comes housed in a 'squashed' looking cylindrical shaped bottle which is made of recyclable plastic (as with all YR products the packaging is all recyclable). The colouring is predominantly white except for the lid which is a contrasting bright yellow as opposed to the more opaque white lid that accompanies the cleansing milk.
The toner comes in a reasonable size of 200 ml and comes in just this one standard size. It costs around £4.50 generally but is currently on an offer price of £2.50 (January 12') so is very reasonably priced for an YR product as they are not exactly renowned for being cheap.
*~*What makes this special?*~*
As with the matching cleansing milk in the Pure Calmille range, this toner is not only infused with a very pretty floral essence but is also made using specially grown organic chamomile. Though it is predominantly the flowery scent that is the most noticeable here there is also a subtle and delicate chamomile aroma that compliments the floral scent beautifully.
This is designed to be used following the cleansing milk and is to be used both morning and evening to renew and revive the skin. As mentioned in my cleansing milk review I only use these products on an evening preferring to use a face wash first thing in a morning.
A small amount is to be soaked on to a cotton wool pad and then swept over the face to remove any traces of make up and remaining cleansing milk and eradicating impurities.
*~*My experience of using this*~*
Having been very impressed indeed with the cleansing milk I was slightly wary of how this toner would leave my skin feeling, as in the past I have always found toners to leave my face feeling taut despite how gentle they may be and because of this fact I've never been a fan of them.
As I was determined to stick to a 3 step regime of cleanse, tone and moisturise for at least the duration of using the bottle (and matching items) up I started using this as soon as possible, and though it states use twice a day as mentioned I prefer to just use cleansers and toners on an evening.
On opening the relatively easy flip top lid placed on top of the bottle there is a rather large opening from which the toner is accessed via. The only reason I am mentioning this is because on the first occasion I used it I found it 'slopped' out and I ended up spilling some so do be careful if using this for the first time.
Once the lid is actually open I was greeted with a very pretty floral aroma and though it is hard to pinpoint exactly the scent reminds me of sunflowers and has an obvious yet subtle smell.
On pouring some onto a cotton wool pad it is clear to see this is a rich yellow liquid in colour and the consistency is just like water so is very thin and as mentioned can spill very easily.
I simply sweep the soaked cotton pad over my face and neck (steering well clear of the delicate eye area) and my face starts to feel instantly refreshed and thoroughly cleansed almost immediately.
The toner feels very cool against my skin on application and though it doesn't sting at all it does make my skin tingle in a cold and clean way (the way menthol face washes can).
The toner removes any left over cleansing milk residue and also cleans deep down as the cotton wool pads almost always have 'dirt' embedded on them despite using the cleanser beforehand.
*~*Results and recommendation?*~*
The toner not only feels incredibly refreshing but dries within seconds of applying to my skin and luckily doesn't leave it feeling remotely taut or tight which is what worried me before using.
This is such a soft and gentle product that even if used on the most sensitive skin shouldn't cause any problems as the range is designed for sensitive skin anyway.
I have been using this for around five/ six weeks now and again have nothing but praise for it's performance. My skin feels soft, cleansed and revived after each use and this is just with using on an evening. I really like this as you may have guessed and it has restored my faith once again in the good old toner.
This is such a gentle product that instantly revives and tones the skin and has the added bonus of being alcohol free. It cleanses thoroughly and deep down whilst leaving behind a gentle floral aroma that smells of flowers and sunshine and is the nicest toner I have ever come across.
I have quite sensitive skin at times, that borders on the dry side now and again as well and this seems to have improved the feel and look of it as it gives my skin a real glow after using. Because a small amount goes a long way it's also a very economical product as well as there is still over half a bottle left after using consecutively for nearly 6 weeks.
It doesn't leave skin taut or uncomfortable and is a pleasure to use each evening so will definitely be buying this again..maybe even at full price which says something as I never buy at full price (or rarely)!
