Roald Dahl in general

When I was at university studying playwork, I carried out a survey of books read by children aged 7-14. The favourites by a long way were Roald Dahl books. Although this survey was quite small (25 children) it does appear to be quite representative of children's reading habits. A 1990's survey of 4,000 children, conducted by The Library Association, Roald Dahl was the most popular author with his books taking the top five places. Roald Dahl books , are usual humerous and well written! Often they are based round a child as one of the main charaters . Roald Dahl books are aimed at younger aged children , from around age 8-12 I would say . Roald Dahl books are very creatively written , they are written well and capture your attention from the moment you open the book! My favourite Roald Dahl book was The BFG and I still love it to this day. To me, Dahl took you away from boring normal life and showed you what kind of fun you could have. I first came across Roald Dahl when I was seven when my teacher read the class The Enormous Crocodile. I thought it was one of the coolest books ever and managed to get my mum to buy me the book before we had even finished reading it in school. That book taught me a trick, which at that age I thought was really neat: in one part of The Enormous Crocodile, the croc, which eats kids, lay in the fun fair on one of the rides and pretended to be a dummy crocodile that was part of the ride.
