Depending on which size you buy it either comes in a tube or a jar similar to a posh preserving jar. There is a hinged lid that is sealed with rubber to keep the mud moist and fresh. I have found the jar though more expensive does keep the mud fresher long than the tube.
Smell

I have been using this Fango Mud on and off for about 10years my use of it depend not really on the products ability to do its job but on my finical circumstances as its not a cheap product.
