I have a vast collection of mascaras all desperately waiting to be reviewed. They're all sitting in my mascara drawer begging for my approval, sadly not all of the mascaras can get this as 90% of mascaras on the market suck. To me, mascara is a very important product in my make-up routine - there isn't a day that I won't wear mascara, it opens your eyes up and makes your face look so much brighter, especially if you're like me with very blonde eyelashes!

I didn't actually buy this mascara (no, I didn't steal it, just keep reading), my mother gave it to me as a little something extra for Christmas. She obviously didn't know what to get me as she gave me 5 mascaras along with my other gifts! I'd actually looked at this mascara before (Bourjois Mascara Volume Clubbing) and was rather pleased when I unwrapped it as it meant I would get to try it for free, mwahahah.

Bourjois Mascara Volume Clubbing comes in a long, fat, cylindrical tube. The colour of this tube varies with which colour of mascara you buy. I was given Black Lumiere Noire (sadly, I can't speak french so that could mean absolutely anything to me). The pattern on the tube is just like the one in the picture shown above, except everything seems to be outlined in purple. It also says "Lumiere Noire UV Light" on the front, so I assume that it means that when you wear this mascara under a UV light that your lashes will glow? Pretty stupid if you ask me...
The tube also tells me that there are 11ml of mascara in the tube and that it will go off and won't be suitable for use after 6 months.

As soon as I opened the bottle, I chuckled to myself. I wasn't quite sure if it was a joke or what the hell it was. It was definitely a chunky wand (like I'm used to), except instead of having bristles the whole way round, they were just randomly sticking out of two sides of the wand. The wand would definitely get all of my lashes in 1 or 2 swipes, whether I would want it to is the problem...

Before I even tried the mascara, I could tell that the wand was coated in what I can only explain a black mulch - and this was only from looking at it. It didn't look new, it looked around a year old, but being the curious creature that I am, I decided to try it anyway.

I was right, it only took 2 swipes to cover each of my lashes. Welcome to ClumpTown - Population; one million, three hundred and seventy two.
Not only was this a very dry, flaky mascara, but holy hell, talk about spidery, clumpy lashes. This is basically everything you WOULDN'T want in a mascara, and everything you WOULDN'T want to put near your eyes, blended together and thrown into a tube with what looks like a very used toothbrush.

I can't tell you if the UV bit works, simply because I haven't been in hospital toilets or to any raves whilst wearing this (that could be because I've never worn it out of the house actually...).

If you STILL want to try this, well, good luck to you.
You can buy it from anywhere that stocks Bourjois products, Boots and Superdrug are the most common. It will cost you £7.82.

Summary

- mediocre price
- Black actually comes out as a charcoal grey colour
- no volume or length, just clumps
- not something you would want to put near your eyes, unless of course you LIKE to put tar in your eyes.....
- quite frankly one of the worst mascaras I've ever had the misfortune to stubble upon

Thanks for reading!

This is a really funny review. I agree that 90% of mascaras are rubbish. x
