Advantages: Very black

Disadvantages: A bit clumpy

Bourjois mascara
One of my new mascaras, bought whilst looking for something which would not cause panda ayes in the rain.
THE PROMISES...
The mascara is tested and approved by clubbers, apparently lasts for up to 10 hours and is tear and sweat resistant, so it shouldn't end up down your cheeks. Sounds like a good thing but it makes me wonder who they tested it on and where. The blurb promises me that this is ultra resistant, with metallic shimmer to "play with the spotlights"! All I really want is a non clumpy non runny mascara but seems I may be getting a bit more...

THE PRODUCT...

The mascara comes in a fairly chunky bottle ( do we call them bottles?). Like the website (more later) this goes for the "funky" look with an eye on the front with long long lashes, and it's all black and silver.

The brush itself is advertised as being double sided and king size for volume building. So, i unscrew the lid and have a look. The brush is thick and the bristles are short and chunky, and they do indeed go all the way round the wand. However, it doesn't seem any different to other mascaras with all round bristles.

So, on to applying it. It should be applied as other mascaras and at this stage i find that the short all round bristles can cause a problem with clumping. It is indeed absolutely black but when I apply it to my lashes it does have a tendency to clump them together rather than separating them and I find that I have to use another mascara afterwards to seperate the lashes. On the plus side, the mascara does build volume and is very black but there is none of the promised shimmer that I can see.

It is very very waterproof, and takes some getting off, which for anyone wanting a long lasting mascara is great. However, removing it requires the use of a very good eye make up remover and some patience.

PRICE AND AVAILABILITY
Available from chemists and supermarkets, this costs £7.78 for 10ml

OTHER PRODUCTS...

The mascara comes in three colours:

* Absolute black - with a shiny finish (which I have)
* Disco Blue- Irridescent turquoise blue with shimmers
* Brun remix- Dark brown with a hint of gold

There is also an eye liner in 5 colours, whci apparently last for 8 hours and whose pearly colours "vibrate to the rhythmn of fluttering lashes"!

WEBSITE...

The website, www.volumeclubbing.co.uk is definitely going for the "funky" look. Not only is there info about the mascara and liner but also information about clubs, and some thumping music going on (you can select different music!).

VERDICT...

The mascara is a very intense black and does build volume but unfortunately, I found that it didn't deliver some of the things I look for in a mascara. Whilst it does last and last, this makes it tricky to remove, and it does tend to clump lashes together.

For me, this is an average mascara and not one which i would chose as a favourite or a "must have".

I would recommend it for anyone wanting a mascara which is long lasting and a really intense colour but not for anyone wanting a lash seperating mascara.

Thanks for reading.
