A good support bandage from Tesco

Three weeks ago I twisted my ankle coming down the stairs one evening. My husband Mark went to Tesco to see if he could get an ankle support or something similar. They had no ankle supports ot tubi grip on the shelf so he came back with their Latex Cohesive Bandage. To be honest I didn't like the look of it at all but I needed something to support my ankle and gave it a try.

The bandage comes in simple packaging, just a cellophane wrapper with a label wrapped around it. The label is green and white and has the Tesco logo at the top. It also informs the customer that this is a latex cohesive bandage and shows a picture of it being worn around a knee. The bandage size is given as 4.5 metres x 7.5cm's, this is when the bandage is stretched.
The label also states that the bandage will give superior support and stick to itself, it can be used for strains, sprains and sports use, it also states that the bandage is soft and flexible. I was dubious about the "soft" description as in the packaging the bandage looked quite rough.
The rest of the label is taken up with the directions for use and a few warnings which are standard for this type of product. The label gives no washing instructions.

On opening the bandage I was surprised that it did indeed feel a lot softer than I was expecting, it feels slightly spongy and is quite stretchy. The colour of it isn't so good though, its quite a dark blue, I would prefer something much lighter that doesn't look so obvious. The bandage is wrapped around a cardboard roll just like a toilet roll is.

I wrapped my ankle up with the bandage making sure I was overlapping it by half the width of the bandage each time and stretching it slightly. I didn't need the whole bandage so I just cut it with scissors when I had enough around my ankle. The good thing about this is that it sticks to itself, you don't have to worry about it moving and slipping once you have it on. I also found that although the directions advise that you need to secure the bandage with tape I found I didn't need to, the bandage just stuck to itself and stayed securely in position all day.

I found the Latex Cohesive Bandage worked well, it supported my ankle very well, it didn't slip at all, the bandage, despite looking rough, was in fact very comfortable to wear, it wasn't rough against my skin at all. I wore the bandage for 2 days and the second day it was just as "sticky" as it was the day before, the end of the bandage still stayed secure without any tape.

I would have no hesitation in recommending this bandage, if you have a sprain or need support for doing nay sports then this is ideal, it certainly supported my ankle. The only down side for me, and its a minor thing is the colour. The Latex Cohesive Bandage cost £3.45 and for me it has been worth every penny.
