Advantages: Nut dispenser, delay timer, 68 settigns, programmable memory, simple . large loaves, great loaves

Disadvantages: dodgy paintwork

As a couple, we first bough out Antony Worrall Thompson Breville Br8 Bread Machine almost 2 years ago, bought for my wife, but used by both of us. This was to replace a not-so-good Murphy Richards machine which made yeasty bread and misshaped loaves.

The Br8 was getting mixed reviews at the time, some good and some bad, but it was the top-of-the-range model, which of course meant pricey (at around £100-£120), but look at it, it was shiny and very pretty, it must be good!

So it was bought, and bought it was even though I was admittedly very unsure how much use this thing got, I mean, for a family of four, how was my wife going to make enough bread to feed us all? So as I do with anything I doubt the rest of the family will use, I kept the receipt just in case, but I will tell you know, that receipt has long since been binned...

Let me give you a rundown of the features:

-68 Baking and Kneading options: Ok, it’s a bread machine, so it makes bread yes? Well, yes, breads and pizzas and jams and cakes... options that allow you to choose crust colour (light, medium or dark), size (750g, 1kg, 1.25kg), and a plethora of other options!

-Rapid Bake: Forgot to put the loaf on the night before? Need a little bread for some soup? Well, the Br8 even has a turbo setting that allows u to cook a small loaf in as little as 2 hours!

-Delay timer, and keep warm: Going out? Want fresh bread when u come back or when you wake up? Like to eat your bread still warm and toasty? Well you can make use of the delay timer to start the bread cooking up to 15 hours after you turned the machine on! Or just leave the loaf in the machine with the keep warm feature running, giving you fresh bread at any time in the day!

-Fruit and Nut dispenser: A fruitcake fan? Well add the fruit to the fruit and nut dispenser and it will evenly distribute it throughout the kneading process, so no longer do you have crushed nuts =P

-Simplicity: That's right, it is simple, brilliant for the wife as in my case, simple 3 or four step process, select what you want to bake, and then maybe some little options like size and crust then baddabing baddaboom, its kneading away.... oh yeah and remember to add the ingredients (unlike me once...)

OK, theres the sales pitch for Beeville (I think I should get commission for this!) but any way the reason I’m spreading the word about this machine is because in my opinion, it is one of the best. Loaf after loaf is nothing but perfection, and we make 2-3 loaves a day, and its seen over 600 loaves all together! And not a single quarrel!

Well, one little quarrel I guess, and that was that the pain cracked and chipped off within a month, making it an ugly little thing, which meant when we did up the kitchen, we wanted to buy a new machine, you know, to go with the looks, so guess what we bought... a Beeville AWT Br8! Talk about keeping to what you know!

Summary: really worht buying if you want a good breadmaker and lvoe your bread!

I bought the ATW BR8 after having a panasonic for many years. I mainly use the french bread programme and have not had 1 succsesful loaf from the breville. The panasonic however produced fantastic bread every time

A handy review here but you could add more details as to what is washable and if it is easy/difficult to clean the parts as well.
