Advantages: Homemade warm bread, anytime
Disadvantages: Kneading blade can get baked into the bread :/ and have rip it out.
I finally decided to take the plunge and buy a breadmaker although being on a tight budget felt this one was very reasonable for the money, sub £30 mark.
Bit overwhelmed at first but found it very easy to set up and get started, seeing as it comes with a seperate book for instructions and then one for all those yummy recipes, there is loads of varieties and in this model you can even make cakes and jams with it although I have never tried this yet.
So got all my ingredients in and decided to give it a whirl. so far I have only made basic bread and french bread. French bread setting I thought was foul, but the basic has always come good for me. It has the recipe for white but if you substitute the white flour for wholemeal flour, omit the dried milk powder and take about 30g off the flour amount it comes good as a wholemeal loaf.
It takes plenty of playing around with, using various ingredients, using less or more than is stated etc, sometimes the kneading blade gets stuck in the bread, and I'm still learning which recipes work best for me, some rise properly and some dont, but it is a great tool and very recommended.
Summary: Saving money, bread on demand, it's a beautiful thing!
