Advantages: Small

Disadvantages: Poor performance

Having compared the specifications for a number of breadmaking machines, Kenwood, Morphy Richards and Panasonic I bought the new Kenwood. It was smaller and looked better than the others and there was a free Kenwood electric carving knife thrown in.

Having tried a variety of ingredients and programs, following the recipes precisely, none of the five loaves it produced was acceptable. They all had a rough appearance and collapsed during baking.

I followed all of the advice but to no avail. I can only conclude that the machine was faulty and after a week took it back to the store where I bought it.

At my request the store changed it for a Panasonic SD 251 which has produced perfect loaves using the same ingredients that failed so dismally on the Kenwood.

The Panasonic was £9 more expensive but worth it.
