Advantages: see op

Disadvantages: none

I have read a lot of opinions lately relating to bread markers. I must admit that it was down to you lot that I was persuaded to purchase one, after reading such great reviews on this great invention. This particular model number is 48260, so here goes on my personal opinion.

I was visiting my local factory shop, which is a department store which sells top brand names at cheap prices, some of you may not of heard of it, but I did do an opinion about it some while back. Anyway, I noticed that they had this Morphy Richards Breadmaker for only £29.99, so I just had to buy it. This was about a month ago and has been in constant use ever since. Waking to the smell of homemade bread is a truly pleasent experience.

DESCRIPTION:

It is white and has a viewing window inserted into the lid. It measures 14 inches in length, 9 inches wide and 12 inches high. It is easier to keep out on your worktop, rather than find a space in a cupboard. It has vents at the back and sides of the machine and one on the back of the lid. There is a baking pan, which is coated with non-stick surface; it also has a wire handle and a rotating shaft fitted to the bottom, which the kneading blade fixes on to. You actually get two blades with the machine. The top right hand side on the machine is where the control panel is located, it has a built in computer memory, so the buttons are all touch control, which is very easy to use.

It has a display window, which shows the bake time countdown, which is illuminated, in bright red digits. It has a setting button which programs the particular one you want to use and will highlight a small bright green circle light next to your chosen setting. There is also a timer button that has up and down arrows to set the time for a delay bake function. Lastly you have a choice of crust colour button medium, dark or light. This machine also comes with a measuring cup and spoon that are made of plastic.

SETTINGS AND FUNCTIO
NS:

Basic White – This is the most used program, the breadmaker kneads the dough three times and will beep during the second kneading in order to allow you to add any additional ingredients. It takes 3 hours to complete.

Quick – This is for white and mixed bread and takes about 2 hours and 20 minutes to bake.

French – The machine only kneads this twice, as it has a longer rising time and bakes longer to produce a thicker crust. Baking time 3 hours and 50 minutes.

Cake – You can use this for any recipes using baking powder, it stirs once then bakes the mixture. Cooking time is 1 hour and 50 minutes.

Wholemeal/wholewheat – This flour has a dense texture and so the machine only kneads it twice and it takes longer than a white loaf. 3 hours and 40 minutes.

Dough – You can use this for your preparation of different types of dough, which are then cooked in a conventional oven. For instance hot cross buns, doughnuts.

Extra Bake – you can use this at the end of normal baking to produce a crispier crust.

EASE OF USE:

The instruction manual is very easy to follow as it also contains diagrams. This machine bakes a one and a half pound loaf, which is plenty, as no preservatives are used in any of the recipes, so therefore it needs to be eaten up within three days. All you need to do is take out the baking pan, which twists off the spindle on the base of the machine. You then add all the ingredients one by one in the order laid out in the recipes, using their cup and spoon for measuring. Then place the baking pan back into the machine and twist to lock it in place, it’s as simple as that. Then set your program and hey presto you will soon be enjoying a lovely treat. Once the bread is cooked the machine bleeps to let you know and automatically switches off, you then have to remove it straight away, by taking the bread pan out and turning i
t upside down. A slight tap is all that is needed for the loaf to fall out. You must leave it to cool for at least 20 minutes before trying to cut a slice. Sometimes the kneading blade gets stuck in the bottom of the pan, but is easily removed by running it under the hot tap. The baking pan its self is very easy to clean, which is great.

MY VIEW:

I am very pleased indeed with my machine, it is so simply to use and gives perfect results every time, it was well worth its money. I have found that it has saved me money on buying freshly cooked loaves as well, as I have worked out that a bag of strong bread flour costs around 95p, which makes five loaves. I have also made a malt loaf, chocolate bread, banana cake, and doughnuts, which have all turned out wonderfully. My next task will be to make some hot cross buns, especially with Easter just around the corner and also make some pizza dough. There are actually 19 bread recipes, 8 dough recipes and 4 cake ones in the instruction manual. Also included in the manual are some questions and answers and a trouble shooting section at the back, which is very useful. I forgot to mention that you get a 2-year guarantee with this model, which is pretty good. I would certainly recommend this to all of my friends as it does the job well. My final words would be that it is a sophisticated piece of equipment and every kitchen should have one.

Thanks for reading cinystar
