Advantages: Fresh bread whenever you like!

Disadvantages: None!

I've had a Morphy Richards 'Fastbake' bread maker for about a year or so now and have had nothing but compliments on my wonderful bread making 'skills'!

This bread maker will produces 1 pound, 1.5 pound and 2 pound loaves and you can now get packets of bread mix from supermarkets making it incredibly easy to rustle up a nice fresh loaf of bread - all you do is empty the packet into the machine along with the specified amount of warm water and away you go!

It couldn't be easier to operate the machine (although an instruction booklet is provided). There is a removable loaf tin, which you twist to remove. Ensure this is secure in the machine and tip in your dry ingredients followed by the amount of warm water specified in your recipe. Select the program you require - the program titles are self-explanatory but if you are unsure you can refer to the instruction book - hit the start button and in a few hours you'll have the smell of fresh bread wafting through your house.

You don't just have to stick to a plain old loaf either. The bread maker comes with a recipe book for you experiment with and the different program settings mean you could be turning out cakes, buns, jam, French bread, fresh pizzas, rolls and fruit bread. Among it's other features is a delay timer - handy if you want fresh bread for breakfast as you can set it to start a few hours before you get up.

I've tried out numerous plain bread recipes and quite a few of the fancier recipes too and have had great results on all of them. The only thing I'd mention is is helps to put in very slightly less water than packet bread mixes specify, as the loaves tend to come out a bit moist. I'd also recommend turning to loaf out onto a wire cooling rack as soon as it's cooked and leaving it to cool down until it's almost cold before cutting it as the bread tends to cut easier and to be less 'doughy' if you do this.

I use my bread maker on a fairly regular basis and have had no problems with it. The instruction booklet does come with a customer care number and address for you to contact is you do run tin to any problems - if I ever have cause to contact them I'll update this review!

This bread maker is available from places like Currys and Comet, but the cheapest I have seen it for is Amazon at £39.99.

Summary: If you like bread, this is the appliance for you!

I have a very simlar one - got it for my brithday the other year after a lot of heavy hint dropping - it is great fun although I don't use it a lot as we are not huge bread eaters, but when I do the loaf disappears very rapidly, certain friends are capable of wolfing the whole lot on their own if I don't keep an eye on them!

Now this is a more honest review and beneficial to anyone in the market looking for a compact and cheap bread maker.

I always think that by the time you've made it, electric etc then you may as well have bought a loaf
