Advantages: Does exactly what it says on the label.

Disadvantages: None at all.

This is a "bread and butter" type review, on the 500 watts Morphy Richards breadmaker, model number 48280, also known as the "Fastbake", I have had one of these for about two years now, and get wonderful results.

When I say "bread" I also mean many different types of bread, softgrain, white and brown, Italian herb bread, hot cross buns, pizza bases, fruit cakes, cheese & onion bread, raisen bread, sun-dried tomato loaf, and malt loaf, because the machine does them all. It's also supposed to make jam and even marmalades, but as yet I have yet to try this facility.

This breadmaker comes with everything you need apart from the ingredients, you even get measuring cups, and the instructions are first class. They even provide a decent recipe booklet, pity it isn't wipe clean.

This machine is small enough to go onto a worktop, as well as into a cupboard, and weighs 8 kilogrammes, it's light enough for a woman to lift. The outside of this machine, is always cool, so no burns for you or the kids. My bread maker is white, but these are also available in mushroom.

I recommend cleaning the breadmaker before use, as there seems to be a build up of dust in modern appliances. As for cleaning, there is no need to use scouring pads, as the kit is easy clean and non stick.

I shall leave out the actual method, as this is explained in the instructions, this also varies with the type of bread being made.

The machine can make two sizes of loaf, one & a half, and two Pounds. The option is also there to make plum bread and the like, and there is a facility for this machine to beep when it's time to add fruit & nuts. it also has a "crust colour" control. The breadpan - which is non stick remember, holds 450 - 900 grammes of dough.

There is a display window, which shows all you need to know, including time left to completion, along with everything else, it is also easy to keep clean.

There is a time delay function, so you can set the machne to start in the early hours, or while you are at work. There is also a fastbake position, giving you a loaf of bread in just one hour!
This machine can be bought for £34.99 from Amazon.

I can't comment on the after sales service, because I have never had the need to use it. This machine looks like it wil go on for ever.

Great review! As the switch on my current breadmaker is starting to play up, I'm in the market for a new one and I like the sound of this one. It looks cool, too!

Sounds like a great purchase - regardless of testing other ovens. Hard to find a new Panasonic oven at £35!
