I love bread, and what better than your own home made bread. This bread machine is absolutely perfect. I have had great results every time. I have used the packets from the supermarket with perfect results and having bought myself a recipie book for bread making in a machine have made from scratch. Again with perfect results.
Machine is easy to use with good instruction book with clear and easy to follow details. Also easy to clean afterwards which is important, and easy wipe clean on the outside.
Machine has an array of functions and particularly like the timer facility as it means you can either wake up with the smell of bread and have fresh bread for breakfast. Or come home after work to the lovely aroma of cooked bread, with delicious bread for supper.
quantity of bread this makes is sufficient for me/ my family as makes a nice sized loaf. Definitely recommend
I had been considering buying a bread maker for quite some time but kept putting it off as I worried I would not use it very often. So for my birthday I asked my partner to buy this Panasonic bread maker for me. I looked at reviews online for several different makes first and this bread maker came up time and time again as a reliable and easy to use machine. It is not the cheapest machine available but not the most expensive either. I can honestly say I could not be happier with it! It is very simple to use and easy to clean. The rapid function allows you to make a loaf of bread in just under 2 hours. The optional time delay means you can add the ingredients the night before and have fresh bread warm and ready when you wake up in the morning. I have been using this machine EVERY day! I wish I had bought it sooner. I have found the bread maker to be extremely reliable and has produced a perfect loaf every single time. The choice of crust is very useful (light, medium and dark). I have experimented with some of the other settings (wholemeal, cheese loaf etc) and I am pleased with them all so far. I am yet to try the Jam settings but I have no doubt they will work as well as the bread.
I would say the only slight negative would be the hole left in the bottom of the loaf of bread because of the kneading blade, but this is to be expected with most bread makers and does not take away from the overall enjoyment of the machine.
I've had several brands of breadmaker before but this one really is so much better than the rest considering the price. I was reluctant to spend a fortune on the more advanced ones when all I really needed was something that mixed dough for me - preferably mixed it very well. After a reasonably extensive search on various review sites we settled on the Panasonic and the SD2500WXC was in the price range I was prepared to spend.
Long and narrow design makes it ideal for slotting into a smaller space if your kitchen has reduced work surface area. It has a large lid area making it easy to clean inside - very useful for when you forget about it and the bread rises madly inside (or is that just me?). Press button controls with a handy menu reminder on the front. You do have to scroll through all the numbers to find the one you want (minor gripe). Seemingly standard on all machines are the three crust variations, size of finished loaf, independent time control and stop button.
Comes with fairly straight forward instruction manual and recipe book. I mostly use it on the mixing function only as rolls are easier for lunches, so don't tend to use the full baking option - that and when tried although the paddle came away smoothly I still hate the hole in the loaf it leaves. Have tried several of the recipes on offer in the book (do read through carefully as there are two makes of breadmaker listed - get the right one!) and have had good results, small tweaks here and there to get it how we like it, but apart form that really good bread made. Have not explored the other options (jam etc) as prefer to do that the traditional way and I do tend to make larger quantities than would be viable in the bread pan.
I believe this machine has now been superseded as when I went to look for this model I could not find it anywhere on the internet. The reason I wanted to find it is that friends of ours have this model and they made some bread in it when we went to stay for a couple of days between Xmas and New Year. Having previously had two bread makers, both cheap ones, the quality of the bread from the Panasonic was no comparison. The bread is so soft and light and so gorgeous to eat, I defy you not to enjoy it or be so impressed that you want one. The experience promoted us to buy the SD2500 and this arrived on Friday, superb service from Hughes Direct and at a price of £84.99 which seemed to be the cheapest I could find it for. The results of the first loaf are fantastic, just like what we experienced at our friends! So much so the loaf went very quickly. Makes wonderful toast too! Quite a compact model too, my wife was surprised how small it was but do not let that fool you, don't hesitate, ditch the rest get a Panasonic today! We are converted!
I have been moaning (a lot, apparently) about the cost of everyday food recently - so to my suprise, a friend bought me a bread maker.
I thought that bread makers were for retired people who had a lot of time on their hands, and had the life experience/knowledge to make decent bread, but to my amazement I have been able to produce quite a decent 'loaf' from this, with very little effort. I even added some fruit to my last effort, and again was pleased with the result.
It comes with three different sizes of bread pan, though I have mainly used the large pan as my daughter likes feeding the ducks with any leftovers and it is still a lot cheaper (as well as tastier) than buying supermarket bread. The two other sizes do give you the option though. The overall size is not too large (H37 x W28 x D33cm) so it fits under cabinets quite easily.
Speed wise, there are nine different settings, including a rapid bake, which I've only used once, but was satisfied with the outcome. It also has the usual timer option, so you can set it to work, even when you're asleep - I sleep above our kitchen and heard nothing, so that's a good thing too.
I have had no problems with my bread sticking to the tin, unlike my mother, who is constantly complaining that her (different brand) maker suffers in that regard. Aparently (if you read the specification) it has a kneading blade that is coated with diamond particles - which obviously helps, along with the non-stick pan itself which is unique to Panasonic
I did find the jam maker a little confusing at first - my jam was more like sugar water the first few times, but (when I read the manual) it all became clearer. In fact, the instruction manual does deserve a mention, because it also contains several useful recipes/ideas.
It is a little bit more expensive than some bread makers, but I have found that panasonic goods (in general) tend to last longer, but givien I've only had this for a month or so, I cannot really comment on it's durability.
All in all then, as far as a bread maker is concerned, this seems to be a good one - I think my mum is looking for offers on one as I type this having proclaimed 'this is a far nicer loaf than the ones I produce' - I, of course, claimed it was all in the recipe...
