Advantages: fresh bread every day, fruit and nut dispenser, timer with memory

Disadvantages: none I can think of

First off, I am going to tell you I do not own this machine. The second thing I am going to admit to is the machine I am describing is actually the newer model, the 253. My father in law purchased one of these for my mother in law for Christmas, where we spent the holidays. I have since benefited several times from this machine as we spend time over at their home. I have to say, I want this machine. It inspires must have type lust in me everytime I eat a piece of bread from it, or wake up and smell the deliciously sensous scent of baking bread wafting through the house. LOL

These breadmakers retail for between £100-£105 at various retailers. Occasionally they are on offer for £85 to £95 new. I was there as the box was opened, and it was well packed without all sorts of little biddly foam bits everywhere. It did not feature a viewing window, but in the manual it explained that this was to keep the heat evenly distributed, and should you need to, you could always pop the lid open to have a check, or to add in any fruits/nuts you may have forgotten to place in the dispenser. Yup, a dispenser. This is a little drawer you can place fruit, nuts, etc. in and when it is time in the programmed cycle to add them, it empties them into the pan and kneads them in. No forgetting you set a programme that needs to beep for you to add sultanas and you missed it while out at the shops.

The pan is easy to install and remove, though please use caution and use mitts as the pan gets VERY hot. Occasionally the paddle leaves a paddle shaped narrow hole in the loaf, but this can be minimised by letting the bread cool longer before trying to remove it from the pan. The holes are not large enough in general to affect bread slicing and usage in any way. Oh yes, the pan is simple to clean, mostly needing just a good wipe. It also came out way ahead of all other breadmakers in the Good Housekeeping tests for performance, which is why he splurged on this model!

The

machine also comes with a very comprehensive and easy to understand booklet with instructions, tips, and loads and loads of recipes. My in laws prefer whole meal bread and their bread comes out lovely without the heaviness characteristic of many wholemeal breadmaker produced loaves. It takes less than 10 minutes to load in the ingredients for white or wholemeal loaves and set the programme, even for the first time ever. If you lose power and it comes back on, the machine recalls the preset programme and resets itself. This means every morning without fail they wake up to the smell of fresh bread. Life is so unfair.....WAHHHHHHH...I want one now! I have been so impressed I have been literally haunting ebay to purchase either this or a similiar Panasonic breadmaker, but unfortunately have been out bid each time. Oh honey, guess what I need and want for Mother's Day, and you can buy at Comet, or Argos... ...

Nice op ;) We had a breadmaker for some time but eventually we managed to wear it out. Mr delawney's got very good at making bread from scratch since then (yum!).
