“ Brand: Aldi / Type: Cereal „
I always eat breakfast through needing to. I go the gym most days and if I skip breakfast not only do I feel that I under perform but also I feel hungry and want to pick at food all day long, like my body is trying to catch up missing a meal or something lol.
Now I love Weetabix and eat that rather a lot. However cos I eat a huge amount of cereal my Mother decided to try me out on a cheaper, stores own brand version and that was this costing about £1.29 a box in Aldi.
Very large flattish bright yellow, square box and the front of it there is a photograph of wheat and the wheat biscuits. I'm told that they are Harvest Morn Wheat Bisks '36 Whole Wheat Cereal Biscuits' and that they are low in fat, fortified with vitamins & iron, high in fibre and made from wholegrain wheat. I'm also told they are suitable for Vegetarians and there is an at a glance nutritional chart on there too. Other information on the box includes being told a bit abut the product and suggestions for use, ingredients and allergy advice is given, I'm told how to store them and contact details for Aldi are given. Inside the biscuits are stored in 4 handy white plastic packs that are easy to open and great for keeping a product of this size fresh.
A Bit About The Product According To The Box:
They say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so why not start your day 'the harvest morn way'. With our nutritious tasty breakfast cereals, give your body the kick start it deserves.
Wheat bisks are a great way to begin the day or as a nutritious snack. 1 serving contains 32% of the recommended daily allowance of 4 key vitamins and iron. People with a healthy heart tend to eat more whole grain foods as part of a healthy diet and lifestyle. Why not try them with fresh raspberries and blackberries for natural sweetness.
The Wheat bisks:
Rough and brown coloured, reasonably fat and sort of oval in shape and if your familiar with a Weetabix it looks very much the same as that really. Not too flaky to handle though which is a goo point!
The problem with these is when milk is added to them. They go to mush immediately with no body and are just a soggy mess with no bite to them at all. For me this is really off putting, a bowl of dark smooth looking sludge!
However taste wise (if you set aside the face your faced with a bowl of sludge!) they taste ok. Smooth as I have mentioned already like a paste and they are slightly malty, wheaty, well seasoned and naturally sweet.
The actual taste is ok enough though not like Weetabix really. They lack quality and have no substance to them at all. Filling? Not really no. I find these boring, taste okish but the way they melt under the pressure of milk is just so sub standard quality it's unreal. Not recommended from me these!
Contains: Wheat, barley and gluten.
