“ Brand: Doves Farm / Type: Flakes „
Just recently I went through some allergy testing. Surprisingly it turns out I'm actually allergic to a few things and intolerant to many things and all. I didn't ever realise this and put down my headaches, tiredness, moodiness and hefty migraine attacks simply down to just not living the way I should be according to my Mother!
Deciding to give the regime I was advised about a go I soon came to realise that breakfasts were going to be an issue for me and me...well I just love a bowl of cereal and toast and suddenly this was majorly under threat seeming as some of the foods I was advised to stay clear from (for now at least) was anything with wheat, soya or gluten within it (as well as a few other things!).
So off I went to Asda to see what they had on offer when I spotted these Doves Farm Corn Flakes.
The box is beige in colour with a photograph of the corn flakes on the front of it and we are told of course that they are Doves Farm 'Organic', Gluten Free Corn Flakes 'Low In Fat and that they are suitable for Vegans and made without all the things I mentioned previously and without hydrogenated fat too. Other information stated on the box includes being told a bit about the product, ingredients and allergy advice is given, there is a nutritional chart shown, the weight of the flakes is stated which is 375g and contact details for Doves Farm are given. Nice enough, informative box this is and inside the corn flakes are within a see throughish bag.
The Corn Flakes:
Made from Maize, rice malt and salt these look basically like crispy small golden coloured cornflakes. Now if you compare these to say Kelloggs corn flakes, yep they are smaller and do appear thinner in texture.
When met with milk (or any milk substitute) they don't go too soggy and I love these with coconut milk as I am also intolerant to dairy products and to me these taste really like corn flakes and rather malty. I like the texture of these and the fact they are not too greasy or anything and yep they fill my tummy too.
For me these are a lighter approach to breakfast and taste really nice n fresh and I love the crispness of them and the fact they don't turn to slush in a bowl in seconds is also a bonus. However I do think they are a little overpriced for what they are considering they have so much taken out of them lol.
Nice enough breakfast though and a great alternative to Kelloggs and the likes!
