Advantages: Satisfies craving for sweet things, stays crunchy with milk

Disadvantages: May be too sweet for some people

In my quest to shed a few pounds after the crimbo chocolate has finally been devoured I decided it was time to start eating a proper breakfast each day. I do like a sweet cereal and according to my sister who is a weight watchers leader, this is a good low calorie cereal if you need a sugary tasting one.

Currently costing £1.92 for 500g at tesco it comes packaged in a large yellow box with the words CRUNCHY NUT in large black lettering above a picture of the cereal . It is extremely eye catching tho most of us will know what the boxes look like due to the adverts that seem to be on our tv's on a regualr basis.

A brief background

Made by kellogs which was set up by a gentleman called William Keith Kellogg in America during the later part of the 1800s. They produced the now world famous cornflakes. They tested out various different cereals and when crunchy nut was released it was an instant success.

A small bowl (30g of cereal and 125ml semi skimmed milk) works out at 175 calories and 1.5g saturated fats - of course this is lower if you use skimmed milk. If this isnt filling enough try adding some fruit to it - I have added a small banana to it and this may sound grim but it is actually really nice - to me anyway!

The taste

Each cornflake is coated in honey and nuts - they dont tend to go soggy as quickly as ordinary cornflakes and really do crunch. They are quite sweet and very nutty - basically a nice tasty breakfast - the taste of the cornflake and nuts do seem to overpower any honey tho.

I will be sticking to these for the time being as they satisfy my sweet tooth without me actually over indulging!

Summary: A good start to the day
