I adore pop tarts, and if I could get away with it I would eat them for every meal of the day.
Pop tarts can be found in most supermarkets, usually amongst the cereals. Supermarket selection however can be very limited, so I sometimes order online to get a bigger choice. They come in a bright blue box with a yummy looking pop tart picture on the front - got to appeal to the kids, right? These cost about £2.50 and there are eight pop tarts in a box - four foil packets, each containing two tarts. Two is the appropriate amount as one just isn't enough, and any more than two and you're feeling seriously guilty about the high amount of calories and fat you've just consumed. At over 200 calories per pop tart these can mount the calories pretty quickly.
The Pop Tarts themselves are rectangular in shape, the pastry on the outside (after being toasted - only needs a minute or so) is crisp and the chocolate on the inside is gooey and delicious. Just be careful it's not too hot or you'll burn your tongue! It's also really easy to burn your fingers taking them out of the toaster be careful. I sometimes eat these without toasting them, still tasty and less dangerous. I could do without the frosting on the top of these, it's pretty unnecessary. I will say that these are not meant for people who do not have a sweet tooth. They can become sickly very quickly (*heh*) even for the most practised sweet eaters.
In summary, these are scrummy treats and should not be eaten everyday, as much as I'd love a metabolism that could cope with that. Maybe make them your Friday breakfast, or even Monday - what a nice start to the week.
Summary: A great occasional treat
