“ Brand: Quaker / Type: Cereal „
My mate spent Xmas in Ireland with her family and when she got back last night she came round to see us with some soda bread that my mum had asked her to get, she also brought me a box of Banana Sugar Puffs because she knows I love trying her things and we didn't even know these existed! They are basically Sugar Puffs only flavoured with banana instead of the normal sugary coffee flavour. They look very similar but she said they are a good bit more expensive than the normal Sugar Puffs, but in Southern Ireland most of their food is dearer than here in England so I don't think that gives you a very accurate idea of the price of them. They are a mega sweet cereal and have got a lovely banana milkshake flavour. They don't seem quite as crispy as the normal ones but have still got that yummy sugary feel to the outside of them. The texture feels a bit puffier and that goes nice with the banana taste, these Sugar Puffs don't taste like proper bananas to me but they have got the same sort of flavour as those foam banana sweets you can buy. The texture goes soft in the milk but one thing I've always liked about Sugar Puffs is that they don't go majorly soggy when you put the milk on. You have to eat these ones a bit quick though because they do go softer a bit quicker, I'm used to eating some cereals quick before they go soggy though so it doesn't matter to me! lol I think these are very filling considering how light they are and even though they're sweet it's not like eating a bag of Haribo for breakfast, I had a box of Morrisons cereal recently and it was sooooooo sweet that no way could I eat it in the morning! This one is fine though because the sugary taste isn't too in your face and is actually proper tasty. Recommended if you can find them.
When I see something and it has a LIMITED EDITION label on it then I nearly always have to buy and try. So when I saw these BANANA PUFFS, I had to stand and really think about these, as no one in my household like Sugar Puffs so would these go down well? I was in my local Wilkinson of all places when I saw these on sale, they were on promotion for £1.40 ( I've since found out that Asda are also doing these For £1.) So I took the plunge and purchased them, with them tucked up in my bag I took them home. I thought rather than push them onto my family I would just leave them causally sitting at the back of the breakfast bar for everyone to notice! You can't miss this box as it is bright yellow all over with BANANA PUFFS written it a bright blue and of course the Honey Monster on the front eating a bowl of these puffs holding a banana up to his mouth. It wasn't long before they were spotted sitting there, "Hey whats these ?" ( play it cool as I want them all eaten up and not wasted !) I was asked "Oh just thought I might like them for a change" I say, so I know whats coming next "Can I try some?" So the box was at least opened, when pouring into the bowl they looked exactly like the normal Sugar Puffs ( for those who do not know what a Sugar Puff is, it is a tiny brown glazed wheat puff). They don't seem to be stuck together as much as Sugar Puffs can do, so I grabbed 3 of the little puffs and put them into my mouth. The minute you hit your tongue with them you get a strong banana taste this must be what the shiny glaze is on the top of the puffs! My first thought is of when I was young and you could buy the foamy shape banana sweets from the corner shop and the minute you bit into them it hit you with the taste of banana. I've tried other banana flavoured things over the years , but nothing could compare to those sweets until I tried these puffs and they really do taste the same! I wonder why a lot of people don't like Sugar Puffs maybe they are to sweet, but they have a lot of goodness in them as they are fortified with vitamins and iron, nothing is artificial, they are a source of fibre, they have no added salt and are low in fat. each 30 serving has; ~~~Calories 114~~~ ~~~Sugars 9.9g~~~ ~~~Fat 0.7g~~~ ~~~Saturates 0.2g~~~ ~~~Salt trace~~~ These are also suitable for Vegetarians as well. Each box should have 10 servings (the word serving doesn't exist in my house!). It is a great box for kids as it is so bright and the Honey Monster is so cute. The back of the box has 4 different puzzles for kids to do as well. There is a word search, spot the difference, maze, find how many bananas there are on the box and a few old corny jokes about bananas example; What do you use to open a banana? .....A Monkey ! There is a webpage for kids with a lot more games and jokes on at; honeymonster.co.uk/on.the.pack Well just in case you were interested they went down really well and yesterday I had to ask Hubby to pop into Wilkinsons for me to get some more as I wasn't going out and much to my joy they have come of promotion, because they just weren't selling and they have now gone down to 74p a box. So I now have 4 boxes in the cupboard and will get some more today as son in Uni wants a stack taken up to him. So if you haven't tried them yet then this might be a good time at 74p a box! I'll give these 4 stars as they are not to bad for you and the taste is definitely BANANA!
