Disadvantages: None at all
One thing I always make sure I eat is breakfast, ever since doing Weightwatchers and realising the importance of that meal of the day for me.
However although I always have breakfast it isn't usually a healthy breakfast as such to be honest. I usually have a massive bowl of cereal with full fat milk on it and 2/3 slices of toast with butter and summat on top. After eating this I always still felt hungry and snacked away and as a result of my poor eating habits in general I have gained a few pounds.
The other day I decided enough was enough. I can continue eating poorly and feeling rubbish (I have an under active thyroid which doesn't help with the gaining and losing weight at all much to my dismay) or I can overhaul my diet to things which I know are healthier for me and cut down on portion size. I've even been using my new exercise bike, well I call it new I've had it about 4 months and turned into a clothes and handbag hanger lol.
I started off with Aldi bran flakes which I really liked but the other day I was in Tesco doing my weekly shop and so I picked up these 'Everyday' Value Bran Flakes, they are the same as the previously named Tesco 'Value' product however there is a slight name difference as you can see and the packaging is better looking and with more muted colours than the previous garish ones that screamed cheap as we took them through the checkouts lol.
Well the bran flakes come in a light cream coloured top opening box and are stored within a tear open frosted white plastic bag and on the front and the back of the box we are told that they are Tesco Everyday Bran Flakes and that they have no artificial preservatives, flavours or colours and there is a photograph of a bowl of bran flakes on there too along with some little drawings of milk jugs, spoons and dishes and so on and there is an at a glance nutritional chart shown. Other information on the sides of the box includes ingredients and allergy advice being given as we all a full nutritional chart being shown, the size is stated (this box is 750g in size) and contact details for Tesco are stated. Nice enough packaging this is and its informative enough too.
The Bran Flakes:
Well not only is a 30g portion of these wholewheat flakes tasty, crispy and crunchy they only contain 110 calories and 5.1g of fat (0.7g of that only is saturated fat too!).
They vary in size but are all a decent thickness with a slightly rough texture to them and they have a naturally sweet flavour to them, add liquid to them and they do go slightly soggy though which is a plus for me as I like them best like that lol.
They are brown in colour and don't turn milk a funny colour and of course you have them at any time of the day and in any way you like. Me I always have mine with soya milk nowadays for a nice healthy, filling breakfast and just a small bowl of these keeps me happily going till lunchtime! They may be healthy but they really are a tasty and satisfying breakfast and of superb quality for the price too!
These are available in the size I bought them in (750g) costing only 88p!
Summary: Great and far cheaper than the leading brand!
