... side. It's best to open the bag with scissors to avoid spillage. There isn't much of a chocolaty aroma once the bag is opened, more a distant whiff! The snaps themselves are quite tiny, they look smaller than Coco Pops and are slightly lighter in colour. Although they taste of chocolate, the snaps are not very sweet, I would say they taste more of coco than chocolate - hence the name obviously! There also isn't that much of a 'snap' sound once the milk is poured on but that doesn't seem to effect the crunch - and they st...more

My son is a lover of all things chocolate and cereal is no exception. He doesn't eat it every day, just once or twice a week as part of my attempts at a varied diet. His favourite chocolate cereal is Coco Pops - £2.69 per 550g box (although currently on special offer in Tesco) but as part of the Martin Lewis Downshift Challenge, we managed to move on to Tesco own brand choco pops and have now eventually made the move to their Value range!! Unlike Coco Pops, this cereal is sold in a bag as opposed to a cardboard box. The bag is white in colour with a bowl of coco snaps on the front. The Tesco Value logo is on the upper left side. It's best to open ...  Read the complete review

As stated a few reviews back I started the two week cereal diet, which was very successful for me as I lost 1lb in my first week and my second week I lost 1.5lbs. During my weight loss mission I was very excited by this as for weeks my weight had stayed the same, so now I'm only 5.5lb's off my three stone target! My first week I just stuck to any cereal but only had the serving suggestions which is most cases was 30g. My second week I only had Special K which gave me an extra 0.5lbs weight loss. Tesco's Choco Snaps: 'Toasted crisp rice coated with milk chocolate' Well as you can most probably tell these are the cheaper version of ...  Read the complete review

Tesco Value Coco Snaps: A real competitor for Coco Pops! (275 words)

I have to admit I am normally something of a cereal snob! I like Kelloggs etc and I never eat supermarket own brands, sharing the opinion of most people that they tend to not be very nice, especially supermarket own Cornflakes or Shreddies! However, someone recommended I try these so when I spotted them in my local Tesco at around half the price of Kelloggs Coco Pops I had to give them a go. I must now admit that I actually prefer them to Coco Pops themselves! The thing with Coco Pops is that they make the milk a little too chocolatey for me - by the time I'm getting to the bottom of the bowl it's just all getting a bit sickly. Also, ...  Read the complete review

Step aside Coco the Monkey, Tesco have done it again... (624 words)

For the past few months I have tried to make better choices budget wise when food shopping and have started to try alternatives to the big brand names all with varying degrees of success. Breakfast cereal is one of those essential things that I always buy in and generally I make my choices based on whatever is on offer or whatever takes my fancy. Tesco's Choco Snaps (not Coco Snaps as Dooyoo have called them) are the supermarkets own brand take on Coco Pops and in my local supermarket are situated next to the more expensive big brand. Packaging wise Tesco have adopted the same bright yellow colouring on the box as its counterpart and rather than a monkey ...  Read the complete review

Tesco Value Coco Snaps: Buy Tesco's Coco Snaps To Save Money. (317 words)

I nearly always shop at Tesco. Not out of loyalty but simple because they are nearest. Because of this I have had lots of their value items as I am always keen to try to save money on groceries. Tesco Value Coco Snaps are an own brand equivalent of Kellogg's Coco Pops. The price is what will attract your attention. 66p for a bag (not box) of 375 grams. The same size box of Coco Pops would cost way over £1.50 & even if it was in a special offer the price would still struggle to get down so low. So this is a good start. Opening th bag is no problem, but you probably will need a cereal container to put them in (which will cost extra to start off ...  Read the complete review
