Swiss Style Muesli for 44p for 750gm - a bargain or what?
If I'm going to have muesli I like to see what I'm eating, taste the different fruits and cereals and feel the textures of the various ingredients. This product must be the floor sweepings from the production line of the £1.28 /750gm non-stripy Tesco muesli. Not sure what is Swiss about it.
It's certainly homogenous, as though all the ingredients have gone through the one sieve and then the raisins added afterwards. There is no texture, flavour or taste sensation; altogether most un-appetising, bland, tasteless and odourless. When either cold or hot milk is added it doesn't go too mushy, which is about the only quality to its credit.
It contains Oat Flakes, Sweetened Wholewheat Flakes, Sultanas (9%), Vegetarian Whey Powder, Brown Sugar, Almonds (1%), Hazelnuts(1%), so only the vegetarian whey powder is the un-necessary ingredient. Quite good for you with only 17.4% sugar and 6.9% fibre. I found it filling but then it sat on my stomach like gruel. It's suitable for vegetarians though not vegans. Interestingly it doesn't claim to contain all the usual minerals that most cereals gush about.
I wouldn't try this as an introduction to those you want to encourage a healthier breakfast option; it may well put them off.
