Advantages: Nice slightly bitter chocolate taste, keeps me full till lunch time.
Disadvantages: High RRP
I was given a couple of boxes of these just after Christmas as my sister had bought far too many for her own needs. The RRP on these boxes is £2.69, which for 24 Weetabix seems a bit much, but then I am used to the value brands prices.
The box they come in is brown and yellow in colour and on the front it features the highly recognisable Weetabix logo and a bowl containing 2 Weetabix and milk. On the sides there is all the nutritional information, ingredients and details about the cereal. The rear of the box contains some information on the better parts of the cereal. Each box measures 25cm x 19cm x 5cm and contains 2 packs of 12 wrapped Weetabix (24 in total). Each biscuit measures 5cm x 9cm x 2cm and is made of Wheat and Chocolate amongst other ingredients.
On first opening the pack, each biscuit is a lot browner in colour compared to a normal Weetabix, which reflects the chocolate flavour. On the surface and through each biscuit there are multiple chocolate drops which look quite appatising. Before adding milk, they are very dry, but after milk has been added, they start to become soggier quite quickly, which makes them very easy to eat if you are in a hurry.
Normally I am quite sceptical when it comes to chocolate in cereals as I think it is an unnecessary addition to the morning meal that isn't needed. I therefore normally avoid chocolate cereals where possible and stick to plain cereals. At first with these I found the taste a little strange as it is quite different to normal Weetabix, but after a while I started to get used to the taste. It is not a sweet chocolate taste that you would normally associate with other chocolate cereals, but it is slightly bitter, which I believe makes it nicer. On eating the cereal, there are the small chocolate chips that stay solid in the milk. This means that when eating you get the little bits of hard chocolate mixed in with the partially soggy cereal. Like other chocolate cereals, it does leave your milk a brown colour which isn't a problem at all.
Would I buy these again? At the RRP price I wouldn't as I can't justify it and personally I still prefer plain cereals. I do still have another box to eat, so if they do come on offer again after I have finished that box then I could be tempted to buy a box as they do make a nice change from normal Weetabix/Corn Flakes.
I will have to give these 4/5 as they surprised me in there taste a bit.
Thanks for reading.
