Weetabix The Whole Grain Cereal
Advantages: Filling, full of vitamins and iron and good value for money
Disadvantages: a pain if it is spilt on clothes
Baby breakfast can work out expensive after a while and having a house full of children and two adults to feed saving money is a big chore for me. I have found that plain breakfasts for my daughter are not suitable for her. We have tried porridge due to it is smooth and even the flavoured ones but she will not eat those either. I decided that I would buy some weetabix due to my son and older daughter used to eat this when I stated them on my own food.
This is a healthy breakfast that is made from wheat. It is made in England which I like due to I like to buy British produce. They have been creating breakfast cereals since 1932 which gives me some reassurance that they are doing something right to still be making cereals now. It is low in fat, low in sugar, high in fibre and is wholegrain all these factors are good due to my baby is the one that is eating the most of this. It contains a lot of vital vitamins that my daughter needs to develop which I like due to the baby cereals hold everything that she needs and I need to ensure that she is getting it all when I do not feed her this. It holds Thiamine, Riboflavin, Niacin, folic acid and iron. These vitamins are in the baby breakfasts so I have found that this is the closest to the baby breakfasts that I can find.
I use one of these biscuits which is plenty for my daughter to eat in a morning and I soften this with water that makes it easy for her to swallow you can also soften this down with the baby milk if you want to give them some added vitamins with this. I have found this fills my daughter very well and once it is softened it is very smooth and no lumps are formed which means she enjoys it. When she gets older I will add a yoghurt to it like I did with my other children to give some added flavour and some calcium. I have added a bit of banana to give her a change on some mornings. I have noticed that she will eat this with no problem and gets very excited when I come in the room with it.
I like to have weetabix too. I like to eat mine with warm milk and some sugar. My son likes his with some sliced banana and my older daughter likes hers with cold milk and some sugar. This is a very versatile breakfast that you are able to add a lot too. You can add any fruits that you like with it, you can use hot or cold milk and even add yoghurt or honey. I really enjoy eating this in the cold months and find it very filling and a good start to my day and nice before I go to bed as supper. My children like to adapt this and I have found that it keeps them full for a long period of time.
A box of this for 24 biscuits will last us a week and costs almost £3 in my local shop. I find this good value for money for what the cereal provides for my children and this is also available in smaller boxes and bigger ones too. You are sometimes able to find the boxes on a special deal in some stores and is worth buying on a special deal. I do buy this when it is at normal price because it is eaten a lot in our house and none is wasted.
The only down side that I have to this is that if it is spilt on clothes which by my children it is, then it is very hard to get out because it sets like concrete so I have started to soak the clothes to try and loosen it to remove it when washed. This is a healthy breakfast that is good for all and very filling, it is good value for money and advised to eat and try your own additions to make it tastier for yourself.
Summary: The best start to your childrens day and your own
