Advantages: Health benefits, filling, mixes well with other things

Disadvantages: The plastic packing

Some scientists report that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so it is important that everyone in the house makes the most of this and enjoys the meal; but it isn't always that easy. We buy Coco Pops, someone doesn't like them. We buy Bran Flakes, someone doesn't like them. We buy Weetabix, hang on, this works!

The simple design of Weetabix, which has lasted over seventy years, is a compressed high fibre, wholegrain bar that is about three to four inches long and contains no additional flavouring or colouring, making it a great diet food. As you might have guessed, this simple design also results in a simple taste, but this actually works out as a benefit to a product like Weetabix where different people can mix it with different things. A sprinkling of sugar before it is covered in milk for example is enough each morning for me to enjoy a number of Weetabix, depending how hungry I am, whilst others prefer jam, fruit or yogurt mixed with Weetabix to help the cereal go down well. You may even find that it is fine on its own because as it is Weetabix doesn't taste bad, it's just that it doesn't taste spectacularly good on its own either. You can also vary the Weetabix greatly by changing varying the amount of milk added (a lot of milk will make it soggy, less will keep it crisp). This may seem obvious but it can make a great deal of difference to how much you enjoy it.

Like the product, the packaging of Weetabix is equally as simple with the brand name being shown in big letters across the front, the number of Weetabix in the packet printed on (as far as I'm aware these can be 6, 8, 12, 18, 24, 36, 48) and a small picture of wheat along with the normal nutritional information. Inside the box, the Weetabix are stacked and wrapped in easy to peel plastic, although removing the final few Weetabix from these plastics can result in broken and reduced sized Weetabix!

Overall it is a great cereal design that can cater for all. It is very healthy and filling and whilst it is plain, it mixes well with nearly everything making it something many people can enjoy.

Summary: Great cereal
